2-0 out of 5 stars it's a lemon
I was ready to really love this pda. It's nice and thin, feels good in the hand and was the cheapest PDA with wireless. I mainly needed it to check my email when i'm out and about.
4-0 out of 5 stars Works as designed...mostly
It does everything they sayt it does. My only quibbles keeping this from 5 star status is Windows Media Player insists on loading media into the small internal memory rather than my 1 gb sd card. And the wireless occasionally does not connect to my access point, dropping th ewep key settings when it doesnt connect right away. One other flaw is the terrible IR range.
5-0 out of 5 stars Bravo!
This is an extraordinary, cute and very well priced pocket PC which I am sure you will also love once you take it in your hands. It offers various operations and is small enough to put it in your pocket. I am very, very satisfied with it and I want to congratulate HP for yet another great product! ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Great - battery life EXCELLENT!
To put everyone's mind at ease, BATTERY DRAIN PROBLEM HAS BEEN FIXED (you simply have to do a few steps to fix it).BATTERY LIFE IS EXCELLENT once you complete the fix(I can go several days on standby and still have well over 80% battery power left).
5-0 out of 5 stars Battery Drain Solution
Just thought I'd add this bit for people who suffer the battery drain problem. This happens when you have an SD card inserted and a working Activesynch connection. It has something to do with constantly monitoring the card's output.
5-0 out of 5 stars greatest decision ever

2-0 out of 5 stars NOT compatible
I am not a tech 'saavy" person.I found it extremely dificult to begin using my unit.I wasted HOURS of my life on hold and on the phone with tech support trying to trouble shoot the problems. The first dude was okay helpful, but it didn't matter, because after a 62 minute phone call (including 30 minutes of hold time) still the unit was not functioning. The next 2 cust service people decided that it could be the cord, so each of them sent me out a new cord- which was not the problem. The next dude was much more knowledgeable and we found out that my processor, because it is not intel, was not compatable-that is after I also found out that the disc they send is DVD, not CD, so I was already using my daughters computer to attempt to load the disc.So in the end, I was able to copy the DVD onto the hard drive then copy to the card reader. But of course, I have still not loaded active sync and therefore I cannot back up or save any contact or calender info.I was told from Garmin that if the batteries die then all your contact and calender info is deleted.I can buy an additional backup system and back the info up to the SD card, but I will have to borrow a friend's compatible computer to do that!!!!
3-0 out of 5 stars Nice idea but buggy software
I bought this unit as a gift for my wife. We already have a Garmin GPS unit that we love and she had a need for PDA functionality so this seemed ideal.
5-0 out of 5 stars I love it
This is better than I expected with large software interface buttons and loud speaker. The only thing is...if you are not familiar with GPS devices, it may take you a little while to figure out how the antenna aquires a signal. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars finally got it, and love it
I used to have RX3115, but I took the LCD out to replace the cracked LCD on HX2415
5-0 out of 5 stars not for everybody, but it does have a lot for the $
My attraction to the RX 3715 is the bundle of features it contains, including Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, reasonable memory with a 1 GB SD card, and the little digital camera. If you are looking for more speed, this is not for you. But, if you want a multi-package, it is.
4-0 out of 5 stars You have to learn your PDA first...
Basically I got the same problem as Frank did and I suspect we are not alone here. One day the screen started freezing on me right at the end of the booting sequence and software reset did not help. I thought something had burned out inside and prepared to send it back for warranty repair. However after short talk to HP tech support it turned out that special hardware reset (two buttons and one pin, you can find it in product support section at www.hp.com) perfectly solves this problem at the unfortunate price of losing everything stored in the memory. I have worked out a good habit to back up memory regularly so it took me 5 minutes to recover. Regarding the searches of more reliable device I have one question: Are you always changing your desktop computer when Windows freezes on you? PDA is just another computer with Windows on it, so be prepared for unexpected particularly when you feed your little buddy with uncertified software. The camera on this device did not meet my expectations. I need sharp pictures of text. I am too lazy for re-typing info from different text sources and prefer taking a picture of them, but most of my pictures turns out to be unreadable. (Maybe I am a lousy picture taker, but this device does not work for me anyway). In spite of all the above I like this device. MP3s sound great. Outdoor pictures turns out good. Movies play smooth and nice. Mike is acceptable for speech recording. Battery life is unmatched as long as you do not turn on wireless. What else do you expect from small multimedia PDA? I would buy it again, especially if it were half-price:) ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars FANTASTIC PDA!!!!
This was my first PDA, and I wanted to purchase one mainly as a medical reference tool.Having no prior experience with PDA's, I carefully read the reviews on various websites on a number of high end Palm and PocketPC PDA's.I was in a quandry, because the reviews were so mixed. While the majority gave favorable or so-so reviews of the various models, many were greatly disappointed and described horror stories of wasting days trying to get the product to work properly.
5-0 out of 5 stars Amazing
Ibought this one mainly for medical use. After paying I started looking for reviews and was horrified to find out that it had many OS problems
5-0 out of 5 stars HP's best pocket PC to date
This is the third iPaq I've purchased in the last 5 years. It has all the bells and whitles of the previous versions with the newer version of Windows Mobile. other than better memory management (a lot better, I might add) the only other difference Win Mobile 5 added was PowerPoint.

5-0 out of 5 stars Good pocket pc
This is a great pocket pc it has everything I need to do my work. I would highly recomend you get this for your teenager because can help them with their school work.

1-0 out of 5 stars You will waste your life trying to get it to work.
I bought mine in Dec 04. Like many people I thought I needed this to stay organized. The basic features worked fine (Contacts, Calendar, etc..) It's when you try to use features like Wifi, bluetooth, Nevo, Etc... that you waste hours before you get it to work properly. If you have the time you can get them to work, but I found that I never really used the wifi or any multimedia features.
2-0 out of 5 stars Didn't want to tap anymore

4-0 out of 5 stars GRRREEEEAAAAT
I have owned my Axim for about 3 years and I love it. Sure there are better looking PDA's out there (Palm & Sony) but I have to use MS Office for work and tend to use it at home as well so there was really no alternative. That said it is a good thing!!! I use mine for e-mail and browsing although browsing can be slow due to processing power. I added a CF Wifi card which is cool, I also found an external folding keyboard and docking station on e-bay at a great price. I used to use a Psion 5 cause it had an excellant keyboard but now I use the Dell all the time. Add a 256mb CF or SD and you have storage for a shed load of songs, the media player works great!!! I also wrote a book on it last year (which was published!!) I have used it with TomTom software and GPS which worked vey well. I have also sync'd my mobile (cell) phone with it to use as a modem and back up my contacts on that via IR although bluetooth works better. My only gripe is the back-up battery can drain very quickly and i have lost all info once but now keep regulary backed up to avoid this problem.

1-0 out of 5 stars Screen Froze and No Option to Repair
Up until recently I have enjoyed the Axim. That is, until the screen froze. It no longer responds to the stylus. I called Dell Tech Support (if you can call it that) and they told me THEY DO NOT REPAIR THE AXIM. My only two options were to trade in my existing Axim for the same model (yeah, right) which would cost me about $150, or buy a completely new pda. They don't even have a service dept. for the Axim. I couldn't believe that any company would put their name on a product and not stand behind it. DO NOT BUY DELL.

2-0 out of 5 stars Dell Customer Service leaves a lot to be desired.
I've been reading the reviews about Dell Customer Service on Amazon and other shopping web sites.I was relieved to see that I was not the only one that has expeirenced the difficulties dealing with Dell. They continue to show a lack of organization and because of that I'm now sure they spend a lot of time apologizing to their customers.Tech support is a hit or miss depending who you talk to, if you can understand what they are saying.

5-0 out of 5 stars Really Good Product
I really love this Ipaq it has every thing I need to do my Job with. This can really replace your laptop. But if you do buy this you will need a WiFi card to connect to the internet. Hp Job well done with this Ipaq.

1-0 out of 5 stars wireless sdcard drains battery!! AVOID
I just thught people should know- It claims to be expandable with sd cards-while true to an extent. I purchased an expensive sd network card; now i can surf. Only for about ten minutes, because sd cards drain the battery FAST!! Now I wish I had saved up for a Dell Axim which has the network built in. My point is you get what you pay for! I hope this helps you avoid a mistake I made- thought i could save a few bucks (what a dummy don't be fooled I give the 2215 a failing grade)

1-0 out of 5 stars battery is very bad
This product has one BIG flaw. If the battery goes dead everything is lost. The back up battery does not work. There is no way to protect yourself if you remove the battery unless you back up daily. The battery case opens often and the battery falls out. I have lost data so many times that I am replacing this product. I like all the other features. The battery problem is a deal breaker. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars I'm surprised by the problems
I've had my 4155 for almost 3 years and am shocked by the screen problems people have commented on here. I've never had any issue with the lcd and have dropped my unit multiple times (this is an understatement since I'm a clutz). It is carried with me and used often thoughout the day. I have no issues with the wifi and really have no complaints. I have not been cautious with the touchscreen and it is scratched in places (different from the lcd breaking) so I would advise anyone who is buying one to use a good screen protector from the beginning. Also, don't let the battery die because it will hard reset and you'll have to put all your programs back on. Best to back it up weekly or so using the backup utility it comes with and putting the backup on a storage card. Good luck with your purchase!

4-0 out of 5 stars Great Balance of Size and Features
I have owned the iPAQ 4155 for 11 months now (after replacing a 3600 series) and have used it every day since.I can say that it has met or exceeded my expectations in nearly every way.The battery life exceeds 3 days of normal use for me (I haven't seen the battery below about 40 percent even after 3+ days of no charging). The wireless is fairly easy to setup to get on the internet, although I have not found this feature as useful as I thought.More complex wireless operations, like setting up a virtual desktop, are not as straight forward and the entire wireless configuration - asking weather a wireless connection is for "work" or "the internet" - could be simplified (what if it is both?) and have some bugs removed. That being said, I have rarely found the desire/need to get onto a wireless connection once the newness wore off. This may be different if you spend a lot of time at the airport, Starbucks, or other places w/wireless access. The LCD screen is bright and highly visible even in relatively bright light.I have not had a single problem with the LCD screen cracking (and I have owned at least 8 iPAQ's for employees) but I have been careful to protect mine with a metal case such as the one from Innopocket.(The included case does not go too far towards protecting the iPAQ.)Some sort of protective case is vital if you plan to take your iPAQ anywhere at all because the screen is fragile and leaning up against something with it in your pocket will surely crack it if it is not protected. (I have been surprised at the scratches, dings, and warping I have done to the metal case after walking around a jobsite for an hour with my iPAQ in my pocket - but NO damage to the device itself.)One final note: I have not had very much luck at all with "travel sync/chargers" I have purchased which intend to sync and charge the device simultaneously via USB.I have gone back to syncing via infrared (which is pretty straightforward) and charging with the supplied AC charger.
1-0 out of 5 stars lcd cracked
I advise you don't buy this model. I was given one by my company. I used it briefly, then carefully placed it in it's case in my desk drawer.

One of the nice things about Windows CE devices is that manufacturers don't have to stick to a specific design. They can make large screens or small screens, add keyboards or rely solely on the touch screen for input, and basically do whatever they want. Hewlett-Packard decided to make a do-anything device when they designed the Jornada 720, and on most counts they have succeeded.Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Good memories but you can't go home again
I am on my 2nd Jornada 720; the first one I positively loved, but in the rush to upgrade (and free up some money) I sold it in 2003.
4-0 out of 5 stars Consider This Before Accepting Negative Reviews
The HP Jornada 720 (the final model of this line was the 728) is the finest, practical design mobile Handheld Computing device ever made. The Jornada rival is the NEC MobilePro 780-800 line. Both clamshell, mini-laptop looking, devices were high quality and expensive (average retail was over $1,000).
5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent little machine
I bought my Jornada 720 three years ago on ebay for a fraction of the "new" price - and I love this machine. The best thing is instant startup (unlike any laptop, which takes forever to start), and of course its size and battery life (again longer than any laptop).I added a 64MB card, and use another Compact Flash card to store and transfer large files from and to my deskotop. ActiveSync works fine too, but it is slower.

5-0 out of 5 stars nice pocket pc
This is a really good pocket pc because I can access the internet, do my homework and even type my papers for school. I would recommend you get this because it's a good study tool and a good organizer for teens.

2-0 out of 5 stars Pass on it
I purchased the RZ1715 about six months ago, and it has already worn out---battery will not take a charge, before that it became unpredictable in its behavior, with a lot of soft reboots. In contrast, my previous PDA---a Toshiba that was awesome---lasted about a year. My first PDA---an inexpensive Palm, purchased simply to see if I would use a PDA---lasted two years. The RZ1715 is so radically limited on memory that "Out of Memory" errors were a daily occurrence; I had 64MB expansion card in it, but it only recognized the card about half of the time. This PDA is simply not built to last.
5-0 out of 5 stars Good choice
I'm very saisfied with this product. It's just as I expected. No need to say more. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars What I like about my hx4705
This is my fourth Windows PDA, first 3 were from Compaq.
1-0 out of 5 stars Great spec - expensive, unreliable and no longer made
I've had one for 9 months and it's a great PDA, albeit a bit power hungry for the battery shipped. Love the screen.
2-0 out of 5 stars Potential not realized
I have had my iPAQ for almost a year and bought it because of positive reviews and the high quality of its screen. I was just told by an "HP repair status specialist" that the motherboard must be replaced and there is no power to the motherboard.I only ever used it to read e-books, run a program called ePocrates - a medication database, play solitaire, and keep up with addresses and phone numbers. I could never get the wireless capability to work.It was reliable for my limited use for about six months and then began it's slow decline.I have updated it, kept "patches" current, and spent about 5 hours of my time with various online and telephone support personnel. I really miss my old Clie.My Dell Axim is also better than the HP. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Amazing
The Compaq iPAQ 3765 is an amazing PDA. Well, it's not really a PDA, it's an actual Pocket PC. You have to see it to believe it. It's got Pocket PC 2002, and it's awesome. It's got Microsoft Pocket Word, Pocket Excel, and basically Pocket outlook just spread into mini programs. If you don't want to sit at your computer and read your emails cause your in a rush, just sync your computer with your pocket pc and your ENTIRE inbox will be synced to your iPAQ. I basically created my iPAQ into a super iPAQ. I got the keyboard(which is fantastic), the dual slot flash card expansion pack, a 256 meg flash card, and a MGM flash card reader. A Palm pilot is NOTHING compared to what this thing can do. THey have so many application for this pocket pc. You can play your MP3's on windows media player, watch movies or clips on PocketTV(Download the software), Play games such as the Famous Age of Empires(INCREDIBLE) Rayman, Packman and many more. Print with it, play multiplayer games, make cartoons on PocketFlipbook(Download) surf the net(Need wireless), and more. Plus they now have mad an espansion card so you can get PHONE SERVICE on it. This is one of the greatest Technological creations ever.

i paid $120 on other sites the same thing was going $499

4-0 out of 5 stars A high school junior
It helped me tremendously when doing my school work, This is because I could type notes on it (with an ipaq compatible keyboard, not included) without using a BULKY and indiscreet laptop, and easily EDIT my notes (sooo awesome and better than using the old fashioned wire-bound paper notebooks) when I transfer the notes to my computer. Highly recommended for students. BUT, the aspects of it that helped me in school are ones that you could find in almost any PDA retailing about $150 and up (due to "DocumentsToGo" and "4.0 student" software. Both are very necessary for students). You see, I had a Sony Clie SJ20 before I upgraded to this, and I realized that both did the same in terms of school work. Read more

For many, Compaq's iPAQs were the pick of the first round of Pocket PC releases. Now that Microsoft has released a new version of its Pocket PC operating system (Pocket PC 2002), the company's previous hardware partners have all updated their products and some new players have joined in. The net result is greater competition--so how does Compaq fare?Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Good unit, but poor battery, and no backup battery..
A nice upgrade to the 1550 Aero PDA, but the battery has very short life, and the unit has no internal memory save battery - so it loses *everything* if the battery runs dowmn.
1-0 out of 5 stars Dissapointing
I bought this product January last year and just throw it to the garbage bin yesterday.
5-0 out of 5 stars Palm is but a distant memory
After about 6 months of having a refurbished Handspring Treo 90 (check out that review of mine too) I decided to try something new. I desperately wanted to an iPAQ which has windows built into it. How cool can you get by practically having a computer built right into your hands? Most of the ones that had just come out were much too expensive, and the newest one was a cell phone which didn't get too good of reviews on Amazon, not to mention, I already have a cell phone. Then I saw the Compaq iPAQ 3835, which immediately kicked my PDA lust up a notch.

4-0 out of 5 stars Excellent!
I've had this little bugger for almost a full week now, and I must say, I think it was the best investment I've made concerning tools for my career (freelance writing). The Pocket version of Word is the handiest thing for an English Major on the run.I can work on whatever writing projects I have going, whenever or wherever I have the chance, and it is fully compatible with my Win XP desktop at home. And with it's organizer capabilities, it certainly eliminated a TON of the clutter in my bookbag/purse.(Before, I was carrying a writing notebook, a planner, post-it-notes for the planner, etc etc--now the h1945 has replaced darn near all of it!)
4-0 out of 5 stars very durable, good value
i have had one of these bad boys for 3 years, i have hard reset it twice and have had no problems with the screen breaking(i dont drop stuff that cost $300[at the time] so there is no problem)
5-0 out of 5 stars Screens only crack because of STUPID USERS who dont know how to take care of the product, and DROP THEM.
What else will happen to an LCD screen if it is dropped? IT WILL CRACK - Plain and simple. Be careful, and dont drop your PDA's! ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars perfect travel companion
I bought one of these about six or seven months ago and liked it so well right away that I bought one for my partner a few months later. We literally live on the road at present and our iPAQs are the most essential item of all. They hold our library of ebooks, our family photo album, our music, writing, check our email, voice recorder, we keep track of dates, appointments, plane and bus reservations and a million other things. They really do it all and the wi fi capability is terrific. I covered the revolution in Nepal on my iPAQ when it was impossible to get anywhere to use the internet. I'd need a suitcase full of stuff and equipment to replace it!
5-0 out of 5 stars Better than every Palm
This is the third PDA I've owned and couldn't be happier with my choice. My first one was a Zire 73. Never coldnt manage it. SEcond one was an IPAQ 2410. Supreme. but a needed more memory and faster processor
5-0 out of 5 stars Stellar Performance Outweighs Annoying Glitches
The hp hx2755 iPaq PocketPC is one sweet little machine. It is everything I hoped for and the biometric security features are fantastic.

5-0 out of 5 stars dependable PDA
I have had it for two years and it has never let me down. Getting ready to add a wifi SD card to it.

4-0 out of 5 stars Excellent
I have this pda for about 6 months now and i love it. I had a sony clie before this which went dead on me so i was in the market searching for another pda. The sole reason i went for pocket pc rather than palm os was the wifi capability (Now i think palm os also offers wifi?) e805 has built in wifi but is more expensive than this one and is heavier also (bought this one cause its cheaper than 805) so what i did was bought sd wifi card and voila! i m online. This unit is thin, light and beautiful. You can easily carry it in your shirt pocket and wont be bothered by its weight or size. Screen is bright enough, no problems there. The only reason i have given it 4 rather than 5 stars is cause sometimes it would hang on me and i would have to reset it. Now i dont know if its all pocket pc which do this or is it some software glitch , so i thought would take the rating down a bit. All in all its a good one and is recommended. I wanted a well lit bright screen for my pda which this one has.

5-0 out of 5 stars Excelent pocket pc for the money
This is a very fast ppc. Every thing is fantastic, the color of the unit, the resolution.

5-0 out of 5 stars Best of both worlds
This a the ultimate business machine. If you are a mobile warrior, who means business (without compromises), buy this machine yesterday.
4-0 out of 5 stars Nec Mobile Pro 900
Ok to all of you looking at an alternative to pocket pc and laptops then this device will be a welcome addition and a change of some sorts. I've owned a Jornada 720, 728 and a 547 which is a pocket pc. I honestly prefer handheld to the pocket pc because it encompasses everything into one unit with minimal lugging around of accessories and gadgets. When a unit can accommodate compact flash, secure digital and has a built in modem and PCMCIA slots then u have an all in one solution. These particular styles are more geared to the mobile professional and the frequent traveler. I'm considering buying this one and selling all of my old handhelds and pocket pc's because of nothing else technology. The only manufacturer left in the game is NEC and this unit has a 400 MHz Xscale processor (the same as in the high end pocket pc's) and has 64meg of ram and rom. The thing that people are going to say negatively about this machine is the screen. That's not NEC's fault. Until Microsoft gets off its lazy unsupportive billion dollar butt and offers a service pack to the hpc2000 OS then it will be hard to foresee change. I can stand being at the mercy of software developers. Hardware has always been ahead of software throughout the inception of technology. The current Handheld OS is 4 years old and wont support higher resolutions and color depths. However this unit does have external capabilities that allow it to be displayed at 800x600 which is acceptable for power point presentations and the like. Everyone that is a Handheld owner should write and send email to Microsoft to force a service pack upgrade because these units are more than capable of providing years of good hard use and its a shame that a new warranted unit like the NEC is hampered only by the software and not technology. It's a shame as well that HP got out of the market because their Jornadas were second to none. Anyway I'm a dreamer and I do foresee an upgrade to the OS and this NEC unit does have a ton of potential and a myriad of uses. Don't buy it expecting it to compete with a pocket pc in terms of the screen and performance due to the fact it uses passive active matrix screen versus the TFT screens on ppc's and the OS isn't optimized for the Xscale processor but nonetheless nothing else fills the void and hits the spot like the mobile pro900.

5-0 out of 5 stars I found the answer!! The in-between-machine!!
I love this-- I hated carrying around a heavy laptop-- and I did not want to shell out the crazy amount of $$$ for a super light one-- because only the lightest would have been useful to me-- This is the answer-- Instant on and instantly into documents and off to work-- I've only had it a short time but its already proved incredibly useful, I've given up my notebook(actual paper spiral) that I used to haul around to meetings and though I was hesitant to give up my calendar I decided to pitch it within a few days!!!Read more

2-0 out of 5 stars not an mp3 player
if you want an mp3 player buy an ipod. it makes me sick.

1-0 out of 5 stars Do Not Buy Toshiba Products
First off, the 755e PDA is very fragile and resets constantly and was poorly engineered. When it works, it is very nice. However, the buttons are easiy hit, so no matter how you carry it, the unit comes on and drains the battery.I sent mine back to Toshiba under warranty for repair, because the touchscreen went out, the serial number on back was worn off because the unit label wears off after a couple of months use.I enclosed the original serial number label from the box with a letter explaining the malfunction. Toshiba sent me a replacement unit, then later they charged my credit card for $499 (price of a new one at the time) and sent my old one back, because they said it did not have a serial number. The tech support person I was dealing with originally would never return my call, nor did the support manager.I thus, gave up since it would cost more to sue them than I lost.In the end, I ended up with a refurb unit for the price of a new one, that also failed after 1 year of use. Therefore, in my opinion, Toshiba's warranty is worthless and the unit will likely not last more than a year or two before it has major issues. You can take the risk if you want to, but I will never buy another Toshiba product of any kind as long as I live. They burned me once, but never again.

4-0 out of 5 stars Very Satisfied... Some small problems
I've had my e755 for over two years now and have been satisfied with its performance.
