1-0 out of 5 stars Worst buy ever!!
This modem is a piece of crap.I have comcast as my ISP and with this modem, I have to reset the modem at least once everyday.I used to lease a sb5100 , had no such problems.I wouldn't recommend this modem to anyonem, get a sb5100.

4-0 out of 5 stars if the lights are on, the internet works
I got the BEFCMU10 solely because of the promotion going on when I was ready to switch to HSI.I've used it with three operating systems--Windows ME, Windows XP, and Slackware (linux).Installation was perfect on both XP and Slackware.ME gave me a bit of trouble with the driver (this is usual for my ME, at least--that's why I run Slackware on that machine now), but it wasn't too bad.Just walked through the driver installation process a couple of times and then it took.I've used it with the USB connection the most, simply because that's the cable I had handy when I was setting it up, but I've recently hooked it up via Ethernet, and it works fine, too.I haven't noticed any difference in speeds either up or down since changing to Ethernet. The modem's been reliable--the only connection problems I've ever had were my ISP's fault, not the equipment's.

5-0 out of 5 stars A GREAT PRODUCT!
I have an RCA cable modem with RCN as my ISP.A great service which I highly recommend. Needing to setup wireless at home, I bought the Linksys G-Router after purchasing an hp laptop. I got it to work with no problem but then I experienced frequent bandwidth loss and constant connectivity issues with the other pc's on my network.I wrongly thought that it was the router.Fool that I was! After countless attempts at recycling the modem and WPA keys etc., I finally figured out that the modem could not support the wireless router. I also discovered the modem had a short, plus RCA no longer carried it and the thing was ugly, taking up space.

I've since gotten the Linksys Modem (BEFCMU10) and stacked it with the WRT54G router and it works fantastic!!!Be sure to call your ISP with the modem's MAC address and/or serial# to get online.YOU WON'T get connected otherwise. My ISP had me up and running within 5 minutes. Also some ISP's give you a discount if you supply your own modem.Check it out. ... Read more

    Adobe Photoshop Elements 2.0
Average Customer Review: 4.0 out of 5 stars
    CD-ROM (02 August, 2002)
    list price: $99.00
US | Canada | United Kingdom | Germany | France

    Editorial Review

For intermediate digital image enthusiasts who don't need Adobe Photoshop, Adobe's barer-bones Photoshop Elements 2.0 works atop the same engine and provides many of the same tools for a fraction of the price.

Elements' interface is less complex then Photoshop, packaging oft-used quick correction tools in easy-to-access locations. The program gears itself toward the novice user looking to learn more about digital image modification and enhancement. You can also enter keywords into a search field and Elements will offer up related walkthroughs and instructions.

Elements can input images from a variety of sources, including scanners and digital cameras. It's more powerful than the average program bundled with any of these devices, so you can make it your default image editor for either or both. Stills can also be snagged from a variety of video formats, including QuickTime, MPEG, AVI, and Windows Media. Before opening images, you can browse through their thumbnails, which include a preview of the image as well as its size and type.

Inputted images can be enhanced, distorted, corrected, or combined into panoramas through the PhotoMerge stitching tool. The new Selection Brush lets users simply paint over an item they would like to cut or copy. While it still takes a steady hand to select non-straight edges, it's easier than using the standard selection tools such as the rectangular marquee or the lasso. Elements works well as a file manager as well, its new batch processing feature allowing users to make changes to several images at once.

Output options are also expansive, including attaching photos to e-mail messages, printing images, or saving them in a smaller Web format and then uploading them to the Internet. Beyond these typical tools, Elements users can create image slideshows in PDF format that can be viewed on PDAs as well as other PCs.

While there are other image editing programs that sell for the same price, Photoshop Elements brings to the table much of the power of its bigger sibling while making it accessible for the average user. --J. Curtis ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars digital arts teacher
Elements is a program that is packed with many of the same features as the more expensive full version Adobe Photoshop. The features that it doesn't have, like duotones, channel palette and Quickmask, can be worked around with an extra step or two. It is a terrific value.
That said, the learning curve for those new to the world of Adobe, can be pretty steep. I should know - I use it to teach a digital scrapbooking class at an Educational Center in California (yes - a FREE course). For those of you who have not used Adobe Products before, there is 3 to 5 ways to do just about everything - this can be confusing for beginners. Besides a menu bar with drop down windows, there is a toolbar, a tool editor, as well as palettes that dock and separate from the main menu bar. The Layer Palette (A wonderful and useful thing) seems to be particulary hard for beginners to understand.
My suggestion is, if you are just starting to use Adobe product, find a school and take a course BEFORE your purchase. Most of my student do end up buying the software, or a scanner that includes it, by the end of the semester.

5-0 out of 5 stars A must buy
I have worked with Photoshop for years now but I have never came accross anything as easy to use as Photoshop Elements. I can't think of anything better and more easier to use for created professional results. Really very good product!

5-0 out of 5 stars Elements 3.0 is Now Out
This is a great product, but don't get it 'cause Elements 3.0 will be released on Oct. 11th, and Amazon is already taking pre-orders.

Elements 3.0 is a much improved version of an already great product, and includes Adobe Album built-in to it.

1-0 out of 5 stars ZERO stars!Poorly designed product prone to failure!
Quite simply, there should be a class action type lawsuit against Epson for selling this unquestionably substandard printer that has given legions of consumers so many headaches and problems. It is more than coincidence when so many customers describe the same exact failures and malfunctions of this exact unit.Even a recall of the product and customer reimbursement would be in line.Ours just failed 'out of the blue' after just a few months right after we inserted a new cartridge! The printer would not print at all, and it made a very loud annoying noise which sounded like rocks being tossed about inside the printer! We have a business with 110 employees to run, and this printer's failure caused us some downtime and dollar losses, being it failed us during an important printing task.Call and/or write & e-mail Epson and demand they hold themselves accountable for this unreliable, shoddy product which is failing in droves!

1-0 out of 5 stars Stay away from this printer
This is the second epson printer that I've owned that failed shortly after the warranty expired. I changed the ink cartridges and now it won't print at all. A big waste of money!

1-0 out of 5 stars Engineered to fail
I'm convinced Epson has engineered this product to fail just as your warranty period is ending.I bought this unit in April 2003, and like many of the reviewers, I enjoyed good prints - for a while. When the print quality deteriorated - and it will - I ran through the entire process previously described by others, and eventually sent the printer back to Epson, and they sent me a brand new one. That was April 2004.Now, in April 2005, after enjoying a period of good prints, I am experiencing deja vu.It is very frustrating.I run a small home business and I need my printer to be reliable. This product is reliable only in the sense that you can rely on it breaking down.I also owned a little Epson Stylus 740, and it too broke down.I AM DONE WITH EPSON PRINTERS!The owner of my local printer repair shop says he sees this with Epson printers all the time.He recommends the Lexmark all-in-one (the one Dell sells). However, if you want a printer that will deliver good prints for a short time, the CX5200 is your baby.If I was reviewing this product 6 months into its life cycle, I would give it 4 stars. Now I wish I could give it less than 1 star.I notice all the newer reviews also give it 1 star (or at most 2 stars) so the 3.5 star average most definitely is misleading. ... 1-0 out of 5 stars Please read before you buy this
The first thing I noticed about this printer was the incredibly noisy paper feeder. The first time I printed I thought that I had not unpacked it entirely.

Setting that aside the printer seemed to do a pretty good job until it was about a year old.At that time it simply stopped working.I spent money to buy new ink cartridges but to no avail. Finally I called Epson and they agreed to send me a new printer and asked me to return the old one.

In about another eight months the second printer died.Coincidentally (or not) right at the time the ink cartridge was empty.Since I already had purchased spare ink I followed the instructions to replace the cartridge only to find that it would still not print.

I used a Q-tip to try and clean the nozzle but it did not good. At that point I decided to look for a new printer. When I checked Amazon on this printer I was relieved (in a way) to find out that I was not alone in my troubles.

This is now my third Epson printer that has died this way.You can be sure it will be my last.I will never, never buy another Epson product.

Let me sum my feelings up like this.Today is the first day above 50 degrees in the north eastern US since making it through the long, cold, snowy winter. The fact that I have chosen to spend even a moment of this day trying to warn others away from this product should speak volumes.

2-0 out of 5 stars Great until it dies
Works very well until it dies in under 18 months.Epson customer service is of no help after the warranty expires.I will not buy an Epson printer again - just purchased a Canon.

1-0 out of 5 stars Only Lasted 18 Months
Heads clogged up. Tried the cleaning cycle several times and new expensive ink cartridges. Didn't work. Called Epson, Tech support on the phone after warranty expires is $9.95. Sent them an e-mail explaining the problem and what I had done .... their reply >>> 'try the cleaning cycle and/or new ink cartridges'! That's it Epson, I'm going with a HP laserjet. ... Read more
