Great Product Overall
First off, this CD player is AWESOME!Its definately a great choice!Everything about it is great.The color changing background, volume control, fully functional remote, automatic CD power feed (no tray) and loud sound with good quality are all great!I also like this thing cause it is compact, small, and looks way better than most other large ugly plastic stereos.Be sure to read other people's reviews on this since I don't want to list all of the good things!BUT, there are some things about this you should know.First off, for a stereo effect, the speakers can be placed just about anywhere, which is great, BUT, the cords are only about 6 ft long, thus not being long enough to place them in separate corners of a room depending on where you want to place the player.Secondly, sometimes the light in the left speaker does not work (Another reviewer had the same problem).Majorly, what is great is that the CD fits vertically into the player without an annoying tray, but, after about 6 months of use the power feed that pulled the CD into it didn't work anymore.Long story short after opening it up I found that many of the small plastic gears inside were broken and stripped.I suppose this could be avoided if you were to be very careful when inserting the CD.It happened when my friend inserted a CD, and he may not have known about the automatic feed and might have forced it in, thus breaking the TINY PLASTIC gears.Anyway, when the volume is very low(this thing will go very loud and keep good sound quality) there is some hazy static, so this thing sounds better when loud (of course!)Lastly, pretty much everything with this thing is AWESOME, but the small antenna plain out sucks.I tried placing near a window, but reception still marginal.It might be my area but I live in Los Angeles not far from any radio station.All in all great product, but just keep these in mind.Hope this helps.

Disappointed in Memorex MX4100
The unit works well enough (except for the light on the left speaker which doesn't work at all) but the speakers seem [inferior] and are very lightweight. They don't give a clear, crisp sound. The radio also doesn't seem to receive local stations very clearly. I don't reccomend this item!
If you are looking for a stereo with great sound, don't buy this! The sounds didn't work good at all! The speakers had to much static in them even when I played a CD. Even it's looks are great the system isn't. ... Read more

I guess you get what you pay for. I didn't pay anything for this system, so it was really no lose.
Problems right out of the box
The fun began right after I took the time to set it up. As soon as I turned it on, viola, noise hum. I disconnected the rca cable first hoping that it was something simple and could easily be replaced. Speakers were next and still there was the hum. You don't need a genius to figure out that with only the electrical cord plugged in, the problem was the player itself. Good bye Audiovox DV1201 200-Watt Progressive Scan DVD Home Theater System.

I'M 14 AND YOU SHOULD READ THIS BEFORE THINKING ABOUT BUYING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This looks pretty cool but like most items it gets old really fast! There are many things you can do with it and I thought it was really hard to put together because there are so many wires. This system has good sound and it goes fairly loud. If you wanted a a nice system I would not pick this Audiovox. Only get this item if you want a small surrond sytem for your room. I wish I had known.
Quite simply, I was totally dissapointed. If I had kown then what a total pile of junk this was I would have done more home work. If anyone thinks about getting this, STOP! I was a long time Panasonic buyer but never again.

Great Value, but the Infamous Popping is a Killer
I realize this is a very old product now, but you never know if some unsuspecting person is out there seeing it on auction sites from previous owners trying to unload it.
Don't let the looks fool you
I usually don't leave product reviews but because I feel burned so badly on this one I had to say something to warn everyone else. I was actually online searching for a way to remedy the popping and hissing, thinking I must have been doing something wrong, and then I ran across other reviews that were stating the same problem that I am having. This system really is pathetic peace of junk and I have been totally embarrassed by them on more than one occasion. They will pop and hiss (loudly) then the sound will totally disappear. Forget this system and don't give Panasonic another dime. If I were looking for a new system I would go with Bose. Yes, Bose systems are expensive but they know have payment options on their website and I can guarantee you won't get these types of reviews form their system. ... Read more

Better Prices, Limitations of this device., some Pluses
The FM stereo does not pick up well at all.I cannot get many local stations.The description says it uses USB 1.1 for quick transfers.This is misleading advertising.USB 1.1 is the slower transfer method.USB 2.0 is the faster one.

Philips HTS3400 perfect for the price
Hi,
DVD operation is very poor
While the price for this HTS is very nice, the performance is substandard.There's a hissing sound when the unit is off.The DVD player has trouble playing DVDs.I have a large DVD collection & most of them don't play.The surround quality is also very poor. It's a stretch to call it surround sound when half of the speakers don't put out much sound.In order to get this serviced, I have to send it out for up to 3 months.I bought a progressive DVD player, put the audio through the Phillips HTS 3400 and the video to the TV and suddenly the picture was better and the sound was better.

Highly recommended!
Had this for a year, it's been excellent.Couldn't really compare in the stores, too much other noise, so bought it based on reviews like this one.More than enough power, great bass, also we were pleasantly surprised to find the dvd player gives an even better high quality image than our former Panasonic.Easy to understand set up instructions too.Only drawback is that the speaker hookups in the back are kind of close together, especially if you have the fat Monster Cable connectors like we do.Also, the different sound modes are not really explained in the manual, you have to experiment to see what you like.We are happy with this!

Searched a long time, and here it is
Went to stores and heard a lot of HTIB systems, especially Sony, Yamahas and out of all those this unit CLEARLY stood out in terms of sound quality and even looks. I tested it to Eileen Farrel (spell), Jethro Tull and Iron Maiden and it retained the sound fidelity even at high volumes. I have bought it now and watched "Hero" on it and the surround was amazing and so was the DVD with very clear picture.
Great HTIB
I had low end Samsung HTIB that had horrible sound and the DVD player went bust. Replaced it with this, and the difference is like night and day.
