BUYER BEWARE - AMAZON SELLING OLD VERSION 2
I recently purchased this item from Amazon. What I received was version 2 of this modem. The current version on the Linksys site is version 4. As a Cox customer, the results of my purchase were unsatisfactory. I will be returning this and purchasing the version 4 Linksys from another vendor.

had to be replaced
i had this modem for about 9 months and for the first 8 months it ran perfectly. unfortunately, it gradually became harder and harder to get online. it took longer and longer to connect and it kept dropping the connection while i was online. at first, i thought it was just Comcast having problems or maybe it was my computer. I switched the computer and called Comcast but still ended up with the same problems. it was the modem that was the problem. i didn't have any problem with Comcast replacing it for free though. they gave me a Scientific-Atlanta Inc. modem, so time will tell if this one does the same. don't worry though if you had bought one. Comcast knows about this problem and they will swap out your modem no problem.

Trouble free
I've been using this modem for three years without a hiccup.Although there are newer models available, if you can find a working used version of this modem (and your ISP supports it) it should (hopefully) last for years and cost a lot less than the latest modems.

Works Flawlessly w/ various O/S's
Got this modem over two years ago, and have not had a problem with it in those two years. It's been up and running for most all of those two years (save power outages).
Recommended.
I purchased this modem when I signed up for broadband Internet (cable) service.I have been using it for about two years now.I have never encountered any problems and it has never failed to function.The security "disconnect" function button on the top is a good idea. As a security precaution, I usually "disconnect" when I am not actually using my connection.

Trustworthy modem
I bought this modem over a year ago as an alternative to giving the cable company even more of my money via renting on of theirs.Ever since I plugged it in and got it activated it has given me zero problems. The only time it hasn't worked, it was because the internet itself was down.Read more

Great color, bargain price
I have been using this printer for a few weeks and so far I'm thrilled. It's compatible with Mac OS X, Windows (from 95 to XP) and Linux, has built-in network support and a PictBridge connector in front.

Consider this color laser printer rather than ink jets
This is my second Konica Minolta color laser printer.I bought my first, a 2210 when prices for color laser printers dipped below $1000.It was very easy to set up and use and worked perfectly for many years.This week I replaced it with a new 2430 because the cost of replacing the consuumables which were all running low was more than buying a new printer.The new 2430 is smaller, lighter, quieter, easier to use, feature packed and has twice the resolution of my old printer.I'm using it in a mixed Mac/PC network environment.The included CD contained all the manuals, drivers and software needed for both platforms as well as for Linux.Set up couldn't have been easier.I unboxed it, plugged in the power and network cable, installed the drivers on my computers and began printing.The whole process took about 10 minutes.The images look great and it can handle a wide range of media.A web browser based interface makes administrating the printer a snap.In a home environment this printer will work for years with no need to replace expensive ink cartridges as with ink jet printers making for a low cost per page.Those darn ink cartriges always seem to go dry at the worst time, like when where ready to run out of the house to take our son to shcool and he goes to print his homework but there is no ink.Also there are no nozzels to clog causing incomplete coverage.The 2430 is network ready so it is easy to share with all the computers in the house.Warm up time is very short and priinting is fast.5 ppm in color, or if you are printing text or stuff that doesn't need to be in color, switch it to grayscale and it 21 ppm.It's much faster than most ink jets and 100% reliable and at under $300 for a factory refurbished model with a 1 year warrenty a very good deal.My only complaint is that the display on the front panel has no light and is a bit hard to read.It is a very, very small complaint as there is very rarely a need to read that display, but a light would be a nice feature.By the way, I ordered the printer from Amazon on Monday and received it 24 hours later.I did not use express shipping, just the standard shipping.My order confirmation estimated delivery time at 7-10 days but I got it in 1 day. Good for a While
Like so many others I have had this modem for 2 years now. It was very good for about 1.5 years, with only occasionally drops requiring resetting. Now it drops data constantly and I am shopping for a new modem and it won't be a Toshiba.

skip this modem, not reliable
Like other posters have mentioned this modem starts to drop out and then total failure after 1.5 years of home use. They have an "on-line" diagnostic but since you can't get on-line with a bad modem, how stupid is that? A 5 year warranty like everyone else but big deal, do you want to go through a RMA process and wait for a $50.00 item? Seems that Toshiba uses low end components, so my advise is buy another brand. Bought an RCA modem at radio shack and tossed the Toshiba.

I use this modem for my internet (COX). It always connects, except once, when i was trying to sign on to AIM. (P.S. If any of you wanna give me a shout on AIM my SN is DukeCarMaster987.)

Great Until it Dies
The reason I'm on here is I'm looking for a replacement to mine, the one I was renting from Cox, which died after about 5 months- of course, who knows how long it was used by someone else.But it's not the first time a Toshiba product has acted up in our house.I'm going to try a different manuf.

Excellent and fast
Ive had no problems with this modem. It is fast, sleek and easy to use. It comes with an easy-to-attach base to stand the modem up or can be flat on a desk.

Could be great but ......
When the Toshiba modem is running, it is running great.However, one thing that the Toshiba modems suffers from is packet loss.This particular model is very sensative to RF signal noise.Because of it's sensativity to RF siganals, you will experience lags of 15 to 25 seconds because of packet loss. Other modems that I have tested are not as sensative and don't suffer from this problem.I would still recommend this modem if you only surf the net.However, if you plan on using this modem for gaming or streaming content off of the web, stay away. ... out of warranty, so it dies!
I had no real problems with this unit until last night, when suddenly it just stopped working. No surges, in fact it's on a line conditioner AND a surge protector. It's got power but the modem will not function. Naturally, the warranty is only 2 years, and mine is 2.5 years old. Argh! Look elsewhere.

It just sits there, hidden behind my printer, chugging away.
In the category of "better late than never," perhaps it's worth while for me to make a comment or two about a flawless piece of computer hardware that has been in place and running continously, without problems, for more than three years now. Normally, I do my best-when reviewing computer hardware and software-to review in a timely manner, so that others might benefit from my experiences. Nothing special
I've had this DSL modem for about 6 months. I got it free with Earthlink DSL service. I can't guarantee that any problems i've had are all modem-related because there's the signal itself to consider, but i do tend to lose synchronization often. It happened more before i bought a Belkin router, but it still happens occasionally. In addition, i was hacked (Win2K with no firewall) prior to buying the router so i have to strongly recommend not using this thing without a firewall of some kind. It has both a power button and a reset button, but i find only the reset cures any async issues i have. Turning it off and on only turns both the DSL and ACT lights off (both need to be on for Earthlink's service to work properly). Not much you can do as far as controls. It's a pretty passive device.

good product
At the beginning, I got the same time-out(20 minutes) problem, after calling AT&T many times(more than 10), they realized this is because I had not registered the cable modem with their server. After I registered it with their server, time-out issue is gone. There is a tech who visited my apartment to install the system for me. I just wonder this should be the very first step, how come it looks none of AT&T's support knows it?

Firmware Problems...
3COM cable modems apparently have firmware problems that cause the connection to your cable provider to time-out, so you get a tempermental connection and have to try a bunch of resets to get it going again.My cable provider sadi that as long as it was DOCSIS compatible, it shouldn't be a problem - now I know why not a single 3COM was listed as "supported / approved" on their website (for anyone who cares - I'm with Cox Cable in Northern Virginia). Disappointed
I bought this modem in January of 2002. Since March, I have had problems with the cable connection: I had many issues where the modem was very tempremental and would work as and when it desired. Not knowing that it was the modem that was the problem, I got into a large skirmish with the cable company. To prove that their line was not faulty, they installed their surfboard modem and that worked. Since July, I have been trying to contact 3Com. Cant find a number anywhere! The few numbers that are mentioned on their website take more than 4 hours to transfer to the customer service person at which time the line disconnects. I am fed up and dont know what to do. ...
