good soud quality for the price
I bought these speakers when I fist got my computer whcih was about a year ago. For fifteen bucks I was very surprised by the soudnd quality and ease of use. the one big problem that I had with them was that when you crank them up, they become prety staticy and the sound quality goes way down, also was a little dispaointed with the fact that there is no sub woofer. despite all of this they were only 15 dollars. I would recomend this to anyone who eihter does not use their computer very much or does not like/need high sound volume. I recently upgraded to a surround sound system by creative labs and am much happier with it.

Really good speakers
The sound quality is surprisingly good. I took this for granted and only realized this when I bought the Yamaha YST-MS201 thinking I was upgrading. The Yamahas sounded like those cheap computer speakers that come free when you buy a computer. In contrast, these Advent speakers produce sound similar to speakers on a decent home stereo system.

Surprisingly good sound for the price
I purchased these speakers on a whim at PC Richard, without checking consumer reports or any other review services.I connected them to my office computer and was impressed by the sound quality.Co-workers had spent the equivalent on speakers that were truly inferior- (small size, battery powered, tinny reproduction).These Advents are quite powerful - I have yet to crank them past 1/2 power, and usually keep them at 1/4.This is probably due to their relatively large size, and to the curved faces that seem to angle the sound directly at the user. Good sound, excellent longevity.
I've had these speakers now for about four years and they still work just as great as the day I got them. An excellent value for your money and they last a long time! They sound very good if you simply use an equalizer on your computer. I am an audiophile and I can honestly say, these speakers don't sound that bad. The best part is, they never get distorted, no matter how loud you turn them. But generally, at very high volumes, the satellites can actually drown out the sub. My only gripe with these speakers is no headphone jack on the main satellite. Other than that, great system. Couldn't be more pleased- worth every penny.

Not really pleased...
Don't get excited when you purchase these. Most people purchases this pair of speakers in hopes that it's going to sound like Kurt Cobain is still alive and actually talking to you.
Very pleased, especially with the price
I bought these refurbished off of amazon, and was skeptical at first.But when I listened to them I was amazed at what I heard!I'm into a big booming bass sound, and the sub did a great job.The speakers also sound good, its cool how they are padded with rubber on the bottom, so they wont slide around on your desk.These were a great buy and the quality is awesome!Definetly buy them, you can't beat the price! ... Poor Service
Bought this item with the store pickup option.Was to be ready for pickup in 1 to 4 hours, in stock (store is 10 minutes from my house), now I receive an email stating it will be 1 to 3 weeks for delivery.Forgot why I stopped shopping at Amazon.con, I won't forget again.

Definitely a compromise
At 14 watts I didn't expect much power, which is fine.At $15 I didn't expect great quality, I didn't realize how important that aspect would be to me.I cannot bear to listen to these speakers, their response is so lifeless, the middles are dull and there is no crispness to the highs.Vibrant bass notes are betrayed by the tiny, tinny, woofer.
What did you expect from $20 speakers with a subwoofer?
These speakers aren't the greatest thing since sliced bread, but they're by far the best speakers I've ever seen in this price range.I spent a little more for the speakers I use at home, but these make great speakers at the office where I don't need much volume.You just can't expect much volume out of such low power speakers, but at a reasonable office listening level they offer a very rich sound for this bottom-of-the-line price level that makes them an exceptional value.I find that the subwoofer's level is very balanced with it placed under my desk.And they're attractive for cheap computer speakers, too.I'm using two sets of them, one in my office, and one in the lab I use.Most of my coworkers have computer speakers that cost a little more, don't have subwoofers, and sound very tinny, and most of them have asked where I got mine, only to be amazed at how little they cost.

From reading the reviews the product weighs 14 oz and is tiny. from reading amazon's specs:
Too Small
Do not be deceived by the photo this thing is tiny. If that is what you are looking very small low volume very portable I suppose it is ok but over price for what you get. I think $30.00 would have been about right. There is no bass response and for there size how could there be. I am keeping them but only because they are so small they might come in handy for hotel use only! The packaging is very cool but the fidelity is non existent.

Nice crisp clear sound
I got these for my laptop and mp3 player..have only used for the laptop so far..they sound really nice...theres only a few complaints...the sound doesnt go really high ...only to a medium range...also there is no bass or treble settings...and after a certain volume seem to really lose the bass effect...but for basic listening and light use ..nothing to fancy...they produce very good sound...and their JBL's. ... Over a year and still fantastic
Have had the SoundDock for well over a year, and the sound quality is still amazingly crisp, clear and even.For such a small unit it is surprising how easily it fills a room with sound, with almost no distortion even at high volumes.There is no fall-off in range or articulation of each note, even when going from a pounding base in pop/rock/disco to the delicate and intricate orchestrations in classical music as I've experienced with other speaker systems.Often the challenge for other small bookshelf units is maintaining fidelity in classical piano pieces - notes in the upper register often sound weak, distant, and somewhat tinny.In contrast, with this unit they are full and beautifully resonant.

First, I'm not a techno expert.I heard this soundsystem at a BBQ at my sister in laws house.Sound was amazing so I decided to duplicate it.Very pleased, sound is crisp & clear.Bought an IPOD Nano to go along with this. Very easy to use. We move it inside & outside with no problem.To me, nothing beats the BOSE sound.This was a splurge item and I'm very happy with the decision. Especially great for outdoor, makes excellent & easy sound system for our numerous BBQs.Also super fast delivery from Music Friends.

Excellente product for the money!!!!!
This is one of the best speakers i have bought! , i first tried some portable ampilified speakers made by "ILO" i am assuming a walmart brand which worked for the first few days only(piece of crap) after buying and returning two of those , i finally splurged the extra 20 bucks at walmart for these,well i got more than what i payed for . These speakers are excellent , the sound quality is great also it has a great bass and i am a real stickler for bass, don't get me wrong your not going to get subwoofer type bass but it is beyond sufficent.the surround sound feature also works nicely!

When these speakers arrived I was impressed by the quality, didnt feel really cheaply made, and came with batteries.I would've given a 5 star but it didn't come with an a/c adapter...but really if you need it for travel, batteries are more practical.When I plugged in my mp3 player and turned it on, the sound quality was way better than I expected.Last weekend I took it to the beach and it was just what I needed, compact with great sound.It is also great to listen to while I take a shower, it doesnt even need to be turned all the way up to hear it over the water.All in all I am very pleased with my purchase.

An excellent buy
I'll add my five cents to the generally very favourable reviews here. I've had the XT1 speaker system for three months now, and carried it all around the Americas with me. It packs up nicely in the carrying case, plugs in with no fuss, and the sound is amazing for such a small unit -- clean and clear, and easily filling an ordinary-sized room. I also use them as my standard laptop speakers at home -- while they don't rattle the walls like some of Altec Lansing's larger bass-heavy units, they also connect directly to the USB port, so they don't have the terribly annoying static buzz and interference of many cheaper Altec systems that plug into the wall. One of the nicest computer accessories I've ever bought.

Good things really do come in small packages
I've been really pleased with these speakers. Small but perfectly formed, they are beautifully designed and thoughtfully packaged with little velcro straps to hold each set of wires tidily in place and everything you need in one neat carrying case. Not having to carry a mains lead is particularly helpful as I travel to and from England and the US and am working towards being able to carry all my technology in one rucksack!

Very impressive for the price.
I have had these speakers for a couple of months now and I have enjoyed them considerably.Originally, my computer had been limping along with a pair of Altec Lansing speakers that came with the system.When I bought the Duet speakers, I had intended to use them with my MP3 player.After hearing the richness and depth of the sound, I decided to try them out on my computer.What an incredible difference!!These speakers have turned my no-frills, workhorse computer into a viable multimedia machine.I watched a football game on it recently, and was thrilled to hear audio that competed with my tv's surround sound.I can't believe I got this kind of sound for $40!

Not just static - mine sometimes get the radio...
I have had these for about month.When I first tried them, I was very disappointed because I was picking up a radio station on them that I could hear all the time, especially between songs.But it's become much less noticeable over time, I guess, and I haven't heard it during playback lately. So I would now give them three stars, if I were allowed to change the actual star rating. Except for occasional interference, the sound from these is good.
