2-0 out of 5 stars Cannot Recommend
I've had this phone for a couple of years, and although the sound quality was not great even in the beginning, I was initially pleased. Soon, however, the number buttons started acting up. You usually have to press the On button and a couple of the number buttons, like the 6, two or three times before they will work, which causes some frustration.
1-0 out of 5 stars Horrid phone--save your money!
The handset buttons do not work. This is possibly the worst phone I've ever used. If there were a negative scoring system on Amazon, this phone would be a negative five stars.

1-0 out of 5 stars Stinksville
As my wife is fond of saying, "thatstinks dot com!"After about four years with this craptacular phone system, we were on the brink of seeking professional counseling.Instead, we read the other customer reviews -- it has been incredibly cathartic. We laughed, we cried.Literally.Everything you can say about the AT&T 2256 has been covered here: the beeps, the "die waiting for 911" keypad, YELLING ROBOT answering machine....We were going to sell the phone on ebay or give it away, but can't with good conscience, so we will box it up and keep it so that we NEVER FORGET. ... 4-0 out of 5 stars motorola sd4591 digital corded/cordless answering machine

1-0 out of 5 stars Motorola lost a loyal customer
My very first cell phone was Motorola, and it served me great, so I became attached to the brand based on that experience ,and for that reason alone boughtMotorola SD4591 Digital Corded/Cordless System. As we've put the wireless network in house the cordless phone started playing tricks. The battery life got very short very soon too. I was told I need to get different batteries NiH instead of NiCD. Naturally the microwave was playing the tricks on cordless too. As we have two lines in house and was told by several people to move to 5.8Hz 2 line phone I decided to get Motorola MD7091 5.8GHz Digital 2-line Phone and remained loyal to Motorola. And boy was I wrong again. What others are saying about caller ID not showing as soon as I have another phone on the same line besides Motorola MD 7091 is true in my case too. I don't get it does Motorola expect us to switch phones to their system now around the house if we want to used one of their phones??? This is really cheap trick

5-0 out of 5 stars FANTASTIC PHONE!!!!
READ THE MANUAL!
1-0 out of 5 stars Take your money elsewhere!
I purchased this phone with an additional handset last week and it is of extremely poor quality so I have resumed use of my old 900 mhz VTech. This phone causes both an echo of my voice and a loss of fluid communication, which, is the reason for its use!In sum, take your money elsewhere!

5-0 out of 5 stars Great product - No caller I.D. bug either
I have four of these phones (a base and three additional phones) and four teenagers! I think they have held up well. I have also found the Caller I.D. feature to work fine as well. An earlier reviewer indicated it had a bug, but I think this will solve the problem for him. Page 42 of the manual explains that to change the Caller I.D. display, you press # until you see the number in the display change to the way you need it to be to dial it (i.e., push the # sign until the #1 appears before the phone number to dial a long-distance number). ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Love this phone!
I bought this item from a different store and must say it is a purchase I am proud of. It has many ring tones and jingles that I took the time deciding on rather than settling for. The answering machine on this model is great, and noticing you have messages and listening to them are super easy. Volume control is wonderful. The handset is small but not too small. I have a little one and she loves to take it around and pretend talk without harming it a bit. The features are great and the manual is straight forward and easy to use. I highly recommend this one if you only need one cordless. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Finally found all I wanted in a phone when I bought this....
I was realy looking for some specific features in a phone and was frustrated until I found this beauty. Either they had some but not all the features I wanted or added features I didn't want or need. I wanted a corded phone because I found that reception with a cordless was so bad in my basement apartment and hated the cordless batteries that always seemed to need to be charged too much. Then again I wanted a cordless for the convienence but I also wanted a speaker phone for those long "on hold" calls. I especially wanted a phone that had a back-lit caller ID display and I did not want an answering machine as I had voicemail through my local phone company. All this seemed like a tall order and of course I didn't want to spend $100's of dollars. This phone met all these requirements and more at a great price and the cordless part is static free with a long battery life. This is my only review I've ever written but I felt I just needed to. This phone is awesome!!

3-0 out of 5 stars Good Deal
I purchased this phone because we have a limited # of phone jacks in our home and I needed more phones than I have jacks. So far, I have been satisfied. The only 2 things I have found that I don't especially like are regarding the cordless phone. The volume is extremely loud and find myself constantly trying to turn it down although it is on the lowest setting. Also, it takes much longer than any other cordless phone I've owned to charge. However, it has sat off the charger for 2 days and was still able to be used.Over all, a good deal.

4-0 out of 5 stars A very decent phone
Basically, this is a very good phone with a lot of features. The only thing that I found annoying is that when you use the cordless, the sound is not very crisp. Also, the battery doesn't last as long as I thought it should. You have to recharge it for about 12 hrs; meanwhile, my Panasonic only has to recharge for 4 hrs. The reason I bought this phone is you get speakerphone, corded base and a cordless all for the price for one. As far as my experience with cordless phones (I have a Sony, Panasonic and a GE), Panasonic is the best.Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars I Love This Phone!
This phone is great.... I don't understand the bad reviews I see here. I have had this phone 2-3 years now and it is the best phone I have ever seen or owned and I always like to have the best phone I find. Quality is outstanding, I love the features and styling. I own a base an 2 extensions.
1-0 out of 5 stars Don't buy
I paid $130 for the base and also bought two other phones at $60 each.Less than two years later, I'm told the electronics are shot and too bad for you, the warrenty is expired. Now, I understand that the base was failing much earlier. I thought I was buying quality and service.I got neither.I didn't find the phones complicated to use; just a hassle because of the poor design.I've never written a review about a consumer product, but then I've never been this dissatisfied with a product.
2-0 out of 5 stars Great Phone...When it Works
I wish I would have read the reviews before going out to buy this phone system. The base station has been the cause of all the trouble.I can only get slightly over one years use out of it before it fails. The first time around, Siemens had a new one on it's way to me only after they first received a handset from me.It didn't matter to Siemems which one of the three originally purchased handsets should be returned. The company didn't even need to see the malfunctioning base. They just needed "a" handset and replaced both the base and handset as a set. Siemens honored the warranty even though more than 1 year had passed.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great phone!

This model has all the features I was looking for.The headset jack was very important to me.I have trouble holding a phone for long conversations.I also like having both hands free when I need to look for or write something. Two handsets and two chargers at about the same price as other models is a plus.I like having the ability to check messages from multiple locations, call the other handset or base, and transfer a phone list from one to the other. The display is also helpful.I don't have to remember speed dial numbers, and I can check the phone number I enter before dialing. The keys are recessed so I don't hit buttons accidently.A speaker phone on each handset is also a good idea. ... 1-0 out of 5 stars Skip this phone
The AC adapter for my phone just died so I call the phone number they plaster on the phone and on every manual. The recording says to email them or goto their website and then it hangs up.Why even give a phone number?I email them as instructed and the email comes back as not working. So I am still trying to figure out how to make a warranty claim.
1-0 out of 5 stars Seimens 8825 Gigaset system is junk
I was looking forward to getting this system for it's great features, but once I set this system up its been one moment of frustration after another. We began having problems with this system from day one.The cordless phone sound quality is horrible with annoying clicks and pops on all the 3 cordless phones that I purchased. The phones have problems with the redial and directory calling functions. It seems to have a problem not dialing the first digit of the calling number, so I have to manually dial the number EVERY time. This makes it useless for quick callbacks from either the directory or from the caller id list. The base system's LCD screen went out so that it displays only garbage on the screen. The cordless phones have an annoying intermittent contact problem with the chargers. They randomly begin beeping every 2 seconds until you slam the phone back in the charger.Calling their support people is a further exercise in frustration and gets me no where with this product. This is one of the worst and frustrating products I've ever purchased.Buyer beware.

1-0 out of 5 stars Don't waste your money on a Siemens phone system
It's unfortunate that one star is the lowest possible rating available, because this company deserves a minus five stars for its poor product and complete lack of customer support. Our very expensive system with five handsets worked when it was brand new, but four of the handsets have failed one by one and cannot be repaired. The company offers no support whatsoever, and the "self-service" web site doesn't work either. As of today the base unit of our system also stopped working on one line, so we are down to one line with one handset. We are shopping for a new phone system, but it will not be a Siemens. ... 2-0 out of 5 stars Not so great battery
I bought this phone based on consumer report reviews and the corded phone works great but the battery in the cordless phone is terrible. The battery dies after 1 hour of conference call. Then it would take at least 8 hours to recharge again.

I purchased the base unit (which includes one handset) and two additional handsets. They worked okay for about a month or so, then the handset started inexplicably dying. Sometimes the screen went totally blank and you would lose the call or couldn't dial. Othertimes the screen said that I was too far away from the base (even when I was literally right next to the base). So I called customer service and they said that it sounded like I needed a new battery (after a MONTH!). I actually read the directions before using the phone and I wasn't even putting the phones on the bases to recharge after every call so that the NI CD batteries wouldn't develop a memory (they don't use the better Lithium Ion batteries that do not develop a memory). So this made no sense. Anyway, I went ahead and bought the batteries (for all three handsets) and that didn't solve the problem at all. I then went ahead and purchased another handset. Again, no problems for a month and then the same issue. Customer service issued remanufactured phones (4 handsets) and in about a month to 8 weeks all were exactly the same.

Have had total of 3 systems. Generally work well. The WORST part is the OEM NICAD battery. It is HORRIBLE. Buy the Energizer NIMH replacement on e-bay. It is MUCH better battery. ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars It won't shut up or dial!
I bought this phone after 2 failed attempts with a Uniden 2.4GHz expandable model. This phone, however, is also maddening.First, the handsets, though in communication with the base, will not dial.Touch "flash" and begin dialing and NOTHING.No tones from the numbers, only the hum of the dial tone. The only way to solve this is to unplug the base.Second, and almost as aggravating, is the answering machine can NOT be muted. When the machine answers, the outgoing message blares like a roaring jet engine.Didn't anyone at Motorola think, 'Hey, maybe the customer will purposely not answer the phone?'It's so loud I've had to tape a pad of post-it notes over the speaker. If you don't have a baby sleeping anywhere in the house or you enjoy being awoken every morning by your answering machine, this phone is for you.Oh, don't forget to reset the base so you can actually call the person back.

2-0 out of 5 stars Disappointed, But a Workable Phone
We bought this phone at Costco with the 3 additional handsets.Overall the phone works as advertised.
3-0 out of 5 stars Great Idea and Works but...
I'm more likely to carry my cellphone and just use it rather than plug it into the dock.Audio quality very good.Only problem is that the phone simply rings for no reason every half hour or so.Even with no computer network or cell phone "docked", it just rings for no reason.I'm debating whether to retun it or determine if my DSL line is sending some signal that makes this phone (but not my other phones) ring, and yes of course I have my filter connected.Has anyone else had this trouble? ... I've had this working in my home for about 6 months now and it works flawlessly. The setup is really easy - just plug it into your dsl/cable modem/router and the electric supply and that's all there is to it! Absolutely no complaints whatsoever. Great value for money especially now with the rebate..
5-0 out of 5 stars vonage service has gotten better
I CHECKED THE OTHER REVIEWS (THE BAD ONE'S) AND I THINK SOME OF THEIR PROBLEM'S ARE POOR INTERNET CONNECTION'S BUT LOOKS LIKE VONAGE HAS INPROVED A LITTLE TOO. I DID HAVE A PROBLEM THE FIRST DAY ,TWO OF US HAD THE SAME NUMBER. THE SOUND IS BETTER THAN MY PHONE COMPANY.I HAVE HAD IT OVER A MONTH NOW AND I LIKE IT. WHAT I REALLY LIKE IS NO JUNK PHONES CALLS,I KNOW THE LOCAL PHONES CONPANY GIVES OUT MY PHONE NUMBER ,HEHE THEY DON'T KNOW MY NEW PHONE NUMBER AND I PLAN TO KEEP IT THAT WAY. BE CAREFULL WHO YOU GIVE YOUR PHONE NUMBER TO.
