Editorial Review

A favorite of audiophiles everywhere, the AudioSource Amp 100 two-channel power amplifier is built to deliver powerful music, pure and simple, with few extra controls to get in the way. Listeners can use the Amp 100 as an independent stereo amp (50 watts x 2 into 8 ohms) when used with a preamp, as a second zone amplifier in multi-room applications, or as a rear-channel amplifier in a 6.1- and 7.1-channel system. Combine the Amp 100 with an additional monoblock amp (the Amp 100 delivers 150 watts RMS of bridged power) and a preamp and listeners can independently drive two front left/right speakers or two rear speakers, further clarifying each channel to create dynamic, high-end sound. To connect additional components to the amp, use the included stereo inputs with automatic priority override (for connecting to a source such as a receiver, CD player, or preamplifier) or the auxiliary output for creating a multi-amp setup.Read more

  • Pair of stereo inputs with priority override; A/B speaker selector allows multi-room amplification

5-0 out of 5 stars Perfect for retail space
I bought this item to use as a reciever to go with my XM satellite in a small retail space. It works exactly as I needed it to

5-0 out of 5 stars Genius Product
The reason I bought this amp was similar to another customer - I wanted something to use with my iPod so I could hook up speakers of my choosing. I didn't want/need a big-bucks home theater receiver with all the gizmos. The amp works a treat, it is solidly built and very low profile - fits in a small cabinet. Interestingly enough, I had the exact same problem with the amp switching - you actually hear it switch over if you have any silent phases in a song playing on the iPod.....was bugging me till I read the other customer's review....simply changed the input from Line 1 to Line 2 - works a treat now.

5-0 out of 5 stars Solid product!
I had the reported switching problem ("UPDATE: This device has one annoying defect ... a "clever" feature of switching inputs automatically when it senses no input on one of the two stereo inputs ... any stretch of silence will cause it to switch"). I called AudioSource and I have to give them credit. The problem is relatively easy to solve by using Input 2 instead of Input 1 if you're only using one input. ... Read more

Proving once again that good things come in small packages, the JVC FS-Y1 audio/video system comes loaded with valuable features for the discerning music and movie fan. The system includes a pair of full-range speakers (18 watts x 2) with 3.19-inch cone drivers, giving listeners the means to enjoy high-quality stereo sound when playing CDs, CD-R/RWs, MP3s, and WMA files. At the same time, it also displays crisp DVD video--with DVD, DVD-R and DVD-RW, VCD, SVCD, and JPEG compatibility--making it a nice system for the living room, bedroom, and anywhere else you want to watchmovies. It even converts Dolby Digital and DTS soundtracks into two-channel audio playback so listeners can enjoy high-end movie soundtracks (along with DVD-Audio discs) through the stereo speakers. The end result is immersive audio and video that almost, but not quite, re-creates the surround-sound theater experience (a process abetted by the 3D Phonic circuitry). Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Tons of features for the money
For the money, this has several great features. The sound really surprised me for such a small unit. If there is still not enough bass for you, there is a subwoofer output to plug into. It has aux. input to hook the TV to so you can watch the game or race with a little more than just the tiny TV speakers.
3-0 out of 5 stars Great sound, beware of player noise
Sound quality is excellent, ton of features (plays almost every music format there is, not to mention DVDs), compact and aesthetically pleasing. However, the unit itself is very noisy during disc play. A loud high pitch whirring noise from the CD motor can be heard over low to medium volumes. You'd have to pretty much set to high volumes when playing music or movies if you want to drown out any of the noise coming from the CD unit. If you can live with the noise, this is a good buy, nothing else compares when it comes to the available features. But beware, the inability of the unit to control disc noise may be why it's so affordable.

5-0 out of 5 stars Amazing little system
I have a large 100 watt stereo setup that consists of five JVC components and two pairs of speakers. I bought this system as something I could play easily when I wasn't doing "serious" listening.

5-0 out of 5 stars Basic preamp with a decent sound
I'm using this preamp with an Adcom power amp and Sony SACD player mainly for music on my back porch with remote Polk outdoor speakers. This is not for critical listening--all I wanted was decent sound with minium fuss. The AudioSource does a good job for this setup and I'm very happy with the product. It doesn't have much in the way of features but that's okay with me.If I was depending on it for my main system, I would want a remote control. If that's unimportant to you, the price is right.

1-0 out of 5 stars Quality Control?
I just received my AudioSource pre one/a preamp in the mail.Anxious, I hooked everything up (correctly) and immediately noticed noise coming from my speakers, which resembled speakers that had damaged voice coils. How could this be?I tried another set of speakers, and the same result occured. Not believing it could be the brand new preamp, I had one more card up my sleeve.I hooked up my Koss Pro4/AA's via a y-connector out of one set of preamp outs on the back of the AudioSource preamp. To make a long story longer, after finishing this review, I'm shipping this lemon back!BOO- AudioSource!P.S.- I reluctantly gave this item 1 star, but I guess that's where the scale starts!David Ramos,Tehachapi,California
4-0 out of 5 stars Great value!
5 stars for value and sound quality. 1 star less for lack of headphone amp. You won't be disappointed with AudioSource Pre One/A unless your audio equipment is worth good car and you listen to music in soundproof chamber. If you do, take one star off my rating. ... Read more

Not everyone wants or needs a single feature-loaded surround receiver, which is where the AudioSource Amp One/A 160-watt stereo amplifier comes into play. A favorite of audiophiles everywhere, the device is built to deliver powerful music, pure and simple, with few gratuitous extra controls to get in the way. Listeners can use the Amp One/A as an independent stereo amp (80 watts x 2) when used with a preamp, or as an adjunct amp for a low-powered surround receiver with preamp outputs (it delivers 200 watts of mono power). Combine the Amp One/A with an additional monoblock amp and a preamp and listeners can powerfully drive two front left/right speakers or two rear speakers, further clarifying each channel to create dynamic, high-end sound. To connect additional components to the amp, use the included line-in jacks (for connecting to a source such as a receiver, CD player, or preamplifier) or the line-out/thru jacks (for creating a multi-amp setup). It's also simple to switch between stereo and mono modes thanks to the bridging switch.Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent value and sound; one of the best deals in amps!
I have been an audiophile since I was a teen (over 20 years), having owned some truly high end amplifiers like Bryston, Audio Research, and currently in my main system, a McIntosh MC162.All phenomenal amps.I also happen to own an AudioSource AmpTwo and an AmpOne, both superb amps for the money. The only difference with the AmpTwo, is that it has left and right channel lit VU meters that measure watts output and 'headroom' in db units.Very cool indeed!Other than this, the AmpOne is identical to the AmpTwo.The AmpOne is set up in my home office connected to higher end equipment like Parasound and a Denon HDCD player. My speakers are the very venerable and respected bookshelf horn speakers, the JBL HLS-610, which is very well balanced and revealing of source material and equipment. And lastly, I run fairly expensive 'StraightWire' interconnect cables between my components. That said, I have been blown away by the quality and neutral sound of thisamplifier! The amp sounds detailed, accurate, warm, sweet, and powerful - attributes usually found in more expensive high end amplifiers as mentioned above, usually costing thousands of dollars!Quite an amazing feat for this solid little affordable AudioSource that satisfies even high demand audiophile ears like mine. Moreover, I have tested the AmpOne and AmpTwo while driving difficult power hungry loads, such as Magneplanar 4 ohm speakers, and they performed beyond my expectations.Kudos to AudioSource for providing one of the truly 'best bang for the buck' deals in stereo amplification out there!I highly, HIGHLY recommend this product.

5-0 out of 5 stars VERY good amp for the money
very flat sounding. i'm tired of people comparing other amps and thinking they are better for one reason or another.. but thats consumer audio for you... the goal should be to have flat sound that is as true to the origional recording as possible.5-0 out of 5 stars AudioSource Amp One/A - great value and quality!
I bought 2 AudioSource Amp One/A's and am running them as monoblocks to drive my front L/R speakers. The difference in sound quality over my Marantz SR-5300 (brand new) is quite stunning. The sound stage sounds much wider and deeper, and even the most delicate note can be clearly heard.I'm using the Marantz as a preamp to drive the AudioSource amps, BTW.With the AS's taking the load of the front speakers, the Marantz's dynamics and clarity have also improved dramatically with multi-channel recordings since it's now only handling the center and surround speakers.Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars Onkyo

3-0 out of 5 stars Good, But I am glad I did not buy anything cheaper
I was looking for a "cheap" amp to drive my 2nd zone "background" music speakers. My price point was around $200 and this unit has a good look to it, so it would fit in next to my more "up scale" B&K separates.

3-0 out of 5 stars Fills a market niche for an affordable, user-friendly tuner
Per comments in the other review on this tuner, no, the tuner market hasn't disappeared, it's just fragmemented. The trend towards home theater has really hit the stereo component market, pretty much killing the low and middle end sections of it (the high end audio market is still going strong, with plenty of tuners in the $500+ range available).
4-0 out of 5 stars Good tuner, decent price
My old tuner recently gave up the ghost, so I got the Teac R670. Can't argue with the price, and it works pretty well. AM and FM reception are both pretty decent, although FM is not nearly as good as my Tivoli Model Two radio. AM is much better than the Tivoli.

5-0 out of 5 stars Good value for a component system
I bought two of these to power my Bose 901 Series VI speakers. The pre-amp is also an Audiosource item. Although these amps are rated the same as the Kenwood system they replace, the sound is cleaner and much louder than before. They are, however, absent of a few features many have come to expect from audio products of late, including headphone jacks (each amp has one 1/4" mono headphone jack) remote control, and surround sound.

5-0 out of 5 stars Perfect Amp for my center channel
This Amp did not disappoint! Our main Dolby 5.1 audio system has one big drawback: the speakers are all mounted in the downstairs ceiling and my daughter's room is right above them so I can' run them after 7:00pm when she goes to sleep. Problem is, without a true center channel running, my wife and often have trouble picking up dialog from the weak built-in speakers of our 61" JVC HDTV.
5-0 out of 5 stars Nice small, versatile amp.
I use pairs of these in my conference rooms. They provide pleny of power, are small, support both balanced and unbalanced inputs, and the auto-power feature means I don't even have to touch them; when the audio source is turned off so do all the amps.
5-0 out of 5 stars good value

This Guitarport-Rifftracker setup is a really elegant piece of work. The Guitarport element lets the guitarist emulate a near infinite number of sounds produced by pre-amps and some of the most popular guitar amps and cabinets produced over the last 50 or so years, not to mention the tweaking you can achieve with the virtual preamp and effect settings. The Rifftracker element of the package offers basically a full service recording studio that ties into the Guitarport applications. You can even do rhythm tracks with simulated percussion. The integration of both halves of this package is one of its strong points, as anyone who has tried to mix and match recording sofware with another application that does what Guitarport does can attest.

Editorial Review

Editorial Review

Designed specifically to power the ButtKicker LFE and Concert--the "silent subwoofers" that simulate the feeling of heavy bass through your furniture without the excessive volume--the BKA1000-4 amplifier offers an easy and affordable way to install the shakers. Simply connect one end of an RCA cable to your processor's subwoofer out and the other into the amp, and then run 12-gauge speaker wire from the amp to the ButtKicker. That's all there is to it, with no preamp required. The amp is powerful enough at 2,100 watts into 2 ohms to run as many as four ButtKicker LFEs used in individual home theater seats, or two units wired in parallel (1,050 watts x 2). The multi-unit setup also makes the BKA 1000-4 more cost effective than other solutions, as listeners don't need to power each ButtKicker separately. And because it's 120 to 240 volts (switchable), the amp works in countries around the world.Read more
