5-0 out of 5 stars Nice camera for the price.Works great on a Mac
I compared the feature sets of a number of cameras and only the Panasonic had the wireless + pan/tilt for under $300.Video quality is good with decent lighting, but expect to see "Christmas light" pixels in poor lighting. As some of the other reviewers have said, don't be fooled by the documentation that states "Windows Required".It will work fine on your Mac OS X.Here are step-by-step instructions for setting it up using a Mac (don't worry, the steps go by quickly!):
4-0 out of 5 stars Happy until I changed routers
The camera is as advertised; the wireless and web-functionality is great; and it's compatible with WEP & MAC filtering security (802.11g).That was fine until I changed routers, and I now use WPA security ... which this camera cannot handle. So, until there is a firmware upgrade, or I decide to run wires (not likely), it's just on a shelf.

4-0 out of 5 stars Good but not secured
This BL-C30 is very easy to set up because it has the auto-configuration.The Dynamic DNS service is very handy too. While my wife and I were away from home for a month last time, I used it to monitor my home once in a while. However, there are 2 things you may need to consider:

2-0 out of 5 stars In a word: disappointing
The camera itself it not that bad. The design is ok. It's about like most typical Linksys products: ok documentation (but not great), so-so user interface but generally gets the job done. Initial setup is only mildly frustrating (the camera could not initially communicate with my Linksys router, which you'd think they might test back at the lab...) The fatal flaw with this camera is the SoloLink DDNS service. If you're not familiar with DDNS, it basically allows you to hook up the camera to your router and then assigns a domain name so that you can view the camera from any location by typing in an easy-to-remember domain name in a browser. I bought this camera to watch my house while on vacation. The service worked for about five minutes on the first day of the trip and then never worked again. Perhaps they will fix the service (is it a bandwidth issue?) but as of 9/06, it's horrible and I would stay away. On top of all that, you have to pay for this service. The box doesn't mention this, except if you read the small print where it says something like "free trial of SoloLink DDNS". You cannot use any other DDNS service...
5-0 out of 5 stars HOW TO VIEW THE VIDEO UNDER MAC OS !!!
this is very easy, just write the camera's IP address, add /img/video.asf and thats all !! works great with VLC for Mac OS !!... example: if your camera is on192.168.1.101, then use whatever video program like quicktime, VLC, windows media...etc and open the following address: 192.168.1.101:1024/img/video.asf
1-0 out of 5 stars Horrible quality and lacks key features, but includes so many cool ones--darn!
Without being in a well lit place (like outside) this product is practically useless if not bearly tolerable. It would not work at all in my apartment. I could bearly see even see me and that was close up. I was not pleased with the Linksys interface to boot because it didn't seem easy enough for family and friends to connect to from their browser.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Camera, does everything I expected
A great web camera for the price.Plug in the ethernet and power cable, and you are nearly ready to go.Note that you will have to plug in the ethernet cable for initial setup, even if you are planning on using wireless. You can access the camera directly, it has its own built in webserver. This allows any program that can use HTTP to work with it.Very handy if you want to use a program to upload shots from the camera to your website at regular intervals. No propritary software needed to get images, view everything from HTTP or a browser.

5-0 out of 5 stars Good Camera for a Mac Security System
I just purchased this camera to set up with a Mac security system. The camera set-up requires a PC so if you are using a Mac you still need a PC to set up the camera. Once the camera was set up I used my mac software to add it to my security network and the camera works fine. Image quality and movie recording using this camera is good. I have not been able to get the wireless to work with the Mac system, but direct connection to the ethernet works fine.

4-0 out of 5 stars Great product
This is a great product. I would rate this 5 stars if the setup was easy. I have this for over a month now and no problems with it. I use this to monitor my baby while working and so far it works fine.

4-0 out of 5 stars cordless great, image grainy,GREAT PET DETECTIVE
I needed a cordless camera. I looked into Nanny Cams and found them far beyond my budget. Found this camera at a local store and bought it for $79 on sale. But took the chance that I could not return it. Turns out it works perfectly for my needs.
1-0 out of 5 stars Barely works 2 feet from antenna
when i bought this cam i was very excited because i was under the impression that it was a WIRELESS webcam and that it could be positioned almost anywhere in the house and still work, assuming it didnt have to go through too many walls or anything, it took me days of emailing the Logitech people back and forth to finally even get the thing to work (they dont give you instruction manuals) and when it did "work" i couldnt move the cam more then 2 feet from the wireless antenna without it stopping. and if you have WIRELESS internet too? forget about it! the channels constantly conflict which makes it work even less, GOOD IDEA not a good product

3-0 out of 5 stars Works great, but video image is not crystal clear
I purchased 2 of these webcams, thinking that I could use them for a home surveillance/security set-up.

5-0 out of 5 stars No problems with the camera, despite an unusual application
Fortunately, I'm not having any of the problems others have listed, such as network dropouts, item DOA, or initial network connection issues. To these people I would recommend they contact the person who installed and configured their wireless network, because they'll need the WEP code and SSID (Wireless network name) to connect their camera.
1-0 out of 5 stars Do not buy this camera
My 3220G died as soon as I applied the latest firmware. I had first tried the 6620G ($750!) and it froze up constantly, lost its wireless grip, didn't return reliably to location settings... All in all a great concept but D-Link doesn't deliver. No tech support. Don't waste your time with these cameras. I had to return both the 3220G and 6620G to Amazon.
2-0 out of 5 stars sadly- it's been relegated to the junk drawer
I'm not a system analyst, so I need really clear instructions for any new device. I bought this camera 1 year ago to use as a home security camera which I could view from the Internet at my office.

Editorial Review

Unlike standard web cams, that are anchored to a PC, the Linksys WVC11B Wireless-B Internet video camera has its own web server. It can connect directly to a computer network over a Wireless-B (802.11b) connection or via a 10/100 Ethernet cable. From there, it provides MPEG-4 video compression for a 320x240 video stream that can be sent to a web browser anywhere in the world. It also works well as a monitoring or security device to keep an eye on your home, kids, workplace or just see whether the squirrels are getting into your birdfeeder. Other features include time stamp and text overlay, the ability to connect up to 4 users simultaneously, multi-platform support--TCP/IP, SMTP (e-mail), HTTP, and DHCP . Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars no joy
I bought the camera to use with my wrt54G Linksys router as the reviews I'd read said the chances were best if you had the same vendor equipment. I set up the wizard to try and find the camera wireless but no joy. I'd read the wired hook up was a way to start and it found the camera. The problem came when it asked for an admin name and admin password. ????? I called tech support and wasted an hour an one half and still don't have the unit online. I was told use admin for the name and password both.

5-0 out of 5 stars This is a great little cam!
It seems that only the people who have problems write reviews. I'm here to say that I had this linksys cam up, configured and viewing in less than five minutes. The new 802.11G model will make a 640 pixel image, but I think that if you are sendng between two DSL connections- the best you will get is 320 anyway (with any frame rate). OK, the low light picture isn't great, but under normal conditions with light filtering in from the windows, it's perfect.

5-0 out of 5 stars Very powerful tool
If you don't know too much about computer network, it could be difficult. Been using little more than 3 month so far, no problem. Used D-Link, Hawking, Axis, and Panasonic, but based on my experience, linksys had more funtions that was availabe than any other camera, plus, image quality is good if set it as best quailty picture, with best pixel. (Default is not set as best). I was able to remotely access my camera from Korea, Camera was in U.S., had about 3 seconds of delay on still images, but 3 second is good enough with today's technology. I'm not using Sololink to remotely access my camera (since it requires membership). Currently using 6 cameras in my C-Store in U.S., and all are viewalble at the sametime remotely, without any chopping or losing frame actions. People could complain due to customer serivce issues, and installation issues, but if you check on Linksys Forum, other users are far knowlodgeble than customer service, and their response is faster than customer serivce. BTW, WPA is possible if you upgrade the factory firmware to european firmware version.

2-0 out of 5 stars Won't connect over WPA
I've had this camera replaced by Linksys 4 times. The first time, was due to the camera crashing on a weekly basis. The second replacement worked fine until I upgraded my router and switched from WEP to WPA. After the switch the camera would not connect to the router, switching back to WEP, of course worked. Linksys has replaced the camera 3 times for this issue, and with the last support call confirmed that there is a KNOWN problem with WPA encryption and this camera.

4-0 out of 5 stars Does what it purports to do.
Set up was straightforward, only glitch is that the instructions do not explicitly suggest that the set up needs to be done with a hard wired ethernet cable to your router.

2-0 out of 5 stars Don't waste your money
I've tried two of these units now, and neither of them work. The first wouldn't even get to where it's webserver was running and their tech support was useless. The second one will at least show a picture, but sometimes it likes to ignore web requests.Plus they seem to try to make it hard for you. It's very non-intuitive and has alot of things hard coded that shouldn't be.
1-0 out of 5 stars might be good for home or office use.
I tested a DCS-2000 out as a security camera for my small retail store.Iupgraded the firmware to 1.07 and IP surveillance to 2.12.At 320x240 i can't really make out a face more than 15 ft away, but a person moving at 10 ft alway causes the video to become choppy.I guess this system is good for areas where there are not much movement and where there is no need to have a clear image to ID a unknown person. The software and idea of this system is good, but that is about all that is good about this system.

4-0 out of 5 stars Decent quality, excellent software
Well, I chose to ignore the blatant Axis commercial someone put here as a review. I own the D-link 2000 and the Axis. The Axis is more expensive, has poorer software and is a royal pain to set up and configure.Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars I RETURNED IT!! ALL FEATURES DO NOT WORK!
I purchased this camera based on the salesman recommendation. He said that I can easily use this camera and view the images from a different computer.
1-0 out of 5 stars Features Sound Good but...
I bought this camera to test it as a security camera for a store I own. The camera sounds good if you look at all the features it has but when I hooked it up I found the software to be pretty bad. I'm a software engineer so maybe I expect too much but when you open the software and it takes up the full screen without a minimize button, i consider that pretty bad. Not to mention the software is not very intuitive at all and pretty difficult to work with.
1-0 out of 5 stars Buggy and Difficult Installation but DLink Got It Working
I would give this product a three star rating. The DCS 2100+started out worse than a plague of locusts. To be fair, I am reporting the final result. A Senior Level Technician at DLink figured out the problem and with download of the latest update to the application software (IP Surveillance) the DCS 2100+ works as does the IP Surveillance software (It now allows minimalization of the screen. I still haven't conquered the surveillance mode completely and email alerts still don't work, nor have I figured out how to add my Linksys camera to the sureveillance software, but I am optimistic.

4-0 out of 5 stars Works as advertised
I needed to watch my kids at home from the internet and wanted to be able to pan & tilt. I first bought 3 cameras from X10 for [money amount]. Bad quality picture, couldn't penetrate corporate firewalls and too dificult to adjust. After 20 days of experimenting & support calls I gave up and bought this. Got it up and running in 3 hrs., no support calls required, penetrates firewalls and really good quality video. Drawbacks - the Pan and tilt is much lesser than X10. Works on a/c only. Big plus - 802.11b rocks on my wireless network!! ... Read more

2-0 out of 5 stars 1 Year + 2 days: R.I.P.
After spending considerable time configuring, updating firmware, and deciphering manuals, I thought I was in the clear.Although the "wireless option" was, shall we say, "disappointing", the wired configuration was providing a great view of Lake Winnipesaukee from my office window(for MSIE users, that is; Firefox/Opera browsers are not supported) until 1 year and 2 days from date of purchase. The camera sensed the warranty expiration and is now completely dead (well, pan and tilt still work, but what's the point?).D-Link support suggested I buy a new one.I will.I found a nifty Panasonic camera that looks very promising. The 5300W goes in the bin with my previously-failed D-Link Router and D-link switch.

2-0 out of 5 stars Good features.Poor quality for price
The features are great: emailing, pan and tilt, wireless, zooming, etc.
5-0 out of 5 stars The Best Surveillance Camera on the Market
This camera has to be the best available option for office/home surveillance system on the market.I have 4 camera's at home and recommended them in the office, and now using 2.With my networking background, set up was less than 15 minutes.Loaded with features, this camera hasn't yet failed my needs.I able to watch the neighboors peak around my place and even look into windows.I highly recommend this camera.Price is high but once you get it running the product out weighs the price. ... 2-0 out of 5 stars IK-WB01 - Much like one of the above reviewers, I was mislead by the promise of "motion detection".
The camera's ability to "pan & tilt" and the 0.7 lux (low light) were my primary considerations for selecting this camera. It was between this IK-WB01 and the D-link DCS-950G.The D-link has better light gathering capability, but the coolness of pan and tilt won out!4-0 out of 5 stars Pretty good with some minor flaws
I have this and a DLink DCS-900W.Both can do 640x480 color, but the DLink costs about 60% as much. This camera is more than twice as good, as long as you don't need FTP.
1-0 out of 5 stars Toshiba's IK-WB01A is a disgrace!!
I am extremely disappointed with this camera. The manual is written in very poor English which I had a hard time deciphering and it doesn't explain some basic operations. I cannot imagine how Toshiba managed to get the best geeks in Japan to develop this camera but they couldn't get a professional translator to write up a manual in English. I know that most of their customer's speak English, so this doesn't make any sense.

1-0 out of 5 stars Dlink repair
I have a DCS1000W network camera that stopped working about a year after I bought it. When I called Dlink about repair they said it was out of warranty (which I already knew) and that they had no repair facility. When I asked them how to get it repaired, the answer was "we do not repair them" just throw it away and buy a new one. An expensive lesson..............

2-0 out of 5 stars terrible low light ability
Ok, I bought this camera to watch my kid in a room while they were asleep.I'm telling you this camera barely shows anything in anything but full light conditions.Horrible.If there is light though, it does ok, hence the 2 star rating. But low light conditions, 0 star. This camera also has buggy software and will not accept your router configuration completely. You must not disable SSID transmission (like I had for security reasons)otherwise the camera doesn't transmit to your router either. Now this is a basic security issue with wireless routers, you should not have to transmit your SSID to everyone in the world, not good for security. So if you only need to have this operational in the day and don't care about details, then it will work. But I personally regret buying it, too expensive for its performance.Very weak in low light, almost ridiculous.

3-0 out of 5 stars Buggy!!!
First the good. The camera is very easy to setup, and the picture is nice. Now the bad.The frame rate is terrible.I have yet to see 20fps on any setting. At 640X480, I get 1.5fps average.I have a DI-624 as my wireless router, and I am very familiar with setting it up, so I don't think this is the problem.Another annoying thing is that the frame rate is very inconsistant. One time I had the camera at 11fps.By the time I got my wife into my office to take a look, I was at 0.6fps.The camera will also freeze up for no reason.I use the included software with motion detection and have been monitoring traffic outside my window as a test of the software. It has great detection, but sometimes the camera will freeze up for 2 hours or more, so what good is the great motion detection if there is no picture for the software to monitor? Not sure I can recommend this camera for any security operation. So what is it good for?Not sure.Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Used as nanny cam
I researched nanny cams for a full week stait and came up with this as the best package.I am able to watch my aby from my desk at work. The camera is not hidden, but looks like a motion detector and has pan tilt and audio features.I was able to very easily hook this up internally (so that it would work in my house), but in order for me to get it to work from an outside network, I needed a computer expert to come in and set it up. I emauiled the seller a few times and got an auto reply, but he/she never got back to me. The cameras work pretty well for the price and I feel safer having them in my home. The picture quality (as long as there is light in the room) is satisfactory and the audio feature is great.

3-0 out of 5 stars Great for indoor / Terrible for outdoor
