5-0 out of 5 stars Fantastic Speakers
What a wonderful surprize. It took about ten minutes to install them to my HP Media center computer. They replace speakers that came with my 19" monitor which were lousy to say the least. (speaker make with held) But the vs 4121s surpassed all my expectations. While I am not an audiophile, I do admire and expect good faithful sound reproduction and these speakers more than do the job.I don't understand how the more expensive ones can do any better.Suffice to say I am completely satsfied and would highly recommend them to anyone looking for their moneys worth.

3-0 out of 5 stars Subpar speakers
Reviews for these speakers are remarkably mixed as you'll see.Unfortunately, I must agree with the naysayers. For the price, these speakers are quite mediocre. In fact, my Toshiba laptop's (Satellite P105) built in Harman/Kardon speakers sound NOTICEABLY better than these.I know, hard to believe, but true. The speakers do look nice. The right speaker has volume, treble and bass control as well as an on/off switch. I find the Bass to be extremely loud, even when the dial is turned to a very low setting. The subwoofer is quite large, larger than it looks in the picture. This may account for some of the reason that these speakers don't produce a sound quality as high as I would expect. One reviewer mentions a humming sound but I have yet to hear it. It's hard to find good speakers for a good price. If sound quality is very important to you, I recommend looking elsewhere.

4-0 out of 5 stars Loud bass.
These speakers are quite nice, but have the unfortunate tendency to disturb my downstairs roommate when the woofer is on the floor. ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars Not a good product...
Unfortunately this item didn't work at all straight out of the box.Spoke with tech rep from manufacturer and trouble shot the speaker system to no avail.Luckily for me Advent happily accepted the return and upgraded me to the Acoustic Research Speaker, model AW-811 which works wonderfully!

5-0 out of 5 stars We are enjoying this speaker!
I bought this speaker about a month ago to use near our hot tub. So far, we have used it daily (on batteries) and it has been working perfectly. The sound is a little "tinny" at low volumes but it sounds surprisingly good at higher volumes. We even bring it out to the swing-set while watching the kids play. It's also great for game night. I use this primarily on my computer and listen to internet radio so this allows me to listen to my internet radio stations anywhere in the house or yard. I'm giving it 5 stars because it has delivered what I have expected. The only thing I wish it had was a carrying handle like the other model does. This model was less expensive though and worth it.

5-0 out of 5 stars upbeatconductor
I have read the reviews and do not understand the problem that most are having.Do not think this system was intended to replace a outdoor audio system costing several hundred dollars or to be the speaker system in an office or full covered home. The reason I purchased the unit was after personally seeing the unit at a friends home, decided this is exactly what I wanted.Let me explain, I am 66 years of age and am informed by my wife that hearing aids would benefit me greatly - duh!!!!!Don't think so.I do turn the tv kinda loud but to me it is of normal sound. This unit I would say is perfect for seniors with a slight hearing problem.I place the speaker next to me and adjust the volume to suit me and my wife can set the tv to her comfort level. If I do get the volume to loud, will get some feed back but that is my fault. For the first time in years I can hear tv conversations without having to ask "what did they say"!
1-0 out of 5 stars HORRIBLE!
HORRIBLE is the only word I can think of to describe this product.I'll preface my comments by saying that I do not consider myself to be an audiophile.I am an average guy who wanted to be able to listen to my Sirius Sat Radio or iPod throughout my house and in my backyard while relaxing or entertaining. Here was my experience with these speakers -
4-0 out of 5 stars Not bad...not the best, but not bad...
Overall speaker delivers good sound quality, unless someone walks in the path of the signal or a really strong wind gusts blows through a nearby open door.Usally the quality remains consistent once i've gotten it tuned to current conditions. The best part is the rechargable battery, allowing me to use it in any room of my house or go outside and not have to interrupt my music listening. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars cheap little gadget that lets me yell at people over the internet
I personally hate wearing a bulky headset over my head whenever I use skype to call people, I bought these little gizmos for my family so we can all call each other via voip without having to wear some headsets. The sound quality is better than my home speakerphone and when used with a cellphone style ear bud, this thing is perfect for online voice chats.

5-0 out of 5 stars Check out the price
I got one of these about two weeks ago and I must say I'm delighted with the performance.I use it with Skype and Gizmo Project. The clarity and echo cancellation is excellent -- better than the headset and mic I used before.

5-0 out of 5 stars These bad boys is pretty nice.
I was a bit apprehensive buying these speakers. Bose products tend to be over priced, easily destroyed, and ugly. These seem to be an exception to all the features I've come to hate about Bose, while keeping the one bit they (almost) always get right: sound quality. They sound great. Really great and full, not unlike the Soundsticks, but for 20 or 30 dollars less and less bulky. You'll never notice there's no subwoofer. I've heard lots of PC speakers (used to sell them); there are better stereo speakers out there, but for $99 or less, probably none so compact, pretty, and vibrant.

5-0 out of 5 stars great bass
small size, typical bose quality.
5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent Computer Speakers
If you use these speakers for listening to music, blasting it up in computer games, or even if your a digital vidio/audio editor, these will be your favorite speakers you've tried. The front of one of the speakers comes wtih a headphone jack so you can plug that in if you dont want to wake your parents/kids/family members up. or you can use that to make recording music easier like I do (complicated to explain). Although these cant make any insane 120 decibal bass ratings or anything like that, you shouldnt expect that from speakers this small. It probly has the best bass rating of any set of speakers around that are this small, especially anything under 100 bucks. At the moment im listening to Jimi Hendrix' Electric Ladyland, and I have to admit this sounds awesome on high volume. I'm... basicly in awe. I've had these speakers for a few months now, and ive never been happier. Their better then the last two sets i had by far. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Perfect for travel
I have used my iMmini for 2 years now and it's perfect for travel and the sound quality is more than fine for my ears.Very compact and the fact that it also charges my ipod, means I don't have to pack the charger.Only problem I have is it doesn't like being dropped on a hard floor, go figure! Now, if the sound is turned up beyond half way, it cracks. So, I just ordered a new one at 1/3 the price I originally paid 2 years ago. Will give the broken one to my wife to use in her bedroom as she doesn't like the volume loud anyway.Besides, she's the one who broke it!

5-0 out of 5 stars Great addition to my system.
How much bass do you need?
2-0 out of 5 stars Nice sound but....
....the quality is somewhat questionable. After owning these fine sounding speakers for a little over a year, they quit working. You would think that for this much money, that they would last a little bit longer. And, of course, they are only guaranteed for one year. So buyer beware.

5-0 out of 5 stars Quite simply the BEST computer speakers on the market!

2-0 out of 5 stars Inconsistent

1-0 out of 5 stars Problem with hardware and/or software . . .
After installing the software on the CD and testing out the Firewave card . . . I started to notice that the songs from my iTunes were skipping quite a bit.I played around the Firewave settings for a while but nothing helped with the skipping problem. This problem is frequent enough for one not to just ignore it . . . this is in fact would be what I consider a show-stopper.The other minor issue is that the Firewave application has to be running all the time if you want surround sound. The settings in the Firewave app keep resetting themselves with each time you open the application, thus requiring the user to manually set the settings everytime the Firewave application is opened. That is absolutely asinine.

5-0 out of 5 stars Finally surround sound for the mac!
I am using this with a PPC mac mini and it works great! This is the first true external 5.1 audio solution for the mac and it does not dissapoint. It uses a combination of the mac midi settings and its own software.Audio quality is crisp and clean.I would recommend this product for sure!

2-0 out of 5 stars Annoying popping noises.
I've had these speakers for about 3 years now and I'm really not happy them. There is some hissing but that is to be expected with wireless speakers. The most annoying thing is the popping noises. I have tried moving the speakers closer to the transmitter only to find that the distance makes no difference. I thought the popping noise was some kind of local interference so I actually walked all around the yard but the noise stayed the same. I got a warranty replacement of the transmitter because when I moved the attached antenna it caused static in the speakers and I thought perhaps the antenna was somehow not properly connected inside the housing but the popping noise persisted.
2-0 out of 5 stars Not great - loads of static
I agree with the previous reviewer - there is a lot of static and interference with these things. We actually hardly ever use them for that reason - our house is small enough that we can hear the music from the other room through walls and doorways, and at least it doesn't sound like an AM radio on a stormy day. Also, they do have huge "wall warts" - the big converters (?) on the cords.Finding an inconspicuous place to plug them in is impossible, since all the inconspicuous places are behind furniture, which can't be put close to the wall anymore for the size of the things on the plugs.I guess you get what you pay for - I would have paid more if I had known how bad these would be.

2-0 out of 5 stars Not the greatest, and now dead
I've had these speakers for three years now. Hissing, popping, not holding signal-- all that has been true from day 1. And tonight, one of the speakers just would not turn on. The power supply wasn't the problem-- it's something inside the speaker box, and something that apparently cannot be fixed.

Editorial Review

The SRS-P7 passive speakers provide a lightweight, portable option for your personal music player. With their compact size and shape, these speakers are perfect for a dorm room or office. Because they use a passive system, the power to sound these speakers comes from the source music player. These speakers will not provide the sound quality or power of active speakers. That said, these low cost, low-weight, compact speakers do provide good sound. One way Sony accomplishes this is by featuring a bass reflex duct design; this design provides extra bass. There is one stereo mini-plug on the speakers so that you can hook up your personal player with ease. The speakers are joined together for better portability. Because there are no power adaptors or batteries required, this speaker system is easy to pick up and carry to the next room (they weigh under ten ounces), or to the next state, should you want to travel with these small speakers. Features

  • Portable speaker system is very lightweight (under 10 ounces)
  • Sony's bass reflex duct design for better sound
  • No power supply or batteries needed
  • Speakers join together for portability; connecting cord is 1 meter long
  • Stereo mini-plug input allows for near-universal compatibility

4-0 out of 5 stars Great little non-amplified speakers.
I am sorry for all of those folks who bought these expecting loud/amplified sound that would be able to cut through a lot of background noise, because these speakers will not do that. However, they do work very nicely for my tiny little mp3 player, and when I had my old walkman hooked up at my workstation/office at my job.The sound quality is decent, and at maximum volume on the walkman/cd player/mp3 player that I am using, these little speakers keep my happy, and do not rattle the folks next door.I have had these for about 6 years now, and now for 2-5 bucks, these are worth a shot.I paid 15 originally because they were new. They do not owe me a thing.A strong plus is that they are durable.I have found this out because I am clumsy, and so are folks that put stuff on my workspace. These have fallen from 12 inches from shelf to desk sever dozen times, not a problem.I hope you don't give up on these little speakers because some folks have put them to use with to high of expectations.

1-0 out of 5 stars Inadequate...you get what you pay for.
These are the worst speakers I've ever bought. I thought these would sound better than the measly speakers on my portable DVD player...WRONG! I was better off with the dinky speakers on my DVD. But if you love cheap, AM frequency, low volume speakers, these are the speakers for you.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great little speakers
These are great little speakers. They are small, compact, and they can hook together for easy transport. Some people who have reviewed these expect $8 speakers to put out like their $1000 stereo system. They are not loud enough to fill the house, but definately loud enough to fill a room. I use them with my ipod and am so happy with them I have purchased 4 sets of them and placed them all over the house. If you want speakers that are louder (though I have NEVER needed more sound than these can put out) you will have to get some that run off batteries or a wall socket. These are fantastic because you don't have to plug them into the wall making them very easy to move around.

Systematic failure? My amp died within 2 months of purchase without ever being played at high volumes. The customer service rep said the failure rate was only 3%.ONLY 3%?For a stereo product, that's a ridiculous rate.1 in 33 will get a bad apple.
2-0 out of 5 stars My Amp bites the dust.!
I have to add to the reviews on the amps in these failing. I purchased my Promedia speaker system through Dell on 10/04. Recently the sound quit working. I finally got Dell to send out
1-0 out of 5 stars Both Klipsch Subwoofers Died
The first subwoofer died (no sound) after 6 days.Remember, the sub powers all the speakers in this system.I sent it back to the company I bought it from and they were nice enough to take care of "Klipsch's faulty product".They asked me if I would like a refund and like an idiot I said, "No, just send me another one".The replacement Klipsch system arrived and it played great for about 14 months and then NOTHING.No power from the sub!Same problem but now my warranty is up.Klipsh has a way of designing things to work just past the warranty.Shame on Klipsch for making such a shoddy product.Shame on me for asking for a replacement and getting burned twice.Heed all these warnings my friends.I would buy used speakers at a garage sale before I would buy another Klipsh product.YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED! ... 2-0 out of 5 stars Not for Office Use
Like many other reviewers, I bought this unit with the intent of being able to play my ipod softly while working. However, there is not "soft" volume on this at all. If you're in a quiet office, it is much too loud to even turn on.
2-0 out of 5 stars NOT FOR OFFICE USE
Like many other reviewers, I bought this unit with the intent of being able to play my ipod softly while working. However, there is not "soft" volume on this at all. If your in a quiet office, it is much too loud to even turn on. Everything else about the iBoom is good and I'm keeping it because overall I am happy with it and will be able to use it on my deck, at the beach, or in the kitchen. But if your looking only for something for the office, do not buy this, look for alternatives.

3-0 out of 5 stars Volume issues
I bought this unit primarily to blast at tailgate parties for football games. It's fine for that sort of thing.Sound quality wasn't a big issue with me, I just wanted something to play my music loudly outdoors. However, when I took it to my office for background music, I discovered a problem:the volume won't go LOW enough. It goes from moderate to mute.Even at the lowest volume setting, it's still too loud for an office environment. If you're looking for something to sit on your desk and entertain you in your workplace, this isn't the product. ... Editorial Review

Designed specifically for listeners who want to enjoy the rich, powerful effects of surround sound without running miles of speaker wire throughout the house, the Altec Lansing GT5051 5.1 speaker system offers an intriguing alternative. The system comes with a unique pair of "stacked" front and rear speakers--the rear speakers literally sit directly on top of the front speakers--thus providing the crystal-clear surround sound that makes movies, games, and music so enjoyable, but without requiring ingenious and space-consuming speaker installations. The system works by rotating the rear speakers at an optimal angle for sound reflection, so car crashes still sound as though they're coming from down the hall rather than directly in front of you. And thanks to Altec Lansing's patent-pending Side-Firing Dipole Surround technology, listeners won't lose any of the sonic nuances or full-bodied audio opulence for which surround sound systems are known. The GT5051 complements the stacked speakers with a center channel speaker that delivers crisp dialogue and a ported 5.25-inch subwoofer that brings low frequencies to life. Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars excellent!!!
I have this hooked up to my computer for playing games and listening to music.I can confirm this is a great product.I live in an apartment so I try not to be rude to my neighbors. But when I have the sound on low volume, it's nice. And when I crank it up, it's still nice.
4-0 out of 5 stars Crisp Sound
The sound from these speakers is really crisp and clear. Its got the controls on the right satellite. Apart from the power button, there are 3 buttons for sub, center and surround, each of which can be set up separately using the common volume dial. It's not very loud on the bass but otherwise it sounds just fantastic. The space saving design is great. Saves me the trouble of running cables all over the room. These can be hooked up to your TV or DVD player too. It even works if you have a stereo sound card. But 5.1 sound card is recommended to get the best output and value for your money.
4-0 out of 5 stars Value for money...
This is one of first 5.1 speaker systems and i am pretty statisfied with quality and output. Initially the sub-woffer wasnt performing upto the mark.... but then later realized had placed it in the wrong position....
