2-0 out of 5 stars Would not Buy it again
Nothing Special, disapointed with the distance the phone reaches. You better stay in the same room as the transmitter. After two rooms over, you will get static that makes it almost impossible to use. The answering machine I would rate a 4, it'sgood and simple to use. The Phone a 1. My 900 HZ, $14.99 cordless phone was a lot better then this. ... Read more

2-0 out of 5 stars Okay but problems
The phone was a great purchase for the price. The one big glitch is that the phone is so small and the "off" button is the wrong place. When I move by head to my shoulder to hold the phone, I disconnect the person I am on with!
2-0 out of 5 stars Several major flaws

1-0 out of 5 stars Excellent product gone wrong
This could be the perfect set of telephones.I am going to be honest.I don't know maybe I have just had problems with this brand because this is not the only set of Uniden phones that did not work for me.First of all, the features are excellent. Some are more neccessary for the average person than others, but all are cool. It is also a great value for the price.I think that this is one of the best deals that I have seen in cordless telephones. The main problem for me was interference. The static was minimal with most of the household electronics, but then it went up to very irritating if I used the dishwasher, dryer, or washing machine.I don't mean if I was standing next to these things. It didn't matter where I was in my 1010 square foot apartment.I know that the area is small for most of you, but the size should not matter for an item that you need to use everyday.Well, that is not the worst part. The kicker is that the static got so heavy with the microwave being on that the person talking to you no longer could hear your voice.I confess that I have a very powerful microwave, but that should not matter when it has no effect on my old vtech phone.Regardless, like I said, this is not the only one of the Uniden cordless phones that have not worked for me, but according to the reviews they apparently work for some. For those who would like to know, the other phones were the Uniden DXI5586-2 5.8 ghz.The main problems with those were constant static that increased with the air conditioner being on and sudden hang ups.Yes, you could be hee hawing and then it is just silent.Maybe Uniden and I are just not meant to be. ... 1-0 out of 5 stars Doesn't work out of the box
I purchased the base station plus 4 extensions.Unfortunately, my roommate installed it and threw away all the boxes before I came back home.Essentially, two of the extensions had so much static that you cannot even connect to the base station no matter how close you are to it (they say they are "searching".One had a bad static problem where you cannot hear the person at the other end of the line, and the other two headsets varied depending on how far from the base station you were.It is not clear to me whether it is a signal strenth issue, a channel interference issue, a bad headset, or a bad base.Either way, the troubleshooting guide makes no mention of a proper diagnosis of the problem (and of course, no proper solution) and AT&T tech support hasn't claimed that they heard of this problem before.I normally like Panasonic phones and I've tried V-Tech, to my disappointment.I thought I'd try an American design but I guess I just threw away some money.

4-0 out of 5 stars A Telephone that works
It rings - I answer it - and I can hear the person on the other end. Heck of a deal.

4-0 out of 5 stars Great performance, OK interface
I can recommend this phone system for its sound quality and wireless reception. The handset speaker-phone is excellent, and the sound via an optional earphone is as well.Unfortunately, the interface has some unpleasant limitations. If you don't have caller-ID, you'll probably avoid the address book.Entering names is painful, and isn't shared between handsets (or even the base). If you want to mix upper/lowercase letters, you'll be pressing the keypad all day, as it cycles through all of the options on each number (e.g. ABC2abc or even worse PQRS7pqrs).

I got this phone from Walmart for around $14, about 7 months ago. It does the job well, and I've never had a dropped call.
5-0 out of 5 stars Good Basic Phone
About six weeks ago I purchased this phone to replace one that was probably 15 years old. I paid $9.99 for it at Big Lots and have been satisfied with it so far, but for ten bucks how can you go wrong. It sounds good and is nice and clear. So far I have no complaints.
3-0 out of 5 stars Pretty Good Phone for the Money!
I recently bought the GE 900 MHz phone for like $15 bucks. I mean for a 15 dollar phone you really can't go wrong.. This phone has a 10 number storage feature and a on/off button on the phone for the ringer. Overall this phone is pretty nice but I think GE needs to do some adjusting with the sound. When you talk on this phone you can't hear what the people are saying hardly. But other than that the phone is awesome. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars unbelievably good value
I can't imagine what caused all the negative reviews on this site. After giving up on several other phones, including Uniden's own 5.8GHz phone whose signal won't penetrate even a single wall, I finally decided to return to el-cheapo 900MHz, nice-long-wavelength analog technology and I was so glad I did! I bought one for myself and tried it, then I bought another for my daughter in college, and now I'm going to buy a third one to replace another inferior 900MHz unit I own (another brand). This unit is crystal clear, it has incredible range, and neither of the two units I bought has ever failed in the year my family has owned them. Two of them work fine in the same house (they don't interfere). And the headphone jack, which is very important to both my wife and me, works great. Most units have speakers whose impedances are mismatches for most headsets, and so you get good volume in the handset but terribly low volume in the headset. Not so with this unit - it sounds great in both the handset AND the headset (headset is NOT included). And on top of all that, the answering machine works great and it is very clear and easy to use. I couldn't recommend this unit more! And it's so inexpensive!

1-0 out of 5 stars Lots of static
The phone has too much static unless you're sitting right next to the console, in which case you might has well have a corded phone.

2-0 out of 5 stars Worst battery I have ever seen
Battery discharges only in 30 minutes of talking. I personally never recommend this item. Answering machine is good but battery is worst. ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars Great phone except for one problem
This is a great phone. It had all the features I was looking for -- 2 lines, conf, call waiting, call id, transfer, mute, headset jacks, volume, ringer on/off.The only problem is that you cannot turn off the ringer on the handset. If your talking on one line and another call comes through on the other, it rings loudly in your ear.I called Tech Support and you cannot turn this off -- only to hi or low volume (and 'low' isn't that low).If it weren't for this, I'd recommend it highly.

1-0 out of 5 stars Cannot recommend it
After less than one year, I am shopping for a new phone. The handset does not work anymore.I replaced the battery thinking that was the problem but it wasn't.When I click on one of the lines, there is either no sound at all, no dial-tone or anything OR it is just static and fuzz.2-0 out of 5 stars Not a good desk phone!
I bought this phone with the intention of using it in my home office. The caller-id function is very important to me.Unfortunately, the phone lays to flat for you to see the caller-id display or read the keypad. Also, speakerphone volume is really loud, even when turned all the way down.I am taking this phone back. ... 1-0 out of 5 stars Completely useless!
Had this phone for about two weeks before it stopped dialing out. The handsets still connect to the base station, or at least they say they are connected, and I get a dial tone, but when I dial, it just comes right back to the dial tone. No call is made. If I answer a call, I can hear the caller, but they can't hear me, no matter how close I stand to the base station. Changing channels makes no difference. I'm returning this today and getting something else. Please don't waste your money. In fact, this experience makes me very wary of anything with the VTech name.

1-0 out of 5 stars Complete Waste of Money
I bought this system from Sam's Club recently and the phones were pieces of junk. The reception within the house was shotty at best, dialing was a debaucle because the phones wouldn't recognize the dialing, and the caller id wouldn't show the number of the person dialing until after the phone had clicked to voicemail. It may be an attractive price, but just bite the bullet and pay $20 more for a system that actually works!

1-0 out of 5 stars Junk
Don't waste your time or money on this phone. There is nothing redeemable about it. It picks up all kinds of interference, even after switching channels. The voice quality sounds like talking in a tin can. You can only use one handset at a time, so family members cannot join in the conversation. I can't believe a company would peddle such junk. ... The volume is so low on this phone you can hardly hear the person on the other end, even with the volume turned to maximum.Returning this phone today.

5-0 out of 5 stars Very solid performer
Our offices were wired by someone that really didn't know what they were doing. Most of the rooms have no phone jack and the idea of running cable for two offices was not very attractive. The GE Edge 5901EE3 set was the perfect solution. We have voicemail on the line and a nice digital answering machine with multiple inboxes that handle our messages just fine. All too many of the 5.8ghz setups come with an answering system build into the base unit. That was something I definitely did not want or need. The GE Edge system is perfect. Clear sound, three units, no answering machine, handles standard 2.5mm jacks for headsets, each handset has built in speaker phone, ringer can be turned off, calls can be transferred to another handset, etc., etc., etc. Great deal too - got the 3 phones for $29.99!

2-0 out of 5 stars Not what I expected
I had a Panasonic 900Mhz phone before that worked great. I got rid of it when we bought our multi phone Uniden 2.4Mhz phone set. Only to find out that the 2.4Hhz phones distroyed the signals for our wireless network and wireless security cameras. That was too bad because those phones worked great. So we bought this phone and the extra phone they offer with it because I knew the frequency wouldn't mess up our other high tech goodies. First off, these two phones don't "talk" to the base unit, only the one that came with the base unit does. This means you have to run another phone cable to the extra phone for it to work. Also they pick up a bunch of ambient noise through the microphone. I find myself standing in the closet to block out the sounds in the room ( TV, fan, other people talking...). Well, I no longer have the interference problems but boy, did I every get what I paid for...very cheap phones.

1-0 out of 5 stars STAY AWAY!!!!
I purchased this phone back in January of this year.I died in June!!!The company wanted me to pay for shipping to have it repaired.Since it only cost around 25 dollars, I just went and purchased a different phone. It is pretty bad that it did not even last a year!!!I have had Vtech phones before, and they have worked pretty well for me.Stay away from this one...it's a lemon!

2-0 out of 5 stars You get what you pay for
I purchased this phone as a primary answering machine in my home based on my two previous Unidens that I loved and have come to regret it.It's a flimsy machine with poor audio quality. What drives me nuts is the volume - I can barely hear others, but when I speak I feel like my own voice is blasting my eardrum. If I decrease the volume I have a hard time hearing the person on the other end - increase it and I have to hold the phone away from my head when I speak.Nowhere near the quality of the other (more expensive) Unidens. It was so cheap I didn't get around to returning it to Amazon.Oh well, lesson learned. Now I'm going to buy a Panasonic. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Panasonic KX-TG5433M 5.8 GHz FHSS 3-Handsets
This system is excellent, no problems whatsoever. Very clear.

5-0 out of 5 stars The best cordless phone I haved owned!!
These phones are great. The sound is real, I dont have a static and the answering machine is easy to use. You can get your messages from any of the three phones. I like the intercom option also.

5-0 out of 5 stars Darn diddly arn great phone!
I hate phones in general. It seems they don't always work, or the sound is muddy. I've used everything from a cheap $10 Uniden, to the $100+ Lucents, and have been happy with none.

Editorial Review

Outfitted with a pair of cordless handsets and a digital answering system, the remanufactured EXAI-5588-2 cordless phone system is a great fit for mid-sized households. The system operates on the 5.8 GHz frequency, which is able to offer clearer, more intelligible reception than cordless phones working on the more-crowded 900 MHz or 2.4 GHz bands. More significantly, the system's dual handsets mean you won't have to run to the downstairs phone each time the phone rings. Simply locate one handset upstairs and the other downstairs and you're set.Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars DOH!!!
Well, it looks nice, it's small, setup isn't hard, the sound is good, and it has several cute little ringtones. However, this phone has a major design flaw that makes it unusable for me:
3-0 out of 5 stars Beware Motorola, read the reviews first!
I bought this phone based on the the different functions that it offered. It has not been all bad, but after 2 months the cordless stopped holding a charge. Well, these things happen. I figured a quick call to Motorola would solve the problem. Boy, was I wrong. I can't get anywhere with them. So, I have to warn you. My phone barely works now (three months later), and Motorola refuses to make good on it. My advice is to stay away from all Motorola products, and most certainly this one.
