Works Great
I installed this item on my 2001 Dodge truck shortly after I purchased my truck in Nov. 2000.I have not had any problems with the unit at all.My key fob has worn out, though it has seen some abuse.I installed the unit myself using their instructions.The install did take longer than I anticipated, but mostly because it sometimes took a bit to find the correct wire in the truck.In all, it has great features at a fair price.

Great features, if it ever worked
I had this alarm professionally installed by PepBoys (which is DesignTech's recommended professional installer). After the initial installation with all the wiring was done, PepBoys found out that the brain was defective. They confirmed this as well with several tests that they did. After being on the phone with DesignTech's horrible customer service, and several faxes later, they sent me a new brain, and I just mailed out the defective old brain with a prepaid mailing label that they provided. After my 2nd visit with PepBoys, it was the same problem. And yes, DesignTech sent me a defective replacement. Several more calls and faxes later, I got the 3rd one, and that one turned out ok.
Great Range and easy installation.
I have a 2005 Ford Ranger.I bought this unit and fully read the instructions before starting the install.After that I began searching for the right connecitons on the steering column and connected up the unit.I went online to find the correct placement of the wires and downloaded a printout.

Easy to install
It took all of about 10 minutes to install works well and has more range than the factory units do.

Works great hard to install
With no fault to the product but the installation instructions need work.What you need to know is that the leads to control door locks are not to operate the lock motor but rather to tap into a switch or relay.I first followed directions on the web site to find the right wire to tapp to only to just hear it's control box click and blow it's fuse.I had connected to the lock motor power instead of its door switch (which turns on a relay to turn the motor power on).After a little bit of frustration I removed the door panel and tapped to the switch there viola it worked great, much easier and faster to find just harder to fish through the door wiring.The remote is also heavy duty with great range.I think it's a great unit that expects professional installation.

NO CUSTOMER SUPPORT
Caution - the instructions and the web site offer technical support - NONE EXISTS! The phone number listed does not return multiple messages (although it says you will be called back in 15 minutes) and emails to the tech support web site are returned as undeliveable.
