2-0 out of 5 stars shoddy
I suppose this might be a cool device if it actually functioned properly.Almost from the second I unwrapped it there were problems - it freezes every other day.I don't know how much data I've lost cumulatively.I don't even want a replacement, I want a different model.I'll even take a "lesser" model. If Palm support fails me (which I hear is likely) I'm going back to handspring.

5-0 out of 5 stars WHAT'S A LAPTOP?
As a New York Criminal and Divorce attorney, I swear the 1-705 is1-0 out of 5 stars Inferior
I received the i705 for Christmas.I have had nothing but trouble with the product. The Infrared radio didn't work.I tried for several weeks! The absolute worst part , however, was Palm's customer service. If you think they are out there to help you, you are wrong. They agreed (after several phone calls), to replace the unit. This was a new unit that they finally agreed to replace. After reading the fine print, I realized they were going to send me a reconditioned unit, and by now, there are better products on the market. Curiously enough, the unit still hasn't arrived. Additionally, you need to sign up for their service, which is pricey.IfI have to have a reconditoned unit, I may as well have the top of the line reconditioned PDA.The price on this unit has come down considerably, I guess there is a reason.Oh, and the customer service department may be suffering from post Christmas stress, as they were a bit touchy, to say the least. ... 2-0 out of 5 stars Battery continually loses it's mind
I bought this unit about 2 years ago and love the features it has. Unfortunately some days the battery and the unit works fine, the next day it loses the entire battery and the unit is completely dead with no data left. Basically on good days the unit uses about 10% battery life, on bad days the entire battery will go all at once.
1-0 out of 5 stars Total Waste of Money
I bought the e330 and about 25 days later, the unit refused to turn on. The battery had been FULLY charged. I had noticed the unit started to shutdown by itself a few days prior. Eventually it just refused to turn on. I had babied the e330 since day one and tried to give PDAs a chance, but I went back to a notepad and pen. It only cost me $1 max.
1-0 out of 5 stars The worst mistake I've ever made
I purchased my pocket PC on April 2003.This is so far the worst mistake I've ever made, it crashes constantly and it looses all the information stored in file at all times. The battery life is approximately close to garbage and their customer service is terrible, far from efficient, inpolite, and quite lazy.Had I known this product was a piece of garbage, I would have never, never bought it.In fact, I don't think I will ever purchase a Toshiba product EVER AGAIN. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Cheap, easy... Multi-purpose wonder
This PDA is great. The small size allows it to fit in my pocket where I can play music off a storage card while I am biking. The processor is adequate enough for relatively intense games. The battery life is pretty long, I can listen to music for hours (beware of backlight, though.)It has everything you'll need: all apps in pocket windows (also Resco Explorer), recorder, speaker, bright screen, infrared...It doesn't have wireless or bluetooth though. The only annoyances are an audio jack that does not comply with the standard audio plug, you have to carry a mini-converter.Also the charger is inconvenient; there's no dock, and it doesn't fit well into the PDA.
4-0 out of 5 stars I've also had mine for about 2 years...
I have had very few problems with my 1935.It needs the occasional soft reset, but that may be attributed to the PIM and Today plug-in I downloaded. The screen on mine has stayed in great shape, and I let my 4 year old "draw" in the notes area!!(And, yes, she has dropped it without the screen shattering!)Would recommend to anyone who needs a great organizer without wireless capability.

4-0 out of 5 stars I've been using mine for a couple of years now
No problems with it. I've dropped it several times, with and without its case on, and nothing has broken. I use it every day, and didn't use a screen protector for about 8 months.

Editorial Review

The Compaq iPAQ 3135 is one of the most stylish Pocket PCs on the market. Unlike its highly sought-after sibling, the iPAQ 3635, this model has gone largely unnoticed, despite the fact that the iPAQ 3135 has one distinct advantage: longer battery life. This is because it comes with a 15-grayscale display that, while not as sexy as the full-color screen of the 3635, is eminently usable. Read more

  • 16 MB RAM and 16 MB Flash ROM

5-0 out of 5 stars USE IT, LOVE IT
I have had my Pocket PC for quite some time now, and I love the convenience that it offers.
3-0 out of 5 stars hard to read the screen
This is a good value, but the screen is very difficult to read in less than perfect lighting conditions.Under bright flourescent lights in the office, it is fine. The rest of the time, though, I have a heck of a time with it. The internal memory also isn't really big enough to store MP3s.I decided to go back to paper and pen.

4-0 out of 5 stars Why I still like this PDA, continued
I found out the way to copy photos from my CompactFlash card onto the iPAQ. It's not hard but more complex than necessary. I also found out how to send the iPAQ in to have its screen replaced. A hassle. Its screen and/or stylus should work together so they don't produce scratches in the first place. ... Read more

2-0 out of 5 stars Be Careful
I have a similar unit and for the most part it works OK.However, HP decided to use only a SD expansion slot.Very few accessories go into this slot. Most accessories require a larger CF slot which some of the competition offer on their units. For HP you must by a CF slot accessory + the GPS unit or camera, etc.

2-0 out of 5 stars You'll keep on paying.
In my experience, the problem with Ipaq has been reliability. I bought top-of-the-line at a cost which should have provided me equipment that would work. First the little spring that holds the stylus in place gave out. HP/Compaq did cover this by stretching the warranty, so the only cost to me was the hassle and a couple of replacement styluses at $5 a pop. Then the battery died, after I'd had the unit for about 18 months. What was really distressing was the refusal on the part of the service "support" people to recognize this as any sort of problem -- they were so busy trying to think of creative explanations involving things I might have done wrong that nobody would acknowledge that if customers who buy an Ipaq have to budget $50.00 a year for battery replacement that represents a quality control issue at the old Ipaq factory. Do what my wife did -- order a Dell and include a back-up battery in the package.

5-0 out of 5 stars Lasted Four Years - I weep for Palm
I am filled with feelings of anger and despair as I see the once great Palm Corporation in its death throes.I bought my first Handspring Visor Deluxe in early 2001 for $250 -- had it stolen 11 months later -- and bought another refurbished one from Handspring in Feb 2002 for just $100.The device gave me outstanding service until it died just a few days after its 4th (re)birthday.A refurbished device lasting 4 years!Since yesterday I have been looking for a replacement, inexpensive PalmOS handheld.Unfortunatlely, there is only PalmOne (or whatever they are called now) corporation left (having swallowed Handspring) and the PalmOS has been sold to a Japanese company. The reviews for Palm's current products -- nearly all from longtime loyal Palm-product users -- nearly uniformly slam the products.

5-0 out of 5 stars Can't get it back from my wife
I bought the Clio C-1000 about 3 years ago and have yet to see a product of the same form and functionality as either model.I bought it to replace a dearly loved Newton 2100, and fell in love with it from the moment I opened the box. With a battery life of 8-10 hours and a key board, you can't beat the verisility of the machine.Once I purchased my Handspring Visor, my wife took the opertunity to start using the Clio for her job, and I yet to get it back from her.I am currentlt contemplating replacing my outdated laptop with a new C-1050 model. You can't beat this machine for it features, use of use, compatibility of file formats and the "WOW! what's that!?" factor when people see you using it.The only thing that would make these units better would be the addition of Pocket PC2002 (or even Linix).2-0 out of 5 stars Maybe next time ...
The Clio was a good idea, but doesn't meet expectations. The passive matrix screen is difficult to read. The keyboard is small and curved making touch-typing difficult. The unit itself is a bit heavy and ackward to lug around compared to some of the latest (and smallest laptops). With a max resolution of 800x600, images and video look cheap. There are NO output ports on the unit itself - you have to hard-link to a computer even to print! No VGA-out for use with a projector. Not even a PS-2 or USB port! The handwriting recognizer works about 3/4 of the time. That is, in a page of handwritten notes, you'll have to manually correct about 1/4 of the page. It does slightly better on single words or sentences. My recommendation: Take the [amt] that you'd spend on the Clio and add to it the [amt] you'd spend on a Pocket PC and buy a decent laptop.

5-0 out of 5 stars Fabulous
The Clio is working great for me.I've been using it for about two weeks so far. First of all, it looks very small (and is light) when closed, but the 9.4" screen is great, wwaaaayy better than the Jornada's tiny screen. The folding arms are awesome and Tablet mode is cool too. The handwriting recognition actually works, it recognized most of my handwriting right away and I've further fine tuned it's settings since so it's even better. Recognizes cursive very well too. The C-1050 is twice as fast as the C-1000 and Mobilon Tri-Pad (by Sharp). There's virtually no delay in opening things. No booting up either, since it runs on WinCE and just suspends when you're done using it. Battery life is excellent! It isn't ten hours, but at least 6 on medium brightness & contrast. Synchronization worked without problems using the included software. It's definitely 10 times better than a Palm and in my opinion better than a laptop unless you need to be doing graphics or using Windows programs which don't come on CE as well. I highly recommend it. ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars Good for Beginners but watch out....
I have had my Neo for about 6 months now and use it several times an hour as I am a therapist trying to keep up with appointments and phone numbers all day in and out of the office. This thing had become like my right hand until last week when the batteries went dead. As before, I fetched some new batteries, put them in the back, closed the compartment, but...no power. Tried several other sets of batteries, still no power. My heart sank, considering all my appointments for the day (not to mention the month and previous few months) were in there and I had no idea what I was supposed to be doing that afternoon. After several attempts, the Neo powered back on but guess what? ALL MY INFORMATION WAS ERASED. Thankfully, I had hotsynched about 2 weeks before this event but not often enough to retrieve any information for the last two weeks or the following month. I have spent a solid week recompiling my appointments and phone numbers but, even so, all the phone numbers have my fax number in parenthesis before the actual number. I don't understand that, but whatever, it was easy to erase all that. Lesson learned here: if you purchase one of these, hotsynch daily and be careful of technical glitches in the programming. Myself, I am returning this and shopping for a color PDA NOT made by Handspring.

5-0 out of 5 stars rock solid handheld
I have owned my handspring visor neo for more than a year and a half now.The machine is extremely reliable. It has never crashed on me, despite falling on the floor multiple times. The machine has never had any problems hot synching with the internet or any problems beaming with other handhelds.I use it daily as a medicine intern and rely heavily on epocrates and 5 minute clinical consult programs. The software is outstanding--very detailed and easy to use and continually updated and improving. Finally, the machine is reasonably priced when compared with other devices of similar utility.I have friends who paid more and received defective devices, and I feel lucky to have bought this one.5-0 out of 5 stars Best buy for a beginner
Basicly, what I want from a PDA include organization functions, being compatible with the majority of softwares available and the potential to expend the memory. With a resonable price, handspring Visor Neo gives me all! With plenty of Palm OS freeware, easy and quick synchronization, my PDA just become more and more valuable! And boy, they have the best customer support team in the world! ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars WITHOUT UPGRADE
A few days ago I asked HP the upgrade to Pocket Windows 2003 for my Jornada 565, bought at Amazon on May 30, 2002. They answered they are not planning to give any upgrade to Jornadas because Compaq IPacs are now the mainstream line of pocket PCs from HP. A year after the purchase I have an obsolete tool and I think this is very unfair for HP customers.

1-0 out of 5 stars WITHOUT UPGRADE
Hewlett-Packard support have just tell me that they will not upgrade any Jornada to Pocket PC 2003 operating system, and they will only support Compaq I-Pac as HP I-Pac mainstream Pocket PCs. I bought in Amazon a Jornada 565 in May 2002, and now I have an obsolete tool. I think this is very unfair. I have invested ... in the Jornada 565 and Hewlett-Packard forgets his customers to only give upgrades to Compaq customers. If you are thinking about buying an HP product, think twice: maybe they are thinking to merge with anybody else and live you without support.

3-0 out of 5 stars King of the PDA
Ever since I bought my 565 I have loved it. It has been my trusted companion. It also makes a supperior MP3 Player, as it syncs well with Windows Media Player on my PC. It also is the perfect medium to write letters (Pocket Word), Manage your money and investment (MS Money for PPC), The best universal remote(TV Remote), and a better note taker that a giant Tablet PC. And it has a wonderfull hard cover to protect the screen. Despite loving it so much, It is impossable to find parts for it in Canada. Since it is discontinued you can not get a replacement stylus, or assesories. And I've had to get the screen replaced once, and the second time is comming soon. And the dust is impossable to get out. ... Read more
