1-0 out of 5 stars Piece of junk at a very high price
My company paid for one of these units for me.I hadn't really used PDAs before but knew of some friends who used them and liked them.
5-0 out of 5 stars AMAZING!
Okay now, here's the background:
2-0 out of 5 stars HP Ipaq 5555
I have owned the Ipaq 5555 for a year.My review is far from positive. The unit has glitzy features but many disappointments.Battery life is not long enough for practical professional use. Handwriting recognition is about 90% at best and usually less. The unit has a slippery exterior that should be kept in a case; a poor engineering design , unless they want one to drop it.

2-0 out of 5 stars Ebook reader only--very crashy
I bought this device to read ebooks, and it does ok for a low price (like under $100). I use Word, Tiny Ebook Reader, MS Reader and Mobipocket. They all work, within limits.
3-0 out of 5 stars Nice but no backup battery
This is the fourth PDA I've owned, and while it has a lot to offer, you really need to ask yourself if the small size is worth the tradeoff of a ridiculously expensive main battery and no backup battery.I was used to getting at least a week on a charge (which I'm sure seems short to the Palm folks), but for this a long weekend of NON_USE can be enough to drain the battery. And that's not trivial, since there's no backup battery.Never again will I buy a PDA without a backup battery.

5-0 out of 5 stars GreatPDA, Battery lasts 11 hours when new.
Hi, I felt the need to review this product after reading some recent, poor reviews. If you are having battery problems, you may have gotten a worn-down or a bad battery. I have had the e310 for over 2.5 years now.The battery lasted all this time (lasts for 11 hours of continuous use), and only in the past 2 months it is starting to show signs of wear (only seems to last 7 hours, discharges more quickly, will only charge to 80% until I replug it in and turn the power on with backlight off, then it does charge to 100%).I am planning to do the brave thing and replace it myself for $30 (found LAB503759C Toshiba E310 PDA battery at Laptops for less.com)

3-0 out of 5 stars Good for Beginners but watch out....
I have had my Neo for about 6 months now and use it several times an hour as I am a therapist trying to keep up with appointments and phone numbers all day in and out of the office. This thing had become like my right hand until last week when the batteries went dead. As before, I fetched some new batteries, put them in the back, closed the compartment, but...no power. Tried several other sets of batteries, still no power. My heart sank, considering all my appointments for the day (not to mention the month and previous few months) were in there and I had no idea what I was supposed to be doing that afternoon. After several attempts, the Neo powered back on but guess what? ALL MY INFORMATION WAS ERASED. Thankfully, I had hotsynched about 2 weeks before this event but not often enough to retrieve any information for the last two weeks or the following month. I have spent a solid week recompiling my appointments and phone numbers but, even so, all the phone numbers have my fax number in parenthesis before the actual number. I don't understand that, but whatever, it was easy to erase all that. Lesson learned here: if you purchase one of these, hotsynch daily and be careful of technical glitches in the programming. Myself, I am returning this and shopping for a color PDA NOT made by Handspring.

5-0 out of 5 stars rock solid handheld
I have owned my handspring visor neo for more than a year and a half now.The machine is extremely reliable. It has never crashed on me, despite falling on the floor multiple times. The machine has never had any problems hot synching with the internet or any problems beaming with other handhelds.I use it daily as a medicine intern and rely heavily on epocrates and 5 minute clinical consult programs. The software is outstanding--very detailed and easy to use and continually updated and improving. Finally, the machine is reasonably priced when compared with other devices of similar utility.I have friends who paid more and received defective devices, and I feel lucky to have bought this one.5-0 out of 5 stars Best buy for a beginner
Basicly, what I want from a PDA include organization functions, being compatible with the majority of softwares available and the potential to expend the memory. With a resonable price, handspring Visor Neo gives me all! With plenty of Palm OS freeware, easy and quick synchronization, my PDA just become more and more valuable! And boy, they have the best customer support team in the world! ... Read more

I have come into a Psion 5mx as a freebie. I am trying to set it up and am having a problem finding out how to set the communication link. The manual says to go to "Tools". Try as I may I cannot find this section to access the remote link. Any Help out there
5-0 out of 5 stars Psion Rules
The only thing that Psion did wrong was to start selling there new system with Windows CE. I have worked in the PDA industry have road tested every PDA there is to have and I still say that nothing touches or comes close to the Psion. Buy one you won't regret it. I have owned a Psion 3a 3c 5 and 5mx and there still far superior to anything else.

5-0 out of 5 stars excellent !
I have to say, this is the most practical and user friendly PDA i've ever had !My first PDA was Palm based Handspring Visor, which i used extensively, but could never get the hang of grafitti or on-screen keyboard.I even bought a keyboard for it, but after a while it became a nuisance to lug it around.I upgraded to colour Sony Clie PEG-TG50, with built-in keyboard, at the expense of the screen size.It worked fine, until i upgraded to Win XP and then i couldn't sync it anymore.

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent product.Better than most of Pocket PCs
I have been using this handheld PC for over two years. HP invented a wonderful product! It handles my daily PIM, note-taking and even PowerPoint presentation (with VGA-out card). It can also do wireless. Another big advantage is its long battery life. The high-capacity battery has tested well over 12 hours. I was sad why most manufacturers discontinued their Handheld PC product line (except NEC-MobilePro 900, DoCoMo Sigmarion III) and embraced Pocket PC (has size advantage but without keyboard). The pre-installed Internet Explorer is kind of outdated so I cannot get access to some websites (ironically, Microsoft's own hotmail.com!!). No doubt, I will continue using this handheld PC! Highly recommended!

4-0 out of 5 stars From the iPaq to the Jornada 690
Well, having used palm and a Casio EM-500 and then the iPaq 3760, I have to say that the Jornada 690 fits my needs the best of them all.The only drawback to the unit is the size and weight. The speed is slower than a PPC but you get a much clearer screen, an interface that is exactly like your desktop windows and lots of built in stuff. The other nice thing about this unit is the built in keyboard.Nice to take to meetings and type your notes and then sync back at your desk later.Overall if you want to get away from the handwriting recognition, this is definitely the way to go.Just remember, it is heavier and bigger.Good luck!

5-0 out of 5 stars Absolutely Great
I have had the HP Jornada 690 for several months now. I havent seen any regrets for my purchase. I bought it because I like the idea of having a keyboard and i dont like the look of the Palm Pilots. This unit is a bit heavier than its previous versions, however you get so much more for your $. Its ability to connect to the internet and SYNC with your computer are Headache free to say the least. I previously owned a Compaq handheld, I have since found it a new home. I would recomend this unit to anyone interested in purchasing a Handheld PC. It is worth every bit of the money you spend on it. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars best pda yet!
When i was going to buy this i was somewhat convinised not to buy it because of the other reviews but i found out it was the best pda yet. now im a family doctor so i need a pda in my office because well i need it. wether it being a slow day and i want to play a couple cards games or needing to find the right answer this helps alot!insteand of serching through my head or my files i just use this. it just makes life easyer. and this is also a good pda for kids.my son can play on it for hours and not get board. and the viewsonic help line is great. when i first got it the usb cradle was a little lose and it took alot longer to charge thean it should so i called them up and i had a person to talk to. they said from time to time this happens and they sent me out a new cradle and a free update. how nice... iv had it for about 9months and not a problem with it yet.it has a nice screen good music sound and a good connection to the internet. im still surpised i got it for just 100 bucks. it could have easly been 3 or 4 hundred. now if your looking for a good and cheap pda i would deffently go with the v35.

1-0 out of 5 stars Poor
I've been trying to keep this ViewSonic running ever since my son gave it to me as a gift.It rarely maintained a charge, was difficult to sync, and needed constant monitoring when not in the charger. Now I'm trying to find a replacement battery and there's little help.Save your ching.

1-0 out of 5 stars Do not buy from this seller
This was a $150 dollar item that never arrived. I contacted the seller 3 times without a reply. Also I am not the only one...check the history.Do not buy from this seller! I have waited over a month and I now have to go through a 2 week refund process....

5-0 out of 5 stars A very handy unit for both personal and professional use
The Compaq iPAQ H3660 is a high-end palmtop device for both personal and professional applications. With its integrated comfportably sized memory of 64MB it stands out above many of its competitors (newer models available with even more memory) and can also be easily expanded using appropriate memory cards.5-0 out of 5 stars Dont listen to other ppls reviews.
This is a great product.DUST DOES NOT ENTER THE SCREEN. People saying that is incorrect. What was behind the screen had nothing to do with dust.Compaq had a problem with a company in Taiwan that installs the screen.Do to poor work tiny glass fragments were left behind. That is what the so called "dust" is.This problem has been fixed with all the new iPaqs.Amazon.com only sells new ones, their will NOT be a problem with the screen. Microsoft activesync has a problem when other usb devices are in the computer.I found Microsoft ridiculous when you call user support.Your best bet is to call compaq where they will give a solution that works perfectly. There is a lot of softweare for the ipaq out, and much more coming. For gamers, go to PocketGamer.org for all the gaming news. You can get great emulators to play all the old Nintendo and SuperNintendo games.I recomend the IBM microdrive or if that is too expensive get the Viking cf card. This is by far the best Pocket PC on the line. The 3630 and the 3650 are the exact same product w/ ho differences what so all.I called Compaq to confirm this. The only difference w/ the new compaq 3635 is the cf card that comes w/ it.The new one costs 100 dollars more, where you can buy a cf expansion pack for 35 dollars.I recomend getting the 3635 or 3650. ... 1-0 out of 5 stars Going...Going...Gone!
I bought my Sony Cli PEG-T615C/U of eBay for $160.00 CAD in December of 2003.It was the best purchase of my life.I used it for taking notes in class and the battery life was good enough for me to use at school and charge every night.I would play games on public transport to school and home and would act as my alarm clock each night.Ultimately, the best thing ever.In mid-June of 2004, all of a sudden, my Cli refused to charge. The green cradle light failed to light, as did the orange unit light. It wouldn't HotSync either.I put it on the shelf and couldn't use it anymore. In August of 2004, I took it to Sony Repair Service. They said that it would cost $175 CAD to repair, but before they could repair it, they would have to look at it which costs $50 CAD.Astonished at the response of Sony Canada, I left. Why has Sony been going downhill? They used to be so much better than they are now. They even discontinued the Cli because it was breaking so much under warranty, that they were losing money.Sony is about money now instead of quality. After my encounter with the Repair Center, I figured that I had nothing to lose, and opened the Cli up.Nothing that I could find.I recommend never to buy this product, unless you know the people that you buy it from very well.

2-0 out of 5 stars Sorry I bought it.
My first experience with a PDA was with one of the old monochrome Palms. The advantage to that device was that you could use the thing every day and the batteries would last for maybe 6 to 8 weeks.1-0 out of 5 stars FAILED AFTER ONE YEAR, so did my brothers!

I purchased the Palm IIIX because I thought that it had an open expansion slot for addition of memory upgrade cards.I wasn't able to locate the expansion slot for additional memory, so, I contacted Palm. The customer representative stated that it is only upgradeable as far as the operating system is concerned. You aren't able to use an additional memory card for this handheld.

5-0 out of 5 stars Toshiba out front
Toshiba are the industry leader. This machine is fast, the screen is great, and the memory is completely serviceable. It gets an enum failure error which requires a soft restart from time to time, but it is fully functional, top-of-the-line.I will be upgrading to the 805.

4-0 out of 5 stars Seems to be good
As my first PDA I've not had too many problems with it. It does seem to have an issue of needing to be "reset" every few days (not a hard reset, just hitting the reset toggle with the pointer device) otherwise some stuff does seem to stop "functioning" particularly the wireless utilities (in my experience). However this appears to be a problem with Pocket PC 2003 rather than Toshiba themselves.

1-0 out of 5 stars Don't waste your money on this device
This PDA seems like a good deal, but its not. Unless you buy the extended warranty and you don't mind dealing with the many quirks of this pockpet pc, do not get it. First, the WiFi was difficult to use and I could connect, even when only 8 feet away from the router.Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars So cool...
I ordered the h1940 on Amazon with free shipping and it arrived the next day! (The website said it will take 5-9 business days...). I've had it for 3 weeks now, and I must say this is quite a piece. I shopped around in stores, and this was the smallest handheld device on the market. It works great with my desktop PC, and keeps me very organized. Now that I'm so organized, I don't know what to do with all this free time I discovered I have, so I'm here writing reviews...5-0 out of 5 stars Powerful Machine in a Tiny Package
Had the 1940 but, with the addition of integrated Bluetooth wireless communication and a faster processor, the h1940 is what I really needed. So much power in a machine that weighs just 4.37 ounces and is very small (4.46 x 2.75 x 0.5 in). Also like the upgrade to Microsoft Windows Pocket PC 2003 Professional that is included. ... 2-0 out of 5 stars Great product, horrible company.
I am divided over this thing called "Sony".
5-0 out of 5 stars Provided faithful service for over 2 years now!
This is a super PDA.I've been using mine now for over 2 years and have had no problems whatsoever.I want to upgrade to a color version with more memory now, but I'm afraid I won't find one that is as reliable and robust as this Clie.

5-0 out of 5 stars Super Little PDA - fits perfect in my pocket
This is a great little PDA - the nice thing is that it's very slim and the battery lasts forever. The screen is very easy to view and I love the backlit greenish-effect - it makes it so easy to read in limited light situations.

4-0 out of 5 stars 3 years with my Prisim
I have had my Prisim for 3 years now, The hard shell cover has allowed me to carry, (and sit on )it for all of the 3 years. The 8 meg is plenty for normal use.
5-0 out of 5 stars Brilliant value for PDAphone (Visor Prism+Phone)
I've been using Visor Prism + Phone for about 2 months now, I bought it from a local store which suprisingly still had some stocks and guaranteed the item for 1 year.5-0 out of 5 stars I Miss my Visor Prism!!
I replaced my Prism with a Palm M515 and I miss my Visor!! If I knew then how difficult it would be to replace I would have purchased several more, kept a nice inventory andand made a profit on the rest.Handspring made a VERY nice color PDA.....I hope PalmOne stays with it... ... Read more

Editorial Review

Sony's Clié N760C combines the best of a Palm OS handheld computer and an MP3 player. Bulkier than your average audio player, it still manages to be sleek enough that you'd consider taking it out just for music-listening purposes. And you'll have all your typical Palm applications at the tip of your stylus, including your address book, to-do list, and e-mail.Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Sony Clie PEG-N760C
Sony's Clie PEG-N760C is (or was) a winner. It is well made, easy to use, an met all my expectations. The MP3 player is outstanding in musical quality. Sony made a big mistake in dropping this item from their product line. The camera works well, but suffers some from low image quality. This is probably a software issue - hopefully Sony will rewrite the camera software.

2-0 out of 5 stars don't let the battery run down...
or it will erase everything on it. and when you try to restore it from the memory stick backup, the datebook and phone numbers are restored but all the third party applications need to be reinstalled from scratch. in the 21st century with cheap static RAM (compact flash, smart media, memory stick!) this is inexcusable. oh, and another thing, you can't run an application from the memory stick. and the mp3 player doesn't read ID3 tags. overall this thin is a bunch of hype. i wish these handheld companies would take care of the basics before sticking on a digital camera or some other useless feature. still the palm platform is not as mature as my 10(!) year old Apple Newton...

4-0 out of 5 stars Almost perfect
I love this PDA. It's quite a deal if you can get it less than $200. The high resolution color screen is perhaps the biggest selling point. Only the newest PDAs on the market, like the Palm Tungsten, can compare to it, and this model is 2 yrs older than them.Read more
