Another wise purchase on my part..
I've had these all Summer and they are everything I need to enjoy Sims, music and DVDs.. hard to believe the sound and even the quality of the units for this price ($40-50)
Great Sound For A Great Price
For the price these speakers are unbeatable.They have great bass and great sound, Perfect for movies, games, and music.As long as you have the sound card able to support this system you will be satisfied.I have a laptop and with the adapter that comes in the box and a simple 6$ purchase from radio shack to connect my laptop to the adapter i could't be happier.

Great sounding and nice looking system.
For the price there are few PC speaker systems that can compare with Logitech's. I have had these for some 5 months now and haven't been disappointed once. The sound is great and they just flat out look nice. The corded volume control is nice but the red lights on the controller is a strange choice for color. The bass does sound good after some tweaking but for really nice bass you will need for fork over a little more $.
fire hazard
We purchased this system less than two years ago.It has seen light to moderate use.Several days ago, the speakers started intermittently cutting out. This afternoon, the subwoofer popped several times--then caught fire!Fortunately, my son was able to extinguish the flames before much damage was done.Beware!!!!!

Good for laptops!
First I was concerned that I will have to buy an external sound card to support the 5.1 setup for my laptop. But you can just plug in the green cable (out of the three provided for a conventional 5.1 sound card) in the stereo output of your laptop (like for the 2.1 speakers). There is a switch behind the sub-woofer which you can toggle between 2.1, 4.1 and 5.1. So change it to 2.1 and then turn on the Matrix function on the remote. This will give you a pretty good surround sound experience! When the matrix function is off, the front and rear speakers will give the same sound. But when it is turned on, the rear speakers provinde a nice background surround sound. Also, you can change the sub, center and rear speaker volumes from the remote.

Excellent Speaker System
I grudgingly decided to get a new PC speaker system after the "puck" controller on my Monsoon 3-piece system went bad (Monsoon is out of business so replacement parts are not available). Quality sounds means alot to me as I constantly listen to mp3's and streaming audio while at my desk, I am also an avid gamer (BF2, Doom3, etc).

I spent a lot of time looking and listening to a lot of different speakers in the local electronics stores.I kept going back to look at these online and read the reviews.For the money I thought I can't go wrong, and when I first hooked them up, I thought they did not sound any better than my old speakers--UNTIL I adjusted the sound under the SURROUND MIXER (under advanced tab)- moved all the settings in the middle except for the subwoofer.It made a world of difference.These speakers sound incredible!BIG sound for such a small price.Don't Look Any More - These are the speakers for YOU!

8 peices of Junk ...!!
These speakers quality is just next to crap , i mean these speakers dont even have any dam sound quality or deep bass to enjoy , i got them first for my audigy 2 ZS card , and they performed so bad i returned to the dealer and got myself " Logitech Z-5300 5.1 Speakers " ,these speakers have real quality and are THX certified so if anyone is putting money in 7800 i request dont do it and get yourself a Z 5300 .

Great value for 7.1 system
I have had these speakers for about a month now, and so far I have been extremely impressed with their quality for the price. This is definitely the best value you can get for a 7.1 system unless you go for the 400-500 dollar systems like the Creative Giga Works or similar. They do surround sound in gaming extremely well, for games like CS: Source, Unreal Tournament 2004, F.E.A.R., and Quake 4. For music, if you have the Sound Blaster Audigy 2 ZS the mixing and sound quality is just fine. Warranty info is bogus
I got the box with the styrofoam inside broken and the 10 year part of the warrany crossed out by a marker.Inside the owners manual, it says it only has a 90 day limited warranty, and that is only valid if you register within 5 days of purchase.I don't know what is going on, but there is a hell of a big difference between 10 years and 90 days.Plus, if it takes 3 days to get to me, I would only have 1 or 2 days to register for it to even be valid. Sound is average if you own a serious home theater already. Better than tv speakers, but I would have looked longer if I knew I was going to be jammed on the warranty.Refurb ones have the same warranty for $50 less from their sister company, athena technologies.

ASTOUNDING SOUND QUALITY AND VALUE
I actually do not own a XBOX.I want a SMALL surround sound system for my living room and I don't want too many bulky electronics.I decided to for for Spherex based on many raved reviews.The satellite speakers are based on the highly-regarded Omnipolar technology developed by Mirage system.

GREAT college system
This is one of the coolest systems available for a college student.The music fills space beautifully and clearly and is easy to carry around. Don't be deceived, the woofer is a lot bigger than it looks in the picture. Best system for the money. Period.

Wonderful for music!
I just bought these speakers to replace my old set of Cambridge Soundworks, which I must say, did a very decent job for the last 4 years. Being a TOTAL music lover, I am VERY picky about sound quality, even if it is just from a computer where is going to be coming from! I of course don't expect computer speakers with a sub-woofer to sound like a pair of Pro-Standing speakers, but I want at least to be able to hear downloads or CDs with decent sound quality while at work...Well, after much research and LISTENING, I went ahead and bought a pair of Encounters. Before buying them, I compared them with the Creature and Soundsticks speakers, also by JBL. I have to say the Encounter have a better imaging and a deeper warmer sound than the Soundsticks. The Creature ones simply don't even get close! As I pointed out, these are computer speakers, and as such, the bass (specially)is artificial, a sound that lacks "breath"; but...what could you expect for a plastic sub-woofer? On the other hand, is the most decent bass sound I've ever heard from computer speakers! better and more natural than any other sub-woofer on this price range and considerably higher. The mid and high registers sound really nice, great stereo separation, and as pointed out before, nice warmth without sounding un-natural. The power handling is superb! you get 13Watts RMS from this mini speakers plusa 34watts subwoofer...enough sound to fill a mid size room with excellent sound quality. You won't get the fancy design of the Soundsticks, but the sound of the Encounter is considerably better, and that ultimately is what I care about. Very higly recommended! ... Read more

Quality vs. copactivity
This s-750 system,, Wow!!!I have this sucker hooked up to my home entertainment system via a Creative DDTS-100 decoder. I was in an electronics store in the home entertainment system romm. The man was demonstrating a 4000.00 dollar+ system with the Phill Collins farewell tour DVD in it. I was drooling!!!

High end performance with new technology.
These speakers are ready to go right out of the box with everything you need to hook them up: cables, stands and wall mounts included. NXT Flat Panel tech sounds different than what your use to hearing, but in a good way.The "sweet spot" really is much larger than any sub/sat system I have heard.The difference is that the crossover is set much higher, over 250hz.So the sub has to play more of the mid and low range.I would say if your into heavy bass lines this is not your system. But the M-Cube sound is crystal clear and this system plays loud! You can't believe how loud these cubes go without distortion and the sub keeps right up.I recomend you follow the manual and give them a"break in period" of a week or so, because the sound did mellow a little bit.I left the radio on when I went to work.After that I let them rip. I purchased the Ivory color system and it goes fine with my siver components and Plasma,The color bands are kind of cool to change up the look of your room. What Mission gives you in the M-Cube is the best looking sub/sat system out there with high end build and high end sound. I have owned sub/sat systems from Klipsch, KEF, andB&W and while the sound is different from all of them,I'm sure I will have these a long time. ... Read more

Wonderfully and aesthetically pleasing to the eye and ears, but...
First of all, I would like to say that given the preceding reviews before me, I am in no way affiliated, coerced or paid by Mission to write this review. I did this just to let you know how I enjoy (or not enjoy, read on) these speakers for the last 1.5 years that I've owned them. And yes, this is my first official review on Amazon.com.
Margot is Right on the Money
I worked overseas selling high end audio speakers like Infinity Kappa series, Mordaundt Short, Kef, Mission, Wharfedale and B&W. (I wanted a pair of those so bad I could taste it!).Oh yes, we also carried the 'high end' line such as Infinity's lower lines, Polk, the lower end of Klipsch and of course, Bose.

I,ve had these speekers a while now and they are still going strong!
Good 5.1 System, stop working after 8 months
ok, i can't complaing about the sound, it's not the best but it's nice and smooth, enough for my small room, but there's a problem with these things 'cause the subwoofer stop working after 5 or 6 months i got a new one thanks to the warranty, but the sub doesn't sound again! looks like there is a problem with some pieces inside the subwoofer 'cause i've got the same problem one more time, and a friend of mine bought one of these and no surprisses, the sub is broken, it's like these thing was designed to last only 8 months. :s
