Finally, there's a way to burn vinyl to CD that doesn't require a computer or an engineering degree. With Teac's GF-350 turntable and CD recorder combo system, you simply load a blank CD-R or CD-RW, put on your LP, press "record," lower the tone arm, and press "play." You can record the entire album or simply pull select favorites from your entire collection to make your own unique compilations. Monitor your recording through the systems amplifier (3.5 watts per channel x 2) and twin 3-inch speakers, or avail yourself of the convenient front-panel .125-inch headphone jack.Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars Does the job, if you don't care about quality
As others have said, the quality of the turntable is really poor. I can't believe that a reputable company like Teac would turn out such a cheap quality product. The tone-arm is far too heavy on the record, and there is no way to adjust it. If all you really want to do is get your vinyl on to a CD, well, this will do the job without being too complicated; but at the cost of having good quality sound.
1-0 out of 5 stars I wish I could give zero stars!!!Save your time and $$$!
Like many others, I have a huge collection of L.P.'s and have been looking for an easy way to turn them digital.I thought this was the way to go.
1-0 out of 5 stars Very disappointing
I set this up and recorded one of my LP's on a CD. (Caution: It requires special audio CD's not the usual computer CD's.) The CD played on the TEAC machine, but not on any of the 3 other CD players I have in the house. And I couldn't load any of the tracks onto my Ipod. Sending it back for something else. ... With a five-CD/dual-deck capacity and 4x dubbing speed, the Sony RCD-W500C does much more than merely play your favorite CDs--it lets you mix and burn your own. The device records on both CD-R and CD-RW formats, and is compatible with CD, CD-R, CD-RW, and MP3 playback. To improve the recording quality, the RCD-W500C uses Super Bit Mapping technology to reduce low-level noise in the background, and High Speed Finalizing to prepare your recorded CDs for playback. 3-0 out of 5 stars It's OK,but....
It's ok for making exact copies ,but not for making your own mix.I bought one because my old PHILLIPS recorder, well it's old.Sony will burn at 4x and CD TEXT if it's on the CD.However, if your making a Road Mix or a Fav mix it will only burn at 1x and will not include CD Text;nor can you manually place CD Text while recording which I could do with Ol' Phillip. Ol' Phillip would included CD text and burn @ 2X 1 song at at time.If the CD wasn't text, you could do it manually while you were burning.I really expected alot more from a SONY. Oh, I almost forgot It will not Text'TRACK ARTIST' only the name of the disc and the name of the song!I wish I knew that before I bought it, I'd would have gotten something else!

4-0 out of 5 stars Works Great - After Learning
I purchased the recorder in August of 2006.I also purchased from Sam's some Verbatim CD-R Music/Data CDs.The recorder recognized the CD-Rs with no problem. These CDs can be used for both data and for recording music.I recorded over 100 LPs using these CDs.I had problems with error messages and sometimes I had to use 3 or 4 CDs is make a successful copy of an LP.The error messages came up when the machine warmed up - after making 2 CD recordings. The error messages were either C14/TOC Error (not able to read the table of contents when the recording process is finished or not able to Finalize. Also, received a C13 Error - not successful because of Vibration or a dirty disc -- the error message was not true because there was no vibration or dirty disk. I changed over to Maxell CD-R Music CDs.I have recorded over 15 of these CDs with no problems -no error messages. Some people experienceing problems with error messages may have a compability problem with the CDs they are using.I recommend trying different CDs.When the recorder is working the way it should, it is a great machine with great results.I have noticed that if one does not have the proper type input signal set on the machine (digital or analog) or the proper CD-R in the machine, the recorder will not recognize the input signal. The instructions with the machine could be better. The recorded music is as good or better than the LP.

1-0 out of 5 stars Not looking good.
I had read all of the Pro and Con reviews. But, since most of the negative reviews were a bit dated, I thought I would be reasonably safe now and decided to purchase the RCD-W500C, with some trepidation.Oops.Started it up yesterday and, essentially, the unit will not record.Period!

5-0 out of 5 stars Perfect solution for home cd recording
I did a lot of research on cd recording devices and read customer reviews all over the internet. It all boiled down to the Denon CDR W1500.It seemed too pricey direct from the "qualified" Denon dealers, and no discounts from them.I found one on-line that included the warranty and a good discount - so I finally got one in my hands. For the past month I've been transferring my old vinyl LPs to cd, either in whole or a track here and a track there.

Custom-built for marathon listening sessions, Denon's DCM-280 CD player offers 5-disc playback and multiple play modes, marrying convenience and quality in an affordable component. 1-0 out of 5 stars A piece of utter junk
Only plays CDs when it feels like it.My new one would never play a dic in position 1 and would not play brand new CDs in any position. If it played a CD without any problem, the next time I turned the player on, it would not play that same CD.And the seller would not do a thing.Beware.They are turning out pure junk now for CD changers.Carolyn Reed

5-0 out of 5 stars Very happy
I've owned my Denon DCM-280 for over 6 months and have no complaints.I've never had a problem with it not reading my MP3 discs, CDR discs, or store bought CD's.The changer works smoothly and quietly. My 6 and 8 year old kids have not problem using the unit.I bought a refurbished unit from Crutchfield and plan to purchase second unit for our basement entertainment system.I selected the Denon unit over the Onkyo MP3 changer because the Denon has a headphone jack and the Onkyo does not.A plus for the Onkyo is that it holds 6 discs, while the Denon only holds 5.If you want a multi-disc player that plays MP3 discs and you might want to use a headphone jack, I recommend the Denon DCM-280.

1-0 out of 5 stars I was not impressed.
First off, one caveat: I bought this unit "Denon Factory Refurbished" (NOT from Amazon). It never worked properly. All I can say is NEVERRRRRR buy anything refurbished. This is the second time I have done so and BOTH times the units have not worked. Also, beware on this unit if you do buy it. It is shipped with two shipping screws on the underside that MUST be removed BEFORE you try to use the unit. ... Read more

Editorial Review

JVC's dual-deck XL-R2010BK CD recorder lets you burn CDs in the comfort of a living room with no need to use a computer as a go-between. Using a component CD recorder maintains audio quality during CD-to-CD transfers and greatly simplifies the process of committing analog sources like tapes, LP records, videocassettes, and radio to compact disc. Deck one plays, while deck two records (4x for CD-Rs and 2x for re-recordable CD-RWs). Optical digital-audio input and output facilitate hookup with a CD or minidisc player/recorder or a surround receiver, while analog RCA inputs and outputs accommodate just about any audio source.Read more

Features

  • Dual-well component CD recorder integrates with your hi-fi system--no need to use your computer (4x high-speed CD-R recording, 2x CD-RW)
  • Microphone input lets you mix your vocals with a CD or other input source and burn the new creation directly to CD
  • Optical digital-audio input and output, line-level analog input and output
  • Sampling-rate converter (32 kHz/48kHz to 44.1 kHz)
  • Continuous playback (deck 1 to deck 2), 20-track/32-step programming

3-0 out of 5 stars Stops recording on its own
In manual analog line-in mode or digital coax-in mode randomly stops recording after 30 sec. of "no signal". The notion of "no signal" is the units's own, means that if the signal is below some threshold, it is interpreted as "no signal". Everything is fine if the music you are recording is "ooompa, ooompa". There is no way to record Arvo Part or Penderecki, for example.4-0 out of 5 stars Outstanding deck with a confusing manual
This is a great stand-alone CD burner/player....with an incredibly lousy manual. And that's too bad because once you spend time "playing" with the deck and experimenting with the features you'll find it a very sophisticated and capable machine.5-0 out of 5 stars Works Great!

5-0 out of 5 stars Philips is the BEST
I have used Philips, TDK and Sony stand alone CD recorders and Philips smokes them all, although they tend to be very tempermental with certain "MUSIC AUDIO" discs and occasionally freeze up.
5-0 out of 5 stars You'll never know how you managed without it!
If you've ever tried to burn your own CD using a PC then you'll love the simplicity of the 770. It's as easy to hook up as a cassette deck - with the added bonus of digital ins and outs. Copying old LP's and cassettes to CD was effortless, and the results were amazing. Much, much better than with a PC (or with a Pioneer burner that I used prior to getting the 770). Making perfectdigital CD compilations from my collection couldn't have been easier, and unlike PC CD burners, the CD's that the 770 burns are guaranteed to play in any CD player. Great for making mixes to listen in the car. I've had mine for nearly 2 years and have never experienced any problems. It's a great product!

5-0 out of 5 stars I love this
I love this iSoother ZipConnect Speaker System! I bought it because it was portable and it allowed me to play many types of devices through it. My husband and I recently went on a trip and we were able to use it as a clock, play songs through my CD player, and listen to his Ipod through it. The sound was clear and provided plenty of volume for us. We bought the extra cord that allows his ipod to be charged while playing and enjoyed that great feature as well. The only thing I would change is the clock. I wish the numbers were lit up better. When it is located across the room and you're half asleep, it's difficult to see the time. It's still a great item and I recommend it highly.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great item
We've had this for about 5 months and we use it everyday. We went ahead and bought the zipconnect that charges the ipod- that way when we bring it on trips our ipod can still can charge without needing our computer. The soother sounds are nice- love the preset stations on the tuner- no searching for a radio signal. Perfect size and great quality. Would highly recommend.

4-0 out of 5 stars Good sound
I've had this for about a week.

5-0 out of 5 stars Never a single problem
I don`t know why so many people are having problems with this unit. I purchased mine in 2000 as a factory refurbished unit, and have burned 10`s of mix cd`s on Sony, Maxell, Fugi, and other brands with no problems whatsoever.Use ONLY "music" or "audio" cd`s for recording. You`ll be surprised how many people try using standard CD-R, or CD-RW to save a few pennies, and then condemn the unit when it doesn`t work!

2-0 out of 5 stars THIS PRODUCT IS JUNK!!!
I purchased this product about 3 years ago and nothing but problems, headaches and wasted money is all i recieved from it.I should have known from the beginning this was garbage cause it took 3 units before i got one that worked. When i first bought this i thought it was going to be the coolest thing...well got the first one home and the cd bay door on the play side was stuck in, would not open at all.So i took it back and got a replacement. The second one would not record at all froze up everytime had to cycle machine off and on to get the bays to open to get the discs out.Called philips tech support, which is a joke, they only say are you sure your using the right disc....when i told him yes it was 74 min audio cdr's and one of them happen to be the free one that came in the box, he says there is a problem with your recorder, no kidding!!So i returned that one and should have gotten my money back but instead i was determined to find one that worked.Third time was the charm sort of...It worked pretty good for about a dozen or so recordings, then every so often it would still freeze up.Now the play drive will not read any discs.I have tried everything cd lense cleaner and nothing works.I will not be sending this unit in for repairs as i do not wish to waste anymore money on this unit.

1-0 out of 5 stars Nothing but problems
Philips just doesn't know what they're doing, plain and simple.I went through 3 different units and they all had the same problems!Read some of the other reviews for the list of problems; I've encountered most of them.I can't stress how bad their burners are! What a headache having to send it out just to come back with the same problems...on 3 different units none the less!I finally demanded my money back from Circuit City (who I wouldn't recommend either) and went with the Pioneer 839 from Tweeter (who are light years better than CC) and have been very happy with it. ... 1-0 out of 5 stars Avoid Harmon Kardon CDR 26
Aprroximately 1 1/2 years ago I bought a new Harmon Kardon CDR 26 (CD recorder). It worked well for the first year, recently though it has been skipping during recording and playback. This skipping problem occurs frequently and is especially annoying during the recording process. In the middle of a recording the laser will skip, basically ruining the recording. 1-0 out of 5 stars Harmon Kardon CDR 26
Right side laser (record side) skips frequently during recording and playback. This problem occurred about 1 year after purchase ($400). Still skipped after cleaning laser. I am very disappointed with this unit and would not recommend it.

This is definetly one of the Best product I ever used.2-0 out of 5 stars Performance marginal, customer service non-existent.
I purchased this recorder primarily to convert several hundred record albums to a format I could listen to more easily. I found that it was easiest to record an album first onto a CD-RW, use computer software to break it into individual tracks, then re-use the CD-RW.Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars Stay Away From This One
Recently bought one of these used, but in good shape (apparently). The cd-recorder worked ok for a while, but gradually refused to burn cds.I suspect this is a symptom of a bad product, not a malfuntion specific to the particular unit. This problem is consistent with other reviews I have read here and elsewhere.I should have listened. If you need a consistently good stand-alone cd burner, buy a Tascam unit.

5-0 out of 5 stars Good machine for the money
Overall, the JVC XL-R5010BK has proven to me to be a good tool to record CD's (about 50 thus far) which I have borrowed from friends or my local library...The JVC model is relatively easy to use if your recording an entire CD, but requires a little "baby-sitting" if you a putting together a compilation disc. Also, I recommend using Maxell blank CD's that have "CD-R music" stamped on them. Certain blank CD's (for instance, ones that are labelled "CD-R pro") will not record using this machine. If you are in the market for a CD recorder, I feel that currently this model is your best bet.

4-0 out of 5 stars Very satisfied so far
Have had this (actually it's predecessor model) about 9 months and am very happy with it.The only malfunctions have been an inability to set the clock (which I don't use anyway) and that I often have to press the open button more than once to open any of the 3 bays on the changer side. The recording of CDs from 3 sources (the built-in changer, a mega-disc changer connected via optical cable, and the receiver) has worked quite well.Non-digital sources require you to babysit the operation to insert track markers (left to it's own discretion, it treats bits of silence on a track as a new track).I've used it a lot, probably have recorded over 200 CDs so far, and the essential operations have worked perfectly. ... 1-0 out of 5 stars Philips produces HORRIBLE CD recorders
Failed to write, lost memory, damaged CDs, ruined over 40 blank CDs by failing in mid recording.EVERY Philips CD recorder we tried is junk! And forget their customer care even if you purchase their pricey coverage plan (which you will need if you buy their machines). The positive reviews appear to be people who were the fortunate few.Sadly Philips, which was one of the inventors of the CD technology, has failed to keep up their reputation in the CD recorder market.Buyer beware!

1-0 out of 5 stars Avoid this item...
I bought one of these, and it's defective. I'm sending it back. Considering that other customers have posted similar complaints, it seems like Philips has a problem with getting these things to actually work. I recommend not buying.

5-0 out of 5 stars Awesome Value!!
My main reason for purchasing was to transfer about 200 LP's to CD. For non-professional recording it is great! Easy to use! Only drawbacks, which probably would cause you to spend another $[...] are:Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Excellent unit still going strong
I have had this recorder changer for 5 years and have used it heavily.I have just completed archiving almost four thousand LP and cassette albums (approximately 6000 individual LPs and cassettes), as well as making fair use copies of CDs for my car player. It has been an excellent unit and is still going strong.I have not had many of the problems that some others have complained. It has many virtues and relatively few flaws.
2-0 out of 5 stars Happy at first, then the drawer defect hit us
Ours worked well at first and we loved being able to duplicate CDs for use in the car, but after maybe two years of very very very very light use, the recorder drawer refused to open.My subsequent research on the internet revealed that this player is known for this defect.Indescribably annoying. I don't even want to drag it in for repairs because even on the off-chance they do fix it, which in my experience is a rarity, I am quite confident the player will break again due to whatever the design defect is.Stay away!I will never again buy a Philips appliance, and they were formerly a name I trusted. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars COMPACT and SIMPLE TO USE
This is one of the best electronic items I have ever purchased. The CD recorder is VERY EASY to use.Just put in a disk, Press Record, and press play on whatever source you are copying. Then Press two buttons to"finalize" the disk.it's that simple. The unit is compact andunobtrusive. I cannot recommend it higher---I have been making my own cdsfor days now! Thanks AMAZON for the fast shipment and great pice!

4-0 out of 5 stars Best Recorder For The Money
After waiting for this technology to drop in price, I am pleased to say that it was worth the wait. Hookup to my existing JVC system was easy. You should read ALL of the instructions before attempting to connect or record.Use "DIGITAL AUDIO" CD's only. I found that all my CD players(Home, Office, Portable, and Car) Could play CD-R recorded Discs BUT nonecould play the CD-RW discs. That is the only draw back.

4-0 out of 5 stars Needs CD Digital Audio CD's
Handsome unit, well made and laid out. However, just so that you dont make the same mistake we did, it does require Digital Audio CD's and not the standard Recordables you can get for allot less money.I did not knowthis at the time I purchased it.I admit to not reading allot aboutelectronics but I would consider myself at least an average consumer.Youneed Digital Audio CD's and, if you want to record from another CD Playerdigitally, be sure that player has digital output. If it has only Opticaldigital output, you then need a fiber optic chord which is rather expensiveand does NOT come with this unit.So be aware of what else you will needbefore buying.Otherwise, a nice unit. ...
