5-0 out of 5 stars Pretty Great
I recently bought this stereo for my living room. I'm very very satisfied. It was pretty easy to set up. The sound is also very wonderful. The bass and treble features are great too. 5 disc changer is a plus. I recommend this product to anyone who's looking for a good stereo.
5-0 out of 5 stars Flawless budget mini-stereo
I bought this model in order to be rid of my almost-new Sony MHCEC70 with its faulty ergonomics and detestable tuner.Having once owned an earlier PM-series model, this new Panasonic was the obvious choice and it does not disappoint.Like its predecessor, the PM53 is a nice, powerful compact stereo with (for the money) ridiculously nice audio quality and a good tuner, especially on the FM band.It can easily be turned up load enough to cause hearing damage and annoy neighbors in adjacent houses. The remote covers every function and is easy enough to figure out without consulting the manual.
4-0 out of 5 stars Excellent system for the price
It was very easy to put together and takes up minimum space. However, the sound is not minimal and is great for my needs.I particularly like the equalizer for both my pop and classical music. The radio, with the antenna, has great sound with little static. The cd player is great for my needs; easy to play just one cd or the entire deck.

5-0 out of 5 stars Another Great Sony Product
I've been a Sony customer since 1962 when I purchased their 101 reel-to-reel Tapecorder and it still works as well as it did the first day. Needless to say, this Sony SRF-M97 Radio Walkman is a gem, but programming the initial stations is cumbersome. However, after much trial & error it all comes together. It's worth every cent!
2-0 out of 5 stars Static, Static, Static
This did not live up to its price or my expectations.I walk to work and there was static on both AM and FM -

3-0 out of 5 stars Love the size
This is the first portable radio I have ever used. I love the size - small enough to not be in my way when I work out. Reception is not perfect but since I've never had another one, I don't have anything to compare to. But overall, I can get most of the stations I want to listen to with bearable statics some of the time (depending which direction I'm facing). I got a $30 discount for getting an Amazon credit card. Otherwise I wouldn't have bought it for $60. ... Read more

Not every space can accommodate a traditionally sized stereo system, which is where the Sony CMT-NEZ30 comes into play. The diminutive unit fits easily in a work cubicle, bookcase, tool cabinet, or rec room, yet still boasts plenty of power for small rooms (30 watts total), a pair of full-range speakers, and a trio of reliable components. The top-loading CD player serves as the centerpiece, with such features as CD, CD-R, CD-RW, and MP3-CD compatibility and a host of playback modes, including program, shuffle, and repeat. The four-track, two-channel cassette deck, meanwhile, not only records from CDs or the radio, but also starts recording at the moment the CD starts playing, ensuring seamless playback later on. Add in a digital AM/FM tuner with 30 station presets (10 AM and 20 FM) and you have a system that aims to please.Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Needs tweeking for the 5th star.
Out of the carton -- everything worked as advertized, and the sound is pleasant. The speakers are the weak link. The day after I set it up to test it, I replaced the speakers with an inexpensive pair of Radioshack speakers I bought years ago: model 7s, I believe -- 4" woofer, 1/2" tweeter in a small, solid sealed enclosure of walnut veneer. These speakers are half the size of the supplied SONYs, and at least twice the weight.
1-0 out of 5 stars It's ok..
Not a bad little unit...wish it remembered where you were on the CD when you turn it off like other units I'm used to especially since it doesn't really "shut off" but goes into "stand-by" mode...Not as much power as I thought it would have for 30 watts... Would be nice if the aux (ipod/mp3) jack was on the front not the back...speaker 2 output would be nice...simple little unit, works fine so far...

Editorial Review

There's no rule that stereo systems have to be big and bulky, as this trendy microsystem from Philips aptly proves. The wall-mountable MC235 is a mere 3.78 inches thick--bigger than a credit card but far smaller than the average CD player and speaker combo. Yet the system still packs dynamic audio performance inside its narrow body, with such features as digital sound control and digital dynamic bass boost (DDBB). The former invites the user to choose between different sound settings, including optimal, jazz, rock, techno, and classic, and then automatically adjusts the sound balance and frequencies to create the most favorable setup for the chosen music style. DDBB, on the other hand, enhances the bass at low, mid, and high volumes to deliver rich, deep sounds, an important consideration for a small system such as this.Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Pretty good buy
Like it. not great on the low end of sound, but definitely a good buy for the $$$$.

4-0 out of 5 stars Attractive and inexpensive product
This small stereo system is exactly what it claims--a good small system at a good price.Sound is solid, and although bass and treble adjustments are limited to several factory preset mixes, one of the presets seems to work well for everything from talk radio, to jazz, to classical, or rock.

4-0 out of 5 stars pretty good
I have had this for about a year and it has worked well. I specifically bought it to tune into radio, so I have not used the CD player and whatever functions it might have. Pretty light, 7 of 10 sound quality, can hang on wall, detachable speakers. Good for cost. I would recommend and buy for a gift.

4-0 out of 5 stars Great for a small office
I recently purchased this item for my wife who has a small office.the reception on this unit is great.Bieng in a steel building she is able to get all the local radio stations. Sony's mini systems are designed to deliver big sound from a small package, and the MHC-EC70 doesn't disappoint. The 320-watt system (160 watts x 2)--which fits beautifully in an apartment, small home, or office setting--comes with everything you need to fill your listening space with rich, full-bodied music, including a three-disc CD changer, a single-well cassette deck, a digital AM/FM tuner, and a pair of three-way bass-reflex speakers. The CD changer is the system's centerpiece, with such features as CD-R, CD-RW, and MP3 (on CD-R/RW) playback, track programming, and repeat and random play. The changer also offers play exchange, which invites listeners to swap out two CDs while the third keeps playing--a must for parties and other occasions where you don't want to miss a moment of music. 2-0 out of 5 stars Not as good as the MHC-GX250
I thought this new model would be a good replacement to my old MHC-GX250 which was a bit big for my new smaller room. But I was the MHCEC70 Minisystem is truely "Mini" and inferior in quality to the older MHC-GX250 which was around $280 and was well worth it. This system does not deliver the 320 Watts compared to my older system which used to blow up the room. Moreover it lacks an auxilary and Game Sync, so you can't hook up your TV, IPOD or XBOX to it..

2-0 out of 5 stars Unacceptable
This model was intended as a replacement for my not-very-old and yet quite functional Panasonic PM-series stereo. This is the kind of thing that happens when you browse Amazon while drunk late at night.
4-0 out of 5 stars Good performance for $150; but cheaply made (in China).
I've owned many Sony electronics in the past and have always liked their styling and functionality -- lots of hardy Walkmen, useful shortwave and portable radios, stylish TVs and high quality cassette recorders.I still have a Sony mini component stereo model FH-E656 (made in Japan) which I bought in 1992 for US$400+; but rather than pay to fix its worn-out CD player, I decided to purchase this new Sony MHCEC70 component stereo (made in China).

Harking back to the all-in-one systems that listeners used to own before digital formats became dominant, this Teac DC-D6300 shelf system will keep CD, vinyl, and cassette enthusiasts entertained for years. The 30-watt system is centered around a three-disc drawer-type CD changer for enjoying CDs, CD-Rs, or CD-RWs, along with a three-speed belt-driven turntable for revisiting your vintage 33-1/2, 45, or 78 rpm albums and singles (or even enjoying limited-edition new albums). Should you need to record from CD or vinyl, you can turn to the dual cassette deck, which offers playback, traditional recording, and tape-to-tape dubbing, depending on your needs. And as with most shelf systems, the DC-6300 also includes a digital AM/FM tuner with 40 total presets (20 AM and 20 FM). The presets make it easy to access your favorite stations at any time. 3-0 out of 5 stars Not good enough
I had a Sharp CMS-F800 for many years before this one. Since I'm bi-tonal, as it were,(records and tapes) I need these components, even in an age of CD's. I also have CD's now, so the added CD changer, while unnecessary, seemed like an asset. Amd yet, something registered that all this for this price, and in a handsome exterior, spelled trouble in terms of economizing somewhere. I would have preferred no CD-changer. For these are the negatives.
4-0 out of 5 stars I LOVE MY NEW STEREO!
First of all, there is nothing wrong with the volume button on this stereo, as another reviewer claimed. You just turn the dial left or right repeatedly, and the dial makes a clicking noise as the volume goes up or down. I agree with the reviewer who says this unit does it all at a reasonable price. Yes, there are some obvious missing features--such as the needle bar not having an automatic return. But overall, I'm very happy with this unit. The sound is good, I love the separate speaker system, and I'm having a so much fun playing all my old records! If you're on a budget, don't go out and buy all your old favorites on CD. Get this unit and take advantage of your record collection! I've even added to my record collection by shopping thrift stores and music exchange stores--albums are as cheap as a dollar each! I highly recommend this stereo unit!

4-0 out of 5 stars I am so happy I bought this!
I wanted something that played everything (all records, tapes, cd's and radio) and now I have it.The ability to put my records on tape is a great plus. The sound is much better than the vintage-looking brands and it still doesn't take up too much space.Note - a prior reviewer said the volume knob doesn't work, but it does.To increase/decrease the volume you have to repeatedly turn the knob in the direction appropriate. This way it doesn't blast and you can make subtle adjustments in volume. My only criticisms are inadequate explanations of how it works (as the volume issue indicates) and difficulty seeing the details of the different functions with old eyesight like mine. ... Proving once again that good things come in small packages, the JVC FS-Y1 audio/video system comes loaded with valuable features for the discerning music and movie fan. 5-0 out of 5 stars Tons of features for the money
For the money, this has several great features. The sound really surprised me for such a small unit. If there is still not enough bass for you, there is a subwoofer output to plug into. It has aux. input to hook the TV to so you can watch the game or race with a little more than just the tiny TV speakers.
3-0 out of 5 stars Great sound, beware of player noise
Sound quality is excellent, ton of features (plays almost every music format there is, not to mention DVDs), compact and aesthetically pleasing. However, the unit itself is very noisy during disc play. A loud high pitch whirring noise from the CD motor can be heard over low to medium volumes. You'd have to pretty much set to high volumes when playing music or movies if you want to drown out any of the noise coming from the CD unit. If you can live with the noise, this is a good buy, nothing else compares when it comes to the available features. But beware, the inability of the unit to control disc noise may be why it's so affordable.

5-0 out of 5 stars Amazing little system
I have a large 100 watt stereo setup that consists of five JVC components and two pairs of speakers. I bought this system as something I could play easily when I wasn't doing "serious" listening.

Relive the era of sock hops and soda jerks with this classic Teac '50s-style stereo system. The SL-D80 combines a mid-20th-century aesthetic (witness the jukebox-like front panel and classic chrome highlights) with a modern touch (a top-loading CD player), letting listeners tap into their CD catalogues while fondly remembering when 45s were all the rage. The system also includes an analog AM/FM tuner with a rotary dial and a pair of integrated stereo speakers. It's the CD player that steals the show, however, as it not only plays your favorite tunes, but also offers 20-track programming and shuffle play functions, letting you create a custom soundtrack or mix up your selections depending on your mood. 3-0 out of 5 stars Good Unit. . Terrible FM
What the other two reviewers say about this CD/radio is basically true.Good sound.Unique, good looks.Simple controls (though some buttons and text are quite tiny). However, the FM tuner on mine is truly terrible - unlistenable on most stations.Using this radio, a few strong stations drown out almost everything else on the dial, giving you what sounds like multiple stations on top of each other.Don't even consider this product if listening to FM is important to you.By the way, this is not an "alarm clock".It has a clock but no alarms.
5-0 out of 5 stars great product/cool look
Like the previous poster, my husband and I were looking for a radio/CD player for our newly remodeled kitchen. We looked at a lot of the undercounter ones and didn't like the way they looked and furthermore, none really fit in our space, due to undercounter lights. So, we then started to look for small radios that would fit on our countertop. After spending thousands and thousands to demolish our galley kitchen, and update with all new layout, new countertops and all new stainless stell appliances, the last thing we wanted was a big clunky boom box cluttering up are improved, but still limited counter space.I did a lot of internet searching and stumbled upon this TEAC.We absolutely love it.First, the retro look is great. It blends seamlessly with our new kitchen.Second, the sound is very good for a radio this small.Obviously, it's not perfect, but for the price, is outstanding. We have received many, many compliments on the "look" and "sound".

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Look and Sound... Get it Before It's Gone
My wife and I had been looking at under the counter, space-saver CD/radio units for some time, with mixed results. They're not found in stores except around the holidays, and we received one such unit as a gift.I don't mind telling you that the gift, a GPX, was possibly the worst piece of garbage ever.Neither the CD nor the radio on it worked out of the box.Further investigation of Amazon reviews found some troubling trends among better-name manufacturers: while the sound was OK on these under the counter units, the reliability looked spotty at best.

Editorial Review

The Philips MCM530 micro shelf system offers robust power and a host of great listening features in a sleek, compact package, making it a great choice for offices, kitchens, and finished basements. The system centers around the five-disc CD changer, which lets you play hours of uninterrupted music in a single setting. The CD changer also plays self-recorded CD-Rs and CD-RWs, so you can create your own soundtracks, along with MP3s recorded on a CD-R/RW. Because a single MP3-CD can hold up to 10 hours of music, adding five of them to your changer results in a staggering 50 hours of consecutive tunes--enough to satisfy even the most zealous music fan. The CD player also includes a variety of essential playback modes, including 99-track programming, repeat (one or all discs), and shuffle play.Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Wow!
I was amazed at the sound this thing makes! As soon as I got it, I played a rock radio station - amazing reception and sound! I tried many stereo systems at different stores, and most of them couldn't pick up any radio stations within the building, but this one could.
5-0 out of 5 stars AWESOME STEREO!
I've had this stereo for about 2-3 years now and it still works great. The sound quality is amazing and it even has a little max sound button. Has great features including 5 disc changer and usb port. Also, sleep and wake up timer and a 'dim' option so the lights in the stereo arent so bright (great for at night). However, it is a little loud when changing discs but really not a big deal. I definitely reccomend this to anyone who wants a great stereo!

5-0 out of 5 stars Great sounding little powerhouse
I bought this unit from a local retail store as it caught my eye and was on sale. I have this unit set up in my bedroom, connected to my Roku M1000 Soundbridge to listen to online radio stations.... and the sound is amazing.

4-0 out of 5 stars Crippled Recording: NOT for converting cassette recordings into AAC or MP3 format.
At first I was delighted with this unit's easy set-up, smart appearance, intelligent design and functionality, and high-quality sound. However, I soon discovered that it won't perform the main function for which I bought it: converting old personal analog cassette recordings into digital format(s).

Proving that a stereo doesn't have to be big to deliver a huge sound, the Sony LBT-ZX6 splits 560 watts of power between two channels, making it the perfect party system for space-challenged rooms. The main unit comes with such components as a five-disc CD changer, a dual-well cassette deck, a five-band spectrum analyzer, and an AM/FM tuner, yet checks in at a mere 14.25 by 17.2 by 18.3 inches (W x H x D). Thanks to the narrower-than-usual housing, you can easily fit this system on a bookshelf or tabletop rather than carving out space in an entertainment console.Read more

Editorial Review

Reminiscent of the all-in-one units that people owned in the late '80s--before LPs started nearing extinction and well before MP3s first hit the scene--the GPX HMTU3234 keeps nostalgic music fans entertained for days on end. The 30-watt system, which includes a pair of full-range speakers with metal grilles, plays everything from modern CDs and CD-Rs in its three-disc front-loading CD player to old-school LPs on its classic two-speed belt-drive turntable. Listeners can also play their favorite cassettes from yesteryear, provided they haven't burned the tapes in an '80s-purging moment,
