5-0 out of 5 stars Best of both worlds
This a the ultimate business machine. If you are a mobile warrior, who means business (without compromises), buy this machine yesterday.
4-0 out of 5 stars Nec Mobile Pro 900
Ok to all of you looking at an alternative to pocket pc and laptops then this device will be a welcome addition and a change of some sorts. I've owned a Jornada 720, 728 and a 547 which is a pocket pc. I honestly prefer handheld to the pocket pc because it encompasses everything into one unit with minimal lugging around of accessories and gadgets. When a unit can accommodate compact flash, secure digital and has a built in modem and PCMCIA slots then u have an all in one solution. These particular styles are more geared to the mobile professional and the frequent traveler. I'm considering buying this one and selling all of my old handhelds and pocket pc's because of nothing else technology. The only manufacturer left in the game is NEC and this unit has a 400 MHz Xscale processor (the same as in the high end pocket pc's) and has 64meg of ram and rom. The thing that people are going to say negatively about this machine is the screen. That's not NEC's fault. Until Microsoft gets off its lazy unsupportive billion dollar butt and offers a service pack to the hpc2000 OS then it will be hard to foresee change. I can stand being at the mercy of software developers. Hardware has always been ahead of software throughout the inception of technology. The current Handheld OS is 4 years old and wont support higher resolutions and color depths. However this unit does have external capabilities that allow it to be displayed at 800x600 which is acceptable for power point presentations and the like. Everyone that is a Handheld owner should write and send email to Microsoft to force a service pack upgrade because these units are more than capable of providing years of good hard use and its a shame that a new warranted unit like the NEC is hampered only by the software and not technology. It's a shame as well that HP got out of the market because their Jornadas were second to none. Anyway I'm a dreamer and I do foresee an upgrade to the OS and this NEC unit does have a ton of potential and a myriad of uses. Don't buy it expecting it to compete with a pocket pc in terms of the screen and performance due to the fact it uses passive active matrix screen versus the TFT screens on ppc's and the OS isn't optimized for the Xscale processor but nonetheless nothing else fills the void and hits the spot like the mobile pro900.

5-0 out of 5 stars I found the answer!! The in-between-machine!!
I love this-- I hated carrying around a heavy laptop-- and I did not want to shell out the crazy amount of $$$ for a super light one-- because only the lightest would have been useful to me-- This is the answer-- Instant on and instantly into documents and off to work-- I've only had it a short time but its already proved incredibly useful, I've given up my notebook(actual paper spiral) that I used to haul around to meetings and though I was hesitant to give up my calendar I decided to pitch it within a few days!!!Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars dependable PDA
I have had it for two years and it has never let me down. Getting ready to add a wifi SD card to it.

4-0 out of 5 stars Excellent
I have this pda for about 6 months now and i love it. I had a sony clie before this which went dead on me so i was in the market searching for another pda. The sole reason i went for pocket pc rather than palm os was the wifi capability (Now i think palm os also offers wifi?) e805 has built in wifi but is more expensive than this one and is heavier also (bought this one cause its cheaper than 805) so what i did was bought sd wifi card and voila! i m online. This unit is thin, light and beautiful. You can easily carry it in your shirt pocket and wont be bothered by its weight or size. Screen is bright enough, no problems there. The only reason i have given it 4 rather than 5 stars is cause sometimes it would hang on me and i would have to reset it. Now i dont know if its all pocket pc which do this or is it some software glitch , so i thought would take the rating down a bit. All in all its a good one and is recommended. I wanted a well lit bright screen for my pda which this one has.

5-0 out of 5 stars Excelent pocket pc for the money
This is a very fast ppc. Every thing is fantastic, the color of the unit, the resolution.

5-0 out of 5 stars This PDA Is Excellent
I just bought this PDA and it is everything I could hope for.Sony struck a pot of gold with this one.Get a memory card (128 mb maybe) and you have enough memory for thousands of applications.I had trouble with Sonic Stage, but I am assuming I can figure it out. The camera works great. The keyboard is not good with numbers, but you can use the on screen one for that.If you have any further questions e-mail me at ryanj0@belleville.k12.wi.us

5-0 out of 5 stars Super PDA for the Price
My wife bought this for me and I love it! The previous PDAs I have owned were not nearly as high tech. I certainly could not say more about the wonderful camera features than the other reviewer. As for all the other features all I can say is they work great. I have had mine about six months now and I have used them all and I have not had any problems. I mainly use it for my DVD and CD databases and games, but all the capabilities are amazing. I also highly recommend getting the Belkin USB Sync/Charge cable. It sure beats using a Sync/Charge Cradle since it is easy to carry anywhere.

4-0 out of 5 stars Ahead of its time.....

2-0 out of 5 stars not an mp3 player
if you want an mp3 player buy an ipod. it makes me sick.

1-0 out of 5 stars Do Not Buy Toshiba Products
First off, the 755e PDA is very fragile and resets constantly and was poorly engineered. When it works, it is very nice. However, the buttons are easiy hit, so no matter how you carry it, the unit comes on and drains the battery.I sent mine back to Toshiba under warranty for repair, because the touchscreen went out, the serial number on back was worn off because the unit label wears off after a couple of months use.I enclosed the original serial number label from the box with a letter explaining the malfunction. Toshiba sent me a replacement unit, then later they charged my credit card for $499 (price of a new one at the time) and sent my old one back, because they said it did not have a serial number. The tech support person I was dealing with originally would never return my call, nor did the support manager.I thus, gave up since it would cost more to sue them than I lost.In the end, I ended up with a refurb unit for the price of a new one, that also failed after 1 year of use. Therefore, in my opinion, Toshiba's warranty is worthless and the unit will likely not last more than a year or two before it has major issues. You can take the risk if you want to, but I will never buy another Toshiba product of any kind as long as I live. They burned me once, but never again.

4-0 out of 5 stars Very Satisfied... Some small problems
I've had my e755 for over two years now and have been satisfied with its performance.

4-0 out of 5 stars Couldn't live without my Clie PEGNX60
I've enjoyed my Clie for three years and the only problem I've experienced was when it became necessary to send the unit back to Sony repair center in San Diego last month to replace the built in battery at a fixed cost of $135! Plus shipping expenses.
4-0 out of 5 stars Olddie but still goodie!
I know this PDA is now old news but I must say that I absolutely love it!I find myself on the crossroads of whether to upgrade or not and it's killing me.I started many years ago with the Palm IIIxe, then briefly moved to the Pam Vx and then I purchased the Clie NX60.As fate would have it, before I even opened up the box, my office puchased PocketPC's for everyone.I never returned my Clie and it remained stored away in a closet.

5-0 out of 5 stars Long Term All Star
I have my Sony Clie PEG SJ22 for about four years now, and it's worked perfectly and I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a good used or nearly new similar unit.
4-0 out of 5 stars Some durability issues, but still a fair device
At the time this device was new, it was ahead of the game, pricewise and technology wise. Then palm came out with the 505, and now the palm 5.0 software and sony got out of the market quickly after only about 3 years.I have had this handheld for a little over 2 years now, and it has done it's work.It does have a nice bright color display, decent for display of a picture in the photo gallary. It has the capability to run some programs from the memory stick, although I do not recommend getting a memory stick abouve 32mb becuase it takes forever to access programs on my 128mb card, often to were the handheld shuts off before I can open the program. Also, the charger for the battery tends to wear out after a couple years, so the handheld will look like it's charging, but not charge at all. My office had bought about 20 of these, and a few have had problem with Infrared beaming, and mine the on/off button does not work.Unfortunately, these were referbished models at the time, so who knows if the durability issue it the model or the referbished.I do know some people with the fancier models that have had better long term luck. Finally, this handheld has limited internal memory compaired to new models (16mb), this can be difficult to update some applications on (epocrates for one). If their is an online update, I often find myself having to manually erase some of the old files on the handheld to free up enough space for it to accept the updated program. But, for the time it came out, it was king. This item would be good for someone who wants a electronic calendar/datebook, also to carry a couple of pictures with them, but the business professional sould look towards the newer technology.

4-0 out of 5 stars No Handwriting pad
I switched over to the SJ22 after several problems with my Palm III. Palm support gave me grief on replacing it and finally it just died. Only had it 4 months.Warranty was 90 days. So I purchase this Clie.I love it.It has been dependable and and the battery life has improved with age.Hard to believe but it did. The first 6 months I had to charge often. Once I lost all data, because I didn't charge each night. I even purchased a car charger in order to use it on the go. Now It stays charged for 3 days and never gone below 50% and I rarely use the car charger.

4-0 out of 5 stars So far so good...but
I bought this refurbished and have been pretty happy with it. It is my first PDA. But I have had a couple of problems - the flimsy cover which keeps coming off...and then this mysterious backlight which everyone keeps talking about. Where is this backlight? I have not been able to find it in any manual. The only thing I know is you can adjust the contrast but that's it. Thanks!

5-0 out of 5 stars this is great!
...Anyway, I love my 415!It is tiny so easy to carry. It's got a good solid feel to it (just heavy enough to feel good but not too heavy). The resolution is awesome, the buttons are great (it is hard to turn on accidentally), the clie programs are good (clie remote is sooo cool!), and it'sgot a jog-wheel.I like my clie a lot better than my palm, plus it looks cooler (!) and is smaller than anything else I've seen.4-0 out of 5 stars Does what I need it to do
The backlighting could be better and if I had to do it again I'd probably buy a color PDA.But overall, I've been pleased with the T415.It does everything I want, it's thin and lightweight, takes a beating (can't tell you how many times I've dropped the thing), and the battery lasts FOREVER.I use it every day and I charge the battery *maybe* once a month. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Lasted Four Years - I weep for Palm
I am filled with feelings of anger and despair as I see the once great Palm Corporation in its death throes.I bought my first Handspring Visor Deluxe in early 2001 for $250 -- had it stolen 11 months later -- and bought another refurbished one from Handspring in Feb 2002 for just $100.The device gave me outstanding service until it died just a few days after its 4th (re)birthday.A refurbished device lasting 4 years!Since yesterday I have been looking for a replacement, inexpensive PalmOS handheld.Unfortunatlely, there is only PalmOne (or whatever they are called now) corporation left (having swallowed Handspring) and the PalmOS has been sold to a Japanese company. The reviews for Palm's current products -- nearly all from longtime loyal Palm-product users -- nearly uniformly slam the products.

4-0 out of 5 stars I like it...
Hey ppl
1-0 out of 5 stars Surprised
I purchased a refurbished clie PEG-SJ30 and the keyboard was not working.A month and a half later after different instructions from three different service technicians at SONY, I am still waiting for my Clie to be repaired and returned to me.I would advise you to be cautious before purchasing refurbished products.
4-0 out of 5 stars A good product with a few grievances
I own this PDA and love it.I work as a nurse and this PDA allows me to carry several reference books and nursing "tools" even without an extra memory chip.I also have several games for downtime fun.The screen is capable of displaying high quality graphics. However, sometimes the super sharp graphic version of a game/program might run slower than I would like. The personal organization software that comes with the unit is my favorite part of the whole deal.It turned my laptop into my personal organizer and you can download your whole schedule to your PDA for later reference. Most software runs without problems on the unit.I've only had difficulty with some of the oldest palm programs (most of which you would not want to use anyhow).Once you are ready to expand your memory you can use Sony's generic memory chips....up to 128 megs I believe. So long as Sony keeps using those for their cameras and other products those chips will remain available.

1-0 out of 5 stars Great product...until you try to have it repaired
My Handspring was a trusted resource for the first 9 1/2 months I had it. Last week, it suddenly stopped working. I went to Handspring's site and filled out the return form only to be told it was out of warranty, which wasn't true; I have 2.5 months left on my warranty. I called Customer Service and was told of my options: Call Tech Support with my claim, which charges a flat fee of $20; have it repaired "out of warranty," for $100; or, as Handspring's website suggests, 4-0 out of 5 stars The platinum is GOLD
I bought this after much hesitation that I would "never need a PDA." Well, with the included software, sync-cradle and it's onboard memory, I couldn't live without it.From addresses to 3rd party software, it's my constant companion.4-0 out of 5 stars Wonderful, wonderful device except for...
...occasionally bits of memory mysteriously disappears. For example, of my daily mileage tabs for the past six months, November's mileage records have inexplicably vanished, though this month's (December 02) mileage records are intact. This happened to me a while back with September's mileage records, but they inexplicably reappeared a few weeks later!I'm hoping the same will happen to the missing November records...Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Amazing Product
I've had the Ipaq 1910 for over 18 months and use it every day. It's been dependable, reliable and more than I could have asked for.The SD slot and removable batteries makes it more than flexible.A few extra batteries (cheap anywhere) gives one as much time as needed and the SD cards (also cheap) allow for the carrying of an infinate amount of data.
2-0 out of 5 stars Good product, but not for long
I bought this a while ago and loved it.Then once the warranty expired it went on the fritz. The unit freezes with the backlight on.Once this happens it can't be turned off unless the battery is removed. This causes it to rest and all information is lost.I would not recomend this product.

4-0 out of 5 stars good, if you don't need much space
I bougth it about 2 and a half years ago, works great, the software CD needs a new version of the sync sofware, and you can download it from the microsoft home page.

When the Palm VII was first released, it garnered a lot of geek chic, thanks to it being the first handheld to include an integrated wireless modem. With more and more wireless handheld devices and peripherals entering the market (such as the RIM Blackberry and the OmniSky Minstrel modem for the Palm V), is Palm's wireless entry still a viable alternative?
