Tell users to get firmware update first
2 hours on the phone with support to figure out you have to update firmware. How about a sticker on the box, or a sheet inside that says "Hey we're too stupid to update the firmware before we box these puppies up and ship them."
Many Problems
I was drawn to the Linksys name given their reputation of quality.But, this model is terrible.I updated the firmware to the latest available with no luck.It randomly disconnects from the internet for all connections both wired and wireless.It also randomly freezes with no access to the internet or to the unit itself.I tried two identical units in the event the first one was defective.But, no.Both behaved the same way.I'm returning the second one as well for a refund and will buy a D-Link locally.My wired router is a D-Link and I've never had any problems at all.

i've had 2. both were JUNK
i've had two WRT54Gs and both crapped out on me. The first one worked for a little over a year, and suddenly stopped broadcasting a wireless signal. the second i've had for (literally) 2 months and it pulled the same stunt. tried the normal trouble shooting methods of firmware upgrades and turning off wireless security to no avail. i know it's not my laptop, because it's picking up (and USING!) about a half dozen signals that are near by. i'm outside my return policy, and linksys has a no refund policy -- exchange only.

great functionality at a great price...
I switched to this router after having the worst experience with a Linksys WAG54G Router/Modem combo device.Not only does the Netgear router have a modern design that looks good anywhere in the home, it was easy to configure and set up.More importantly, I did not experience the frequent disconnection of the wireless signal between my laptop and the router (which was a common occurence with my previous Linksys router).
No good for video streaming.
I brought this router 6 months back. I felt that it was good enough as i mainly used to browse the web. Once I started playing the video clips (mainly WMV9) off the net then I felt the pain. You just cannot play high quality video clips (not too high bitrate just the 386kbps clips) with this router. If I connect directly to the cable i can play those clips file.
Netgear is Nyet

Great product not perfect on IBMs
When I change users on my IBM laptop is hard to get the settings to stay. I have to redo all settings for each user. otherwise is a great product

problems with WEP encryption
The card works great when WEP is disabled. As soon as I enable WEP, I can't connect. My other Linksys cards (one USB and one PCI) work just fine with WEP. I am using CG200 router/cable modem.

Works great so far!
I use this in an Apple PowerBook G4 (17" model) along with a Netgear 802.11g wireless router and SBC/Yahoo DSL. Thus far I have had no problems. I have also used it in other places with other wireless access points. Again, no problems.

I like what I bought
A while back, I bought a TiVo and needed a USB network device to access my network.So I went to TiVo's website and found that this adapter works with TiVo, so I bought it and followed the directions I'd found on how to make it work.It worked like a charm.Since it's been up and running, I've had just about zero problems with it.
No more clutter
Great, now I don't need a 25 foot COX cable to hook up my internet. Best of all eveything is now in a network, desktop, printer,laptop. Easy set up as long as you read directions. Mine was a little tricky because my laptop is old and is a Windows 98SE system, so had to make a setup disk, but not a problem. I bought Linksey WUSB11(desktop), WRT54G(Modem), WPC11(laptop).

Works great on Win2000
The software included with the Trendnet adapter installed easily and appears to be very capable.It took only seconds to pair my Win2000 PC with my Motorola e815.I can use the software that came with the adapter to pull pictures off the phone.It's easier than using Motorola's own software.The software also allows for dial up networking with this phone.

I bought the TRENDnet adaptor instead of the D-Link adaptor which Apple supports, based on price and the reviews below. I'm using it on my PowerMac Dual 2ghz G5 to connect a Bluetooth Mighty Mouse. Unfortunately, when the computer is put to sleep the mouse goes dead. The only way to reconnect the mouse is to disconnect the adpator and reconnect it. This is a bit of a pain and requires me to only use the adaptor in the USB port at the front of the Mac.

Not worth the hassle
Please search for the thread on the linksys support forum titled "BEFSR41 v4 intermittent drop of connection" which goes on for 4 pages with no reply from linksys support, I'd post a URL but that is against the review guidelines here at amazon.
Be leary of the befsr41
I have had several of these routers over the years.. I currently have the v2 but the problem I am having is not version specific.I get disconnected from IRC and any messenger I am using about ever 5 -10 minutes at best.I have changed the firmware numerous times... I have reset the router I have actually changed the router out to no avail.This equipment is faulty and Linksys refuses to acknowledge the problem.If you type in Befsr41+disconnects you will see this is a problem with the entire product line... and most of us can not resolve this without removing this piece of equipment from the equation.

Freezes Computers
I tried the DWL-G122 USB adapter in two laptop computers - an IBM Thinkpad and a Sony Vio.In each computer, the adapter worked for about 5 minutes whenever I activated it and then caused the computer to freeze for about 20 seconds, then unfreeze for 5 seconds in a repeating cycle for as long as the adapter remained activated.I tried a Belkin wireless USB adapter in the same two computers and it worked flawlessly.I also noticed that during the 5 minutes the D-link unit worked in each computer, it its link speed was substantially lower than that of the Belkin unit.

worked but did not last long
This item actually works OK. WPA-PSK worked OK for me (with DI-624 router). The problem lies in the construction of this adapter. Mine broken after a few month of use. If you use it often on your laptop, the wires within the adapter can snap fairly quickly. I had to have mine soldered back on, but it is now broken again. I recommend that you either get a different one, or make sure using the USB dangle every time...
Drops connection
This USB adapter is wasting of money and time. Originally I wanted to upgrade my 11.b adapter to 11.g adapter, so i bought this one.It turned out a bad bad decision, the speed fluctuated so wildly, and drops connection several time an hour.And the distance betwen the adpter to the router is only 6 feet downstairs. ... Easy to install, works all the time
I have had this router for about a month and have had zero problems. ZERO! This is a big deal for me because I am worthless when it comes to anything with an "on/off" switch. The set-up was quick and I think anything with an opposable thumb could install it. The price is pretty reasonable too.

Drops connection- horrible support
I've had this router for about 9 months now and it drops the connection about once every 2-3 days. Many times all the lights on the unit go dark. Remove the power plug and reinsert and it will work again for another 2-3 days. Belkin support has been no help and firmware upgrades don't work. Total piece of junk. Will be switching to Linksys.

good router, but doesn't work with all ISP's
I don't know if in USA happens this with any ISP, but I bougth this router from Chile, and it doesn't work with mi ISP (VTR Banda Ancha). With other ISP's works fine.

Great for travel
I haven't seen a review yet that really compared options among various wireless adapters so I thought I'd give it a try.
Beware of misleading product marketing!
I have no experience with this product specifically, but this line from their product description caught my attention:
Great PC Card, much less than great rebate experience
First of all, I must give the Netgear WG511 its props. It is streamlined, configures easily and rarely drops a signal. The installation/configuration instructions are painless and I had both the PC card and compatible Netgear wireless router up and running in less than 15 minutes. My issues stem from the manufacturers less than adequate rebate "system". Having jumped through all of their flaming hoops to get the rebate information to the manufacturer, I did not receive any word on my rebate for two months. When I did, I received an email saying my rebate request was not valid. Upon some further examination and making sure they were sent all the documentation requested, I called Netgear directly. As it turns out, Netgear told me my rebate was not valid because they didn't receive the original UPC for the purchased items. I explained (repeatedly) that I could only send and original ONCE, but offered to fax them all the documentation I had INCLUDING photo copies of the original UPC, to which the declined, stating their terms and conditions only honor originals. The supervisor I spoke with was in no way helpful or willing to attempt to resolve the situation when I asked, "How can I submit originals when I sent them to you already?" and, "Let me fax you all the documentation I sent the first time..." I was eventually given the "I can neither confirm nor deny we received your original rebate request." schpiel at one point. The kicker of this whole experience was that though I sent a rebate request for TWO items, Netgear only had a request for one item. Both item requests are on one form! "How could you get a request for one without the other if they're on the same form?", I asked, which was met by, "Uh, at this time, according to our records, we only have a request for one item...If you send in a rebate request with the original UPC, we can honor your rebate request..." Essentially, I will say this: Netgear makes a wonderful consumer product. The product is reliable, user-friendly and affordable. And, I would purchase from them again - as long as there's an instant rebate. If you send in a rebate, save yourself the aggrevation and just pay full price. ... Read more

Average Router.Good for everything except Torrenting.
This is not a bad router, but it is not a good one either.
Very Nice Router
I've had this router for over a year now. It was easy to setup and never had any problem. Currently, I have 4 desktops connected to it via Cat 5 cables and 2 laptops connected wirelessly. D-Link is also good at updating its firmware. I'm a happy customer.

A reliable one; no connection drops
I have had it for more than 2 months now. During this time it has not dropped the connection even once.I have tried Netgear and Belkin in the past. They used to drop connection every now and then. I bought this one to use it with my VOIP phone line to replace my current Belkin router. So far this one has held up pretty good.
Excellent and stable
I've been using this router for a few days. I just had to set it up - I haven't had any cause to touch it since, it's very reliable. Highly recommended.

d-link 108g MIMO router okay :)
its an okay router from what it seems so far.signal great, clean no drops as of yet but as soon as you get it you have to update the firmware to use it..i tried and it wasnt possible to do without it... mine came with no instructions however, so to tap into your routers GUI to configure it enter 192.168.0.1 in the adress bar in Internet explorer... then configure there.. you can throw away the install cd that came with it or maybe try to bargin with Satan to take it back to hell where it came from because it is completely usless! other than that everything is good :) ... BUYER BEWARE - AMAZON SELLING OLD VERSION 2
I recently purchased this item from Amazon. What I received was version 2 of this modem. The current version on the Linksys site is version 4. As a Cox customer, the results of my purchase were unsatisfactory. I will be returning this and purchasing the version 4 Linksys from another vendor.

Extremely reliable!
I've got 2 of these on my home network, and they are able to connect to the wireless lan where other's have failed.I use the WPA-PSK mode, and it works perfectly.Connection is always up.
Excellent Wireless to Ethernet Bridge!
Purchased this bridge to connect our ethernet printer / copier / fax to our wireless network.Setup was quick and simple!I ended up connecting it to a switch to connect a few other ethernet devices as well.Each device was able to properly obtain an IP address from the DHCP server without interruption from the bridge, and the bridge is handling the bandwidth very efficiently!I highly recommend this product for it's stability and easy setup.

Eventually works well
The WET54G has been working very well in wirelessly connecting my MythTV box to the rest of my household. However, getting it configured was much more difficult than it should have been.

Easy to use and works very well
I bought one and found it very easy to install and use.
Everything I wanted.
Though I am an IT pro, I have never worked with WiFi. I had 3 problems setting up: 1) I couldn't access the setup utility in the router with it connected to another router, as I'd intended; 2) After that, I couldn't reach the Internet; 3) After that, I couldn't connect from my WiFi laptop.

Perfect connection were you are
This equipment is simply and perfect a viable connectionto the world "where you are"!. My work forces to me to travel to very distant sites where the communication was difficult and this creates a access point to me for connected to the world via Internet

Bad QA
Bought the DWL-G730AP from CompUSA and tried with 3 laptops. None could comunicate with the unit. Exchanged for another, this time I can access the menu after disabled all the firewall (bad practice) but that was how far it could go. It would be great if it works but I am unwilling to try for the 3rd unit. I just stay away from D-Link from now on.

I bought another competing product, the 3Com pocket router,because I heard a favorable review of it on the radio.That product is about the size of a pack of cards, and includes a short ethernet cable to connect it as needed, and a power pack.A carrying case is included to take things on the road.The directions were not very clear.If you aren't a techie (that's me), there were many gaps in the directions for installation.One example was when I had to label a network as "ad hoc" or "infrastructure," and I had no idea what the heck either was. The process became so frustrating, that I looked at the installation manual of this product: the D-Link Pocket Router.I downloaded its installation manual and looked it over.All the geek terms that 3Com took for granted were shown and explained in the D-Link manual.I then set the 3Com settings using the D-Link provided information.It worked fine. But, of course, by then I was interested in the D-Link Pocket Router and ordered it.I am much happier with this product for several reasons:First, as noted there is a detailed manual with full color pictures explaining things every step of the way; second, it is much smaller than the 3Com product, about 1/2 its size; third, and very important, the D-Link pocket router can be powered with its own power source, or you can hook it up using an included usb cable to your computer.So you don't have to have the external power source to hook it up; 4th, [...], it was less than half the cost of the 3Com.Bottom line?I kept the D-Link and returned the 3Com.It performs very well, is lighter, cheaper, and more versatile. ... How long will it last?
I have been using this D-Link hub for about six months.The power light started flickering after about three months and now doesn't light at all.The hub works great, but I wonder how long it will last.

But after about 18 months it started to behave strangely - losing connections - so I needed to keep unplugging and replugging it into the computer. After about a month of this it stopped altogether. And the warranty is only for 12 months. So instead I bought another hub which has a lifetime warranty. I've had problems with other D-Link devices, so I will not be buying any again.

JUNK! STAY AWAY
Unfortunately I bought this router (aka junk) from Amazon. Never worked smoothly. Did not like WPA. After I set the the protocol to WPA and restarted it, the router froze. Updated firmware, no use. Now its not working. Power is intermittent, will shut off whenever it wants. Freezes randomly. This garbage is going back to Dlink today. Dlink tech support also said that they are having a HUGE number of complaints with 524 especially revision D.
Rather poor
Really cheap router... saved me a lot of money.However, I had to reset the router very often because it just quit working.I had a few times where the power to my house would flicker in bad weather, and every single time the router just quit and wouldn't accept any new connections until it was reset.All my other hardware, including my Vonage Linksys router, that was plugged into the same circuit protector didn't have a problem with the power flicker.After having this router for three months, it went completely dead and wouldn't power on again when plugged in.After my problems and what I've read other customers saying who have used this router, I'm not even worrying about sending it back.

Very bad router
Do not buy this router because of its cheap price, because you will have to reset the power every few hours, if you watch online movie, listen to radio, or upload/download huge file, the router will drop likely in the middle of it. I am sure D-Link is aware of the problem, but they can't figure a way to fix their products. Why are they still selling a product that don't work. This is like a scam, or they think consumers are stupid and can easily be cheated. They figure if 1 out of 2 returns the product, and 1 keeps the junk, they still make profit out of it. ... Read more
