EXCELLENT PRODUCT FOR THE PRICE
This Visioneer scanner is an excellent product for the price and absurdly simple to use. Delivers high quality picture scans, and posseses OCR capability as well. Its sleek design and light weight make it very desktop friendly.

Crap, Crap, Crap!!!
There is no other way to put it. All Visioneers are garbage. Purchased my 2nd one (after first one died for no reason after a year) and have experienced many problems.Lately it won't let me scan anything because of an error saying to "unlock your scanner".There is no Freakin lock on the darn thing!!!After contacting the company many many times (btw - there customer service sucks! - No telephone number, unless u pay $2 per minute, just a computer-generated machine that unsuccessfully helps you called SARA). I finally put a claim in through the Better Busines Beaureau, there response was that they couldn't send me a new scanner cause it was after 1 year of my purchase, but they would be so kind enough as to let me purchase a new one and give me 25% off of their price (which was probably an elevated price). I told them to kiss off! Anyway - please don't buy this product or any Visioneer product - they Suck!

Works as advertised
This speaker selector works as advertised. It is easy to set up. I am not an audiofile or an expert. Set up took about 25 minutes, including reading the simple manual. I had 6 pairs of speakers to install. The plug-in terminals made this simple. A definite improvement over my 4 pair ProLogic speaker selector. The only complaints I have are minor. A) There are no labels for the different speaker pairs. I had to use my old labels from the ProLogic. B) There is no indicator light to tell you which speaker pair is on. I have speakers outside and I have to walk to the unit to determine if that pair is on or not. ... Read more

Works perfectly
After reading the pair of "doesn't work" reviews from the same person, I decided to try it anyway, figuring that Amazon would do an easy refund if it really didn't work (also, I've had good experiences with other Sonnet products in the past).
It doesn't work
Nothing that uses FW400 responds to being plugged into this device, whether is it bus powered or not.

Item fine- order direct!
No complaint with the product itself- except for: I received my screen beaten like a red-headed stepchild by the gorillas that handle the freight at the airports- EVIDENTLY. Rather than go through the BS of getting another one shipped, and/or such, I have chosen to repair what I had delivered and encase it in the same type of wood my built-in entertainment center is made of. I highly reccomend dealing with the manufacturer when ordering such as this. I also ordered a ceiling mount for my projector, but denied delivery of a replacement lamp for a different projector type. Amazon's WRONG. I'll be VERY, VERY cautious in utilizing this service ever again. I highly reccomend, once again, each individual manufacturer's website!

??POP - POP - POP??
I had continuous popping as well, but it's not the Firewire 410's fault and it can be easily avoided.I had my Firewire 410 sitting right next to my Linksys router and was getting non stop popping coming through the speakers and my recordings. The popping stopped when I moved them about 2-3 ft. apart from each other.
Pop, pop, pop!!!!!!
I wish that was the title of a new song I had just recorded but it is not. It is the sound that I continue to get, on this week long recording sesion, I was doing. I could not understand what the problem was. Now I have to do it all over again, I am ticked off, and about to go and give an earfull to the folks who sold me this piece.
Your computer's limitations are your computer's limitations
Many of the negative reviews of the Firewire 410 posted are in my opinion symptoms of the purchaser's computers' limitations.Many factors can affect the "performance" of a digital audio interface.I'm no expert, but I have a good aptitude for reading manuals, and a good aptitude for the general properties of digital audio.Latency and lack of memory issues can be demonstrated by symptoms of popping, and crackles in a recorded track with any interface, USB or Firewire.Often it's a matter of setting the correct buffer size in the recording software or adding memory that can help avoid this issue.A deficit in memory can cause freeze-ups and anomalys in the final tracks.I would be inclined to believe that many of the complaints about this product could be fixed if folks understood the limits of their computers that they plug these interfaces into.It only amplifies these issues when you are utilizing a firewire (faster) interface to record music.The computer can't keep up.I have purchased the M-Audio Firewire 410 and found it to demonstrate all of these symptoms reviewers have described, except I was able to resolve the issues.I benchmarked my own computers' limitations and got back to reality that just because I spent $299 for an interface that it isn't a cure-all for recording the perfect track.So I can confidently say that IF you have a computer that meets the minimum requirements have a good knowledge of the properties of digital audio (Know what latency is, have enough memory, and how to adjust your buffer size), this interface performs superb.An analogy would be if you painted a rock, it may look good.
