Pioneer DVR-R100B
This unit was very easy to install in the Dell Dimension 4300 with no interferance. I tried the player out and it played a CD that my son had scratch so bad that the CD will not play in any other player. I plan on buying another to replace the DVD-CD burner in my Dell Dimension 8300. Pioneer has made a believer out of me. Thank Pioneer.

Aggressive Software
The DVD drive works fine.I used it without problems for recording on DVD-R media.But the software provided with this drive is a real bummer.It is one of those software bundles that replaces all your current defaults and existing programs.You expect to use the vendor's supplied software and drivers, but the supplied software replaces your existing defaults for viewing images, viewing videos, etc.It was a real pain removing all the extraneous software and returning my settings to what they were before I install the package.
Works OK
The dvd works great on +R dvd DL but not at all on -R DVDs.Their fix doesn't work and support is spotty and so far not helpful. ... Read more

old technology, but still useful
If your computer has a USB port, you should definitely get a USB Zip drive or flash drive because this parallel-port Zip drive is really slow.However, most old computers (i.e. those made before 1997) do not have a USB port or CD-RW drives, and so this Zip drive is the ideal way for transferring data to and from such computers.100MB Zip discs are pretty cheap, too.But keep in mind that this drive won't recognize 250MB discs.If you think you might need to use those discs in the future, get a 250MB Zip drive instead.

very useful,lightweight,and dependable
I've been using this hard drive for over 2 years with no problem. I travel for a living so it has been through a lot of abuse. It actually outlived 2 powerbooks that haven't been able to handle the wear and tear. It also survived 2 waist-height drops.
Just what I needed for Backups
I learned the hard way about the need for regular backups.I'm using this drive to back up my entire computer on a regular basis.It's big and fast and, so far, absolutely plug-and-play dependable.

Great little drive
I've had one of 20GB versions of this drive for a long time and I love it. Small, very quiet, and I've never had a problem with it. I'm thinking about getting a bigger one, though. I use it with a Mac PowerBook G4, which has a six-pin connector, so mine draws power from the computer just fine. As for Dustin's frustration, it's not really SmartDisk's fault if you don't know that a four-pin connector won't supply power (that's the purpose of the extra two pins). ... Read more

rugged, reliable, easy to use
This flash drive is great in terms of ease of use and durability. I've seen several flash drives out there that look like flimsy sticks, but corsair's design is freakin' sweet (meaning you shouldn't be able to accidentally break or crush it). It comes with a 10 year warranty, which shows they care about the quality of their product. The flash drive is supposedly water resistant, but I don't want to loose my data in order to verify that theory.
great memory, fast, solide
I am owning the corsair flash voyager usb 2.0 drive (2GB) and I consider this to be one of the best buys I had recently. Data transfer is extremely fast. All computers that I have used recognize this drive at once. Storage is plenty for my daily data, so I don't need to carry my laptop. Very poor quality for the price
I purchased 2 of these units for backup and archival purposes.However, within a few weeks both were so noisy that I had to turn them off.While I like the idea of a fan to keep the drive cool, I trashed both of them and decided on an aluminum enclosure.
Cheap plastic
I bought this HDD enclosure because of the fan.The enclosure is not durable, if you were to drop it with a HDD in it, it will break.The whole enclosure is glued together and could come apart if you keep opening it.Overall it works with my HDD and the fan isn't that loud.I give it 3 stars for operating after I installed it and the fan thats included.

Great device, makes backing up files so much easier!
Do you back files up onto CD's?If so, you really need to get one of these and chunk your old method.
Sleek little hard drive
I bought this for my wife to use for backups. It is an elegant, small and slim, USB hard drive. The power and data cables are combined into one cable with two heads, which is nice. The backup software seems to be good. I think it better than the CMS drive I use for my own hard drive.

The size of the Store-It Drive is not much bigger than my Palm Tungsten E. The Retrospect software that is included is simply amazing. After the discount and rebate, the unit cost a little over a $100. The 60GB capacity is sufficient for my needs and the compact size is handy because I have to exchange large files between my home and work computers. The encryption feature requires administrator privileges on Windows 2000 and XP
On paper Kingston DataTraveler Elite (KUSBDTE/1GB) flash disk looks very promising: 1 GB, read 24 MB/sec, write 14 MB/sec and on-the-fly hardware AES encryption with the same very high read/write performance. This hardware encryption looked really nice, so I bought one. However, when testing the device I found that it has one very big drawback that is not mentioned anywhere -- the encryption feature requires administrator privileges on Windows 2000 and XP. That means if you don't have admin privileges, you can't open your encrypted partition, which rules this device out for anyone who is planning to use it in internet cafes or any other similar public computers, where you don't always have admin access. On that case you can only use part of the drive that you have left unencrypted.

Great hard drive, quite.
Very easy setup, very quite, good back up software, one button backup is handy. Backup reminder notice is very handy. This is a short-term review with about 30 days of usage.
Great, no problem drive
Got this drive over a year ago. Using for data storage and to move some mp3's from one computer to another. Has not missed a beat. Currently using for video storage. I can't understand the bad reviews. I'm using an HP,loaded with home XP with sp1 and have not had a problem right from the box. In fact I'm just about to order another one. Just a thought but there is a dismount procedure to remove the drive from the system. It appears in the system tray when the drive is active.

What a piece of crap..... I'd give ZERO stars if I could....
This thing didn't even last until I got the rebate check back.... the drive itself is fine... the USB interface just stopped working.... Please see Seagate's website for their very restrictive warranty return policies (It's almost as though you can void your warranty by taping the box left-handed AND they link you to another site where you're invited to BUY the correct materials to ship your drive back to them). I consider their warranty return competely useless (No data recovery without an exorbitant fee, even though the drive itself is not the problem.... and you get a "reconditioned" drive, not the one you sent back....) Did not function as expected
The Maxtor OneTouch iii - Mini Edition did not function as expected. It doesn't backup system files (neither the Windows folder), nor make an image of the notebook's hard-drive. Maxtor wasn't very specific about all it can really do in their webpage.

How Tough is Tough?
The ATP Tough drive seemed like the perfect solution to my problem. I like to keep my flash drives on my keychain, and previous flash drives always got scratched, and the cap broke off, and finally the whole thing would break off the key chain. So I was excited when I saw the Touch Drive. It's rubber coated so it doesnt scratch, and the hole for the lanyard/key ring is actually made out of the same rubber as the shell (which isn't as fragile as you would think). I've had it on my keychain for about 6 months now and the writing on it is not faded or scratched at all, and besides for the inevitable pocket lint stuck to it it looks brand new. Only bad part is the cap has no place to be attatched to when its plugged into the computer, but as long as you are careful about it, it shouldnt be a problem.
