Beware.This antenna's built in clips are not compatible with the metal oval superdish.
Incompatible with single receiver systems
Nowhere in the description or packaging does it say that this antenna requires a satellite multiswitch. A multiswitch is used for systems using more than 1 TV/receiver. The antenna amplification comes from the satellite multiswitch, and without amplification, this antenna is no better than a pair of simple rabbit ears.
Horrible HDTV Antenna
This antenna was a tremendous waste of money.It did not do any of the things advertised on Amazon.com or Terk.com.I could only barely receive 1 station and that picture was very poor quality.I can get 3 channels with rabbit ears and they are much better quality.It also significantly reduced, 10-15%,the signal reception on all 3 satellite LNB's.I would strongly recommend looking elsewhere for an HDTV antenna.This poor quality device added to the poor quality of DirecTV in general makes me wish everyday that I had stayed with Cable TV. ... RCA=Junk
Please do yourself a favor and steer clear of the RCA DirecTV receivers. Mine began giving me TONS of problems after just 5 months of use. Without warning during TV viewing it kept resetting "searching for signal" about 5-6X a night, then you have to sit & wait the 3-4 min. as it downloads the program guide. How frustrating!!! I tried to get repair service help from RCA's 800# but it was completely automated, no live people to help you and I was then referred to a long distance # for help. Give me a break RCA!! I have to pay for a phone call to get you to fix your defective product? Buyer beware!!! I'd recommend any alternative brand for your DirecTV system, there are other brands out there, but if you must get RCA make sure you invest in a protection/extended warranty because you'll need it.

Nice Price, Does a Decent Job
I have owned both RCA and Sony Direct TV receivers for several years. I understand Sony either no longer makes them, or no longer makes the Ultimate TV Direct TV receiver. The one advantage of the Sony is that their menuing system is very intuitive. The RCA on the other hand, requires manual searching to figure out the commands=not intuitive. Does a lot of cool things though. I am a firm believer in Direct TV as being the best method of viewing. Highest resolution for the best price. Additionally, except in all but the heaviest rains, the reliability is superb. I was a cable subscriber for years, and would have blackouts that lasted for 3 days at times. My friend signed up with cable and went through 6 digital receivers in 6 weeks. (I know that is probably the exception) I find a lot of cable subscribers very happy with their service. NOT BAD!!! But could be better!
This reciver is not that bad it works very well, Clear picture. Its pretty fast but no athlon 3000+ (lol) the 2 min download and seaching for sat comes on without notice at times right when your wacthing a movie! :( other from that this reciver is GOLD! useful features for the tv loving junky! OBSOLETE

Horrible product but Directv people need it anyway
All the other one star reviews have summed up the flaws nicely, it is full of maddening bugs and malfunctions. However, Directv users really have no choice, they have to buy it anyway. Recording the direct digital signal and being able to store full resolution undegraded recordings is still your best option, even with this wretched piece of junk. Thankfully, it was only $99 which reduces the pain.

AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!!
I have been a loyal directv customer for 6 years and have sung their praises... until now.This box is the slowest, most frustrating, useless piece of technology ever thrust upon consumers.If it werent for my contract I'd go with comcast!They have poorly copied TIVO - and really put together something that just doesnt work.You cant flip between the two tuners, the fast forward/rewind is not easy to use, it takes multiple clicks to get to the list or guide, you cant prioritize recording easily, the season pass doesnt work, and its SLOW!!! Very good, economical receiver
I used this for more than a year and was quite happy w/ the menuing system.It is an affordable edition for a child's or teenager's room and is less expensive than what DirecTV will supply.

Channel switching problems with Tivo
I bought this one because it had the "low speed data" cable which makes Tivo channel switching nice/fast.However, the unit has now automatically downloaded some new software with bugs which makes some of my local channels not accessible.Basically, you can't select some of the local channels by typing them in - only by doing channel up/down.The problem with that is that Tivo "types them in" when you change channels, so basically Tivo won't record on local channels. problems galore
I have had direct Tv for nearly 6 years and had various receivers.All have been reliable and did a good job, but this one.Have had Sharp, Sony, Phillips and RCA.RCA was least responsive.Going through the guide was slow.I was forever changing batteries.With the others I would change them once a year, but with this one it was more like once a month.Had lag time on the local channel, not the difference in speed, but lag...stop and hold for a second on the image.Very irritation.Read more

Directv Receiver
The product is very nice. The only problem I had was it didn't come with an access card. I could have purchased a new unit for the price I paid for the unit and the new card.

excellent value
It took a little getting used to but overall I'm impressed with the performance and features of this unit.The remote didn't work with my Sansui TV/VCR combo unit but that was expected.Easy directions and helpful guides make this unit easy to get used to.

Average at best..
I wanted a Philips brand receiver because my TV, VCR, and DVD are all made by Philips. It is conveinent to have the remote work automatically without having to program it and I have always liked their products. BUT, I do not like this receiver. For those who do not know, there is a big difference between the different brands of DirecTv receivers. Read more

Disappointing
I was looking for a 13" TV to replace a dead Magnavox 13" TV purchased in 1998.Based on reviews here and elsewhere I thought this RCA model would be the ideal solution, but I was generally disappointed, for the following reasons:
great 13 in. TV
I finally had to replace my Sony 13 in. tv for my bedroom .Based on my research from Amazon.com's reviews I went to Circuit City where the RCA had this TV on sale .Most small televisions I came across tend to be poor quality .This set is the exception.I notice the difference once it was plugged in . The picture quality was superior even compared to the larger and more expensive set .Wide range of picture adjustments for my need . The front mono speaker sounds great for it's size ...not "tinny" .The remote that came with it is the only complant that I have(small, fragile and "cushy" buttons). However my universal remote had the code for this brand so I don't need the factory remote once i set the adjustments where I want it. I know about bad reviews about reception with the antenna . I , however , had hook-uped my cable box ,PS2 , and DVD to the TV and RCA produced great picture images thru all devices.

You ever buy something and you immed. know thatya made a mistake....
Purchased for bedroom.I purchased this unit sight unseen from ecost as I needed an inexpensive HD unit ASAP.The only thing this unit had going for it was price $200 (refurb).It has an obnoxiously loud, non stop fan.It never stops.
WHAT'S WITH THE COOLING FAN??
This unit is unusable in a bedroom because of an unbelievably loud cooling fan. The fan never shuts off, even when the machine is turned off; you have to unplug it to silence it! I'm of the opinion that Home Theater components should be silent, but this has a fan as loud as the fan on my desktop PC.Really poor, arrogant engineering.

TOSHIBA DST-3000
I was an early adopter of a Toshiba 40H80 Theater Wide HDTV and the DST-3000 back in late 2001. I have always been a fan of Toshibas products and to me they are top notch and for the most part have lived up to and exceeded thier expectations. The toshiba has an ATSC/HDTV tuner that recieves all 18 ATSC table 3 terresterial formats, an NTSC 181 channel vhf/uhf/cable tuner, and a direct tv/hd tuner and decoder. It can capture channels from a roof top or attic mounted antenna as well for local channels in analog or digital. The on screen menu guide is one of the fastest and easiest Ive ever used and it can automatically combine satelitte and non-satelitte channels, aloowing you to add or delete and auto scan for any available channels.
Works well with Hitachi HDTV
I've used this unit for over a three years.I have both component video and composite video set up to my Hitachi 36" HDTV (non-widescreen.)It was simple to setup for the 4:3 aspect ratio with either a choice of black or grey bars when viewing 16:9 programming (I prefer black and have had no burn-in problems.) not happy
after about 6 months my toshiba dst-300 lost the video input ,I could hear the sound but the screen was black. technical support was not much help either. I had to spend an extra $150.00 to have it fixed.my old hughes receivers are 5 years old and I never had any problems with them. ... Read more
