Piranha Max 20 review
With a limited budget, I shopped this one carefully, and the MAX 20 is the most bang-for-the buck I could find.The swivel base alone is worth the upgrade over the 10 or 15 models, and the better resolution only adds to an already great unit.Mounting directions were clear, and installation was done with common hand tools.The simulation setting allows you to see how it will work on the water.Never knew I what I was missing until I added a fishfinder to the old Lund.Highly recommended! ... Lousy Product Support
I am not writing a review for this exact product, but am for a similar one.It failed because of a plastic part that broke.Humminbird will not allow me to purchase a replacement part.The only concession they will make is that if I ship the unit to them they will repair it at approximately 50% of replacement cost.I consider that a bum deal and totally unacceptable.Because of their failure to provide even a minimum level of decent product service I've bought my last Humminbird product. ... Design flaw...
The Humminbird Piranha series is great, but it has a design flaw.The suction-cup mount forces the transducer to point in a single direction.Not good for a canoe without a transom.It always points off to one side of the canoe!The solution is a clamp-on transducer mount made by Tite-Lok which allows articulation in any desired direction.The best price I've found is at jandhproducts.comHappy fishing! ... Hummingbird fishfinder sucks!Be warned
This product just does not work.I've ordered three different models, ranging from the basic RF30 to the RF40 and none of them are worth the plastic they ship in.
SmartCast is a real good Fishfinder for shallow water
When I used this fishfinder for the first time, I was somewhat disapointed. I usually fish from the boat in depths of between 18 - 25m, so I did when using the fishfinder for the first time. I ancored my boat in a depth of 20m and then cast the RSS into the water. However, the display did not show me the ground, it only showed 0.0m, there were a little bit of waves but only about 10cm, moving closer to the shore, the FishFinder started working at a depth of 17m. Therefore do not expect the Fishfinder to work at depths up to 100ft (30m) unless the water is flat as a mirror. ... Read more
