Too much base.No treble.
I love everything about this radio except for it's built-in tone bias.Too bad there's no adjustment for it.If there were I'd roll back the base and turn up the treble.My Delphi Skyfi Boombox sounds much better with good punchy base and crisp highs.The highs are so muted with the Receptor that listening to talk radio can be difficult.As for pulling in weak stations the receptor doesn't shine there either.The stock radio in my F-150 pulls weak stations better.Although the Receptor does have provision to connect an external AM antenna that I haven't tried.
An end to my alarm clock search
I have had this radio for 3 months and I am completely satisfied. Some of the reviews on here had me worried about boomy bass and poor sounding talk radio but I have experienced none of that. I was expecting to have to stuff a cotton ball in the rear port to make it sound good, however, once I turned it on I realized it was just fine the way it is. My wife and I wake up to the local NPR station every morning and both the classical music and talk sound great. The reception is fantastic and most radio stations are crystal clear.

Disney Red and Yellow Clock Radio
Personally I like the red and yellow "suitable for boys or girls" alarm clock better with sounds of disney characters, splashing in the tub, in an old fashioned car honking a horn, multiple alarm clocks ringing,andgoofy mumbling to himself "har har har". My daughter saw this one though and wanted to "trade me" for it. She loves princess anything and is willing to put up with all the giggling sounds.

I like it, but the sounds are not what I expected.
I love the clock, but I expected better disney sounds.I like the harp to wake up to, but the giggling and such is not what I expected.Though the radio, clock, etc. is great high quality.I love the big snooze button.

Not what I expected
Although the clock is cute, I have to admit, I was a little disappointed. I was under the impression that the disney princess alarm sounds were actual songs. Instead, your 5 choices are a ringing bell with birds chirpping, someone giggling with a bell ringing, someone giggling with the ocean waves, someone saying la la la, and a magic wand sound. I'll agree that it is hard to set the alarms on this but once you figure it out, it's easy. A nice benefit is that you can combine the different sounds or just listen to one sound on the sound machine portion of it. Due to the difficulty of setting the alarm, I'll only give it 4 stars.But, it is so easy to take on a vacation due to the compactness of it and has a radio which is nice too.

Not worth the price.
Unfortunately I received the clock one day and returning it the next. It looks cheap and has far too many steps to set the time and alarm, especially for travelers. Absolutely not user friendly. Had it for a couple of years now, and have gifted a few more...
I've enjoyed this for 2-3 years now.Looks sharp, sounds great, gets me to the church on time...it *is* a large for a travel clock, but a great size for a travel sound system!Friends who commented on it have ended up with one for xmas, they love it too.

Works Great the Second Time Around
The first time I bought this the CD player didn't work.But after getting the replacement, I'm now very happy with it.

I just went to look at this at Sharper Image.
It appeared very flimsy, and I was afraid to play with it, too much in fear that I may break it.I did try to find my favorite radio station, and wasn't able to get it.All I got was fuzz that sounded terrible.I thought that maybe, I didn't know how to use it, so I called over a sales guy at Sharper Image who wasn't too friendly, and he tried.... he gave up and walked away.So, if the radio doesn't work in the store, what makes them think that it's going to work in my house?That's the whole purpose of having a display so that you can test it before you buy it.So, since it didn't work, I left. ... Works just as advertised
I recently purchased this radio without reading the reviews.After I ordered I read that the auto-time set feature did not work in NYC.I was prepared to return the radio when it arrived because that was the main reason I purchased it.It arrived and the auto-time set feature works fine.I live in upstate NY, near Albany so maybe it is just a problem with the NYC area.Being able to set two wake up times is also a great feature.

Unexpected benefits

Broke after playing it 2 times
Maybe I got a bad unit, but mine broke down and the CD wouldn't play after using it only 2 times.The radio continued to work for about another day, and then it too went dead.Now, all I'm left with is a $69.00 clock w/timer!I bought this a few months early as a Christmas gift, so by the time Christmas morning rolled around, it was too late to return the darn thing.If you're going to buy this model, I suggest trying it out a few dozen times as soon as you get home to make sure it's not a lemon like mine was.

Excellent Features, Good Sound Quality
I'm the type of guy that is fanatical about my electronics.This clock radio offers nearly all the features I want in a clock radio with only a few draw backs.I love the flexibility of the alarm's.You can set it up to wake you only on certain days of the week.It also features what Sangean calls Humane Waking System which is basically a way of gradually increasing the volume of the alarm tone or radio.This allows for a gentle wake up as opposed to a sudden jolt when the alarm sounds.
