it's a lemon
I was ready to really love this pda. It's nice and thin, feels good in the hand and was the cheapest PDA with wireless. I mainly needed it to check my email when i'm out and about.
Works as designed...mostly
It does everything they sayt it does. My only quibbles keeping this from 5 star status is Windows Media Player insists on loading media into the small internal memory rather than my 1 gb sd card. And the wireless occasionally does not connect to my access point, dropping th ewep key settings when it doesnt connect right away. One other flaw is the terrible IR range.
Bravo!
This is an extraordinary, cute and very well priced pocket PC which I am sure you will also love once you take it in your hands. It offers various operations and is small enough to put it in your pocket. I am very, very satisfied with it and I want to congratulate HP for yet another great product!

Disappointing.
I bought my Tungsten E about 2 months ago to replace my dead Zire 31. At first, it seemed pretty good, but it all went downhill from there.
Not too bad
I have had a tungsten e for almost 2 years. (My previous Handspring died in an auto accident.)I haven't had any real problems. It mostly does what it is supposed to. My biggest issue is that the charger is not dual voltage and a meager 90 day warrenty. My daughter has a tungsten e. Her power switch broke. The cost of repair is such that it cheaper to by a new one. I was able to disasemble the device ( no help from the Palm website ) and solder a broken contact back in place. Quite a feat with an old Radio Shack soldering iron. So far it still works.
Does What It's Supposed To Do
have used various models of Palms since the mid 90s. the Palm replaced my Franklin planner many years ago.

Invaluable tool for crossword puzzles. It makes cheating a lot more fun.. :-)

This unit is larger than the previous unit. Not as easy to hold but easier to see.It uses regular batteries and is less expensive to maintain.Hope it lasts as long as the last one.
OUT OF TROUBLE AGAIN
My wife is a crossword nut who doesn't do well with Saturday and Sunday's New York Times crossword puzzles.I think the Times puzzles gets crappier as the week progresses with clues having as little to do with the solution as fast food has anything to do with proper nutrition or as the 'Republican' noise machine has anything to do with integrity and honesty. She likes them nonetheless and it does give me more free time as the week develops while she clamors through her various aids (cheat devices) to uncover a word that is and remains clueless.Lazy or incompetent puzzle producers get by through teaching puzzlers code words that link other more meaningful words as answers that make folks feel smarter once they master the code. She loves the 206 and says it "Kicks butt" ...thanks

great medium-level palm
got the zire 72 ~2 years ago, replaced with t/x 12/05 (see my review on it). thought i should still write a review because i thought it was a great palm overall.
Palm sized power
I had a Palm III followed by a Palm V and I was pretty pleased with both these older model PDAs. After some study, I opted for a Palm Zire 72 and I am very pleased with the features.
Problems from the beginning
I bought this device because I loved that I could use it for both work and personal fun.I bought it in September 2004, and by January 2005, I'd returned it because the blue paint was peeling off.PALM was pretty awful to deal with.It was returned to me in April or May.When they did return the device, it would not sync properly.I called PALM and they gave me the run around, telling me it was my PCs problem, my company's problem, etc. They wouldn't take it back. Then the warranty expired and they wouldn't take it back, and quite frankly I was exhausted by the whole thing and stopped using it for a couple of months. Finally, in January 2006 I decided just to use it for its organizational tasks and forget the syncking. Now, June 7, that just broke and I am throwing it away.

Great Little PDA
I recently purchased the Sharp OZ-590A at a local office supply chain for $49.95 and it did exactley what I needed to do. I am a pool service and repair contractor and I needed an organizer to store all my customers contact info and addresses, along with some of my suppliers info as well. I set the date and clock on the unit, plugged it into the supplied USB cable and downloaded my Outlook contacts info. It worked flawlessly! It even downloaded the notes entered with each contact. All your Outlook info such as contacts, appointments etc. will download into it or you can upload from the unit to Outlook as well. It gives you home, office, fax and mobile phone numbers as well as email address too. It has a calender, appointment scheduler, anniversary & birthday reminders and evan a language phrase book and translater which you can choose not to download from the CD rom if you wish. You can even download your emails and read them on the go. If like me, you just need a basic organizer for contact info and schedule reminders, this unit can not be beat! Recommend highly.
Amazing for the price !!!
I recently bought this PDA for 49.99 since my (paid $120 and less than one year old ) palm zire 31 screen started acting up. This is exactly what I was looking for since I only use a PDA for contacts and storing personal info.
PLEASE SAVE YOUR MONEY
I have been a user of PALM for several years and now am retired, but find that using a handheld is part of my life.I don't need a handheld with a lot of bells and whistles, but this no doubt is one of the worst ones I have come across.I changed batteries at least three times upon receiving this personal organizer and it still didn't work....a hint of things to come.

NOT compatible
I am not a tech 'saavy" person.I found it extremely dificult to begin using my unit.I wasted HOURS of my life on hold and on the phone with tech support trying to trouble shoot the problems. The first dude was okay helpful, but it didn't matter, because after a 62 minute phone call (including 30 minutes of hold time) still the unit was not functioning. The next 2 cust service people decided that it could be the cord, so each of them sent me out a new cord- which was not the problem. The next dude was much more knowledgeable and we found out that my processor, because it is not intel, was not compatable-that is after I also found out that the disc they send is DVD, not CD, so I was already using my daughters computer to attempt to load the disc.So in the end, I was able to copy the DVD onto the hard drive then copy to the card reader. But of course, I have still not loaded active sync and therefore I cannot back up or save any contact or calender info.I was told from Garmin that if the batteries die then all your contact and calender info is deleted.I can buy an additional backup system and back the info up to the SD card, but I will have to borrow a friend's compatible computer to do that!!!!
Nice idea but buggy software
I bought this unit as a gift for my wife. We already have a Garmin GPS unit that we love and she had a need for PDA functionality so this seemed ideal.
I love it
This is better than I expected with large software interface buttons and loud speaker. The only thing is...if you are not familiar with GPS devices, it may take you a little while to figure out how the antenna aquires a signal.

Best pda you can ever own!
Best pda you can have if you want the basics. It only has 1mb of memory if your thinking that 1mb on a handheld makes it worthless...its not! 1mb is overkill for it not only that but it has a built in keyboard, backlight, flip cover,2 games, the batterys last unlike normal battery powerd handhelds, you can drop it from 2 storys onto hard wood and it still works, built in english spell checker, english to spanish tanslater, alarm clock & its only 20 bucks. If your new to pdas or just looking for a cheap little back up this is the one.
Totally Awesome!!!!!!!!
This Sharp YO-P20HII organizer is the best of the best. It has everything. If you are my age, 13, than this is the thing for you. It traslates English to spanish, it connects to Outlook, there is a calculator, memos, etc. If you have 20 bucks and you dont know what to buy, buy this. You will definitely not regret it.
Good buy
After reading the previous reviews on this organizer I purchased one myself. The one thing I would like to comment on that others did'nt is that this model only comes with a serial port hookup, so if you have a newer computer or laptop without a serial port your going to be looking for a cheap serial to usb converter like i did. Make a note!

Freezes all the time
I bought this HP iPAQ 2795 PDA few weeks ago. Initially, it intermittently started to freeze and also couldn't work with Bluetooth so I called HP's customer service. They asked to upgrade the ROM through some online instructions. That upgrade deleted all the data that I saved on the device and I got a fresh start again. It worked fine again for couple of days and it froze again while I was in the middle of a meeting. This time I tried doing a hard reset and it didn't work. So after the meeting it plugged it again to the cradle with AC power and the PDA rebooted again and started working fine. Again it worked fine for another day and the screen froze again. This time nothing is getting it out of this freezing. I tried hard reset, clean power reset (described in the instructions book), plugged it on the cradle and applied the AC power. It's not coming out of this freezing. It's in this state for the last 4 - 5 days now.

Give me a break!!
Good grief, guys! This thing is just an organizer, not a PDA.It costs 1/10th as much, and what it is supposed to do, it does great! The words wrap - big deal. Can't read address all on one screen - c'mon. For $30 you can dump all the data in your Outlook database into this light slim organizer, and have it all in your pocket wherever you go.I've been using one of these for a couple of years to carry my Outlook info with me, and it is totally easy to use.And of course if you need to enter any changes, or pop a note to yourself, it syncs back to your PC with a click. And if you drop it and break it, so what!$30 for a new one, instead of $300!!
the touch screen sucks
i bought this organizer cos i saw the previous reviews saying its cheap and good but it really sucks when i first used it. the touchscreen of the organizer isnt sensitive and too hard to key in the alphabets i want. second, the word structure on the screen is arranged in an awful and confusing way and its hard to read what u have just written. i seriously dont recomend this product to anyone.
Very Disappointing
The Sharp OZ-290H is inexpensive, and that is the only good thing about it.The size of the print on the screen is too large to allow me to view an entire name and phone number or an entire address together. The screen is cluttered and not easy to read. The navigation is awkward and clumsy. The cover is a piece of cheap molded plastic.

finally got it, and love it
I used to have RX3115, but I took the LCD out to replace the cracked LCD on HX2415
not for everybody, but it does have a lot for the $
My attraction to the RX 3715 is the bundle of features it contains, including Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, reasonable memory with a 1 GB SD card, and the little digital camera. If you are looking for more speed, this is not for you. But, if you want a multi-package, it is.
You have to learn your PDA first...
Basically I got the same problem as Frank did and I suspect we are not alone here. One day the screen started freezing on me right at the end of the booting sequence and software reset did not help. I thought something had burned out inside and prepared to send it back for warranty repair. However after short talk to HP tech support it turned out that special hardware reset (two buttons and one pin, you can find it in product support section at www.hp.com) perfectly solves this problem at the unfortunate price of losing everything stored in the memory. I have worked out a good habit to back up memory regularly so it took me 5 minutes to recover. Regarding the searches of more reliable device I have one question: Are you always changing your desktop computer when Windows freezes on you? PDA is just another computer with Windows on it, so be prepared for unexpected particularly when you feed your little buddy with uncertified software. The camera on this device did not meet my expectations. I need sharp pictures of text. I am too lazy for re-typing info from different text sources and prefer taking a picture of them, but most of my pictures turns out to be unreadable. (Maybe I am a lousy picture taker, but this device does not work for me anyway). In spite of all the above I like this device. MP3s sound great. Outdoor pictures turns out good. Movies play smooth and nice. Mike is acceptable for speech recording. Battery life is unmatched as long as you do not turn on wireless. What else do you expect from small multimedia PDA? I would buy it again, especially if it were half-price:)

A Wonderful Product
I have been using the 3600 since the fall of 2003, when it first come out.It is a wonderful product and has served me well. You can't beat the combination of Palm and GPS.Prior to receiving it as a birthday present I used a stand alone Palm, which was great by itself. The combination is awesome.I carry
Great Product. Never Had Battery Probs ... Maybe because ....
I read the directions before I began using it. I've had it for nearly three years now. 1) I don't use it with the screen up at max brightness; 2) When it's not connected to the cigarette lighter adapter, I disable the WA-AS setting (more than doubles the power consumption); 3) I avoid using the GPS feature for navigation when on battery power (only use it for spot locating a position) since the GPS really consumes lots of power; 4) I watch the on screen battery indicator for low charge and when it gets low guess what? Iturn it off and put it on the charger as soon as I have the chance.

I may not be the best judge
I may not be the best judge of the quality of this PDA but i upgraded to it from my Palm Visor. It seemed easy enough to use and the camera feature was what drew my attention THE MOST! I loved this palm it remains my favorite long after its untimely demise (my dog stepped on the LCD screen! *cries*), i even tried to find on shortly after but no where could get me one as quickly as i needed it. So i was stuck with the zire 72. Its ok, the camera quality is MUCH better on the 71, and i miss it greatly but 118 bucks to replace for an identical or 120 to fix, just wasnt worth it. I loved this palm and would recommend it to any one! (Get the plug in keyboard too! Its awesome for college note taking!)
SUPER GREAT Zire 71
the zire 71 is a great palm. i love it. it has a great battery life, and a high res. screen.(360x360) The backlight is great.the camera is amazing. also the camera has 3 different resolutions.(160x140, 360x360, or 650x480) the mp3 player is great. sound quality is awsome! I hope you get one!
It's great ... but I'm still disappointed
This is the slickest pda I've ever owned. I bought it 2 years ago because of its great color screen. My eyes are a little weak and the hi res color is so nice! That it has a built in camera was just frosting at first but I find I use it all the time now. So why am I disappointed? You can't put the darn thing it its case without it turning on and running down the battery. I don't like carrying it around unprotected or banging in my pocket. And I don't want to add to the size and weight by getting a clunky box to put it in. I know this makes me a dinosaur but I actually like the original palms the with their tough plastic case and flip top. Of course the screens were so bad I couldn't read them. Oh, well...
