5-0 out of 5 stars Not soo big!
We purchased this about a year ago.

We love the foreman grill. This was the first time we had purchased something like this and we love the way it cuts down on cooking and cleaning! It's a cinch. The grease really does melt away.

The one complaint I have is that "Extra Large Family Size" doesn't adequetly describe this product. It doesn't fit anything more than 2 normal sized steaks or 2 breasts at a time.We would've opted for a bigger one if we would've known it was that small.Other than that we love it!

5-0 out of 5 stars This appliance reduced the mess in my kitchen, & @ the hotel
Keep it out of the sink! But, with a careful hosing this will come clean and limit the shock value that comes with wet innards. My advice: clean it right after using it... don't let it sit too long or you'll have a chore in front of you. Nice 'tuff teflon finish to the grittles. A breeze to use, no splatter. I take it where ever I go (I'm a road warrior playing bass in a kickin' jazz/blues, R&B touring band). I used to cook soup in hotel coffee makers and at one point duct taped two chairs together with the complementary clothes iron wedged face up in between. Covered the iron with alum foil and lived off of whitebread toast & velveeta sandwiches. Then I was into the apples and peanut butter phase, grapes, cheetoes, canned tuna (straight, no chaser) and it went down hill after that. Hotels with continental breakfasts are above the self imposed budget and we're never in one spot long enough to rent kitchenette accomodations. I still cook soup in the coffee makers, but I do clean up my messes with real dishwashing liquid and green 3M pads.

4-0 out of 5 stars LOVE IT!
This is the best wedding gift EVER. I use it almost every night, for chicken breast, or Boca Sausages... It makes my veggie dogs so nice, and crisp that even my meat lover husband is happy. My only problem with it is that the teflon is scratched off in 2 places, and it has only been 2 months. I used only the scraper they gave me but still.. Oh well. It is still my fav kitchen gadget. ... Read more

I'm a clean freak. The thought of having a product clean and freshen the air really appealed to me so I bought 4 Ionic Breezes for a 2700 sq. ft. home thinking that I would see a reduction in dust around the house. Wrong! Sure they collect dust on their metal plates but those small surfaces don't compare to the dust that still collects on my dresser, tables, floors and everywhere else. You would need 1 Ionic Breeze per Square foot in your house to ever see a measurable reduction in surface dust. I would have been happy to see a 25% reduction in dust but I'm not even seeing a 1% reduction. They must be cleaned one a week or else they will hum. We keep our home clean by removing our shoes at the door, by vacuuming at least twice a week, by keeping the windows closed and using the air central air conditioning system when necessary (with clean filters). As a room deodorizer I would give it 3 stars as it can freshen the air effectively within a few hours except for something extreme like cooking fresh fish. Cleaning the air from this odor can take 5-6 hours. By the way, I bought my units at the Sharper Image auction site and paid $150 each. Even at this price I consider them overpriced. They seem to have an unlimited supply of these refurbished units at their auction site which makes you wonder why they have so many returns. The idea of improving the air quality in a home is worthwhile but cannot be accomplished with this Sharper Image product.

1-0 out of 5 stars Silent Only If You Are Deaf
Here are the facts:I just received my second warranty replacement Quadra in three years (thank goodness they have a five year warranty!).(My brother is on his fourth in three years.)Even though I kept the unit clean and followed Sharper Image's instructions, each unit just suddenly died - failed to turn on.

Regarding Sharper Image's claim of being silent, my units wereanything but.Even after thorough cleaning the units hummed. They were loud enough that I had to turn them off at night in order to sleep. This "new" third one hummed right out of the box!

    Will I purchase another one?No.

5-0 out of 5 stars Greatest thing since sliced bread
I have bad allergies and I have been stuffing my face with allergy drugs and nasal sprays for the last few years. A friend had an Ionic Breeze and recommended that I take it home and try it out for a couple of days. I did and was amazed at what a difference it made. The room has that fresh ozone smell like after a rain. I ended up buying a full size and a smaller one for our house. It is an awesome product. My allergies are so much better now that I have these and I've scaled way back on the drugs. I recommend it. ... Read more

    Editorial Review

By combining 31,000 brush strokes per minute and gentle sonic waves, Sonicare electric toothbrushes scrub away decay-causing plaque from between teeth and along gum lines better than ordinary toothbrushes. Two full-refund guarantees are offered on this model (30-day satisfaction guarantee and 90-day improved-care guarantee), plus a 2-year warranty on the handle against defects. This Sonicare model serves two family members with their own compact-size brush heads, has an interval timer that beeps every 30 seconds to encourage thorough cleaning of each mouth section, shuts off after 2 minutes to indicate when cleaning time attains the recommended duration (the brush can be restarted), and ramps up to full speed slowly over the first 12 uses to reduce soreness for people unaccustomed to thorough cleaning (this feature can be turned off). The power handle holds a charge for about two weeks. A countertop brush-head holder is included. --Fred Brack ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Sonicare is riding the wave of the future
The biggest complaint I hear from people about electric tootbrushes is that the replacement heads are too expensive. Come now, that was the type of thinking that would have killed the Industrial Revolution!

For anyone who really cares about dental hygeine or even just the way they look to other people, you can't not use an electric toothbrush anymore. I laughed at the idea at first, but once I began using one I will never be able to use a regular toothbrush again without feeling like my mouth isn't clean. When you go to the dentist--what type of toothbrush does he/she use on you? Electric--for a reason, because it cleans better.

The marginally higher cost of replacing the heads rather than buying an entirely new disposable toothbrush is insignificant when you actually feel as clean as you can when you use an electric brush. Personal dental care has evolved to the next step, and you don't want to be caught be the last person using a slide ruler because you were too frugal to purchase the more expensive but more effective calculator.

Your teeth (and anyone who comes in contact with them) will thank you.

5-0 out of 5 stars Sonicare to the rescue!
My son bought this for me when I broke my wrist in four places and what a "saving grace" it is! Not only is the toothbrush convenient - it's also better than all the manual brushes you can buy. My teeth feel so smooth and wonderfully clean after just a minute and a half of brushing. I'm certainly not glad about my accident but I am thankful for the experience of this Sonicare toothbrush. I just bought my son one of the same brushes.

5-0 out of 5 stars No need to floss...
This is a MUCH better toothbrush than any manual toothbush out there (you simply can't compare...) better than the Colgate Actibrush and even better than Oral-B Plak Control.
No need to floss anymore ... because this brush does it all...
I have sensitive gums yet I feel no discomfort using it.
I think this is the best brush you can get - trust me! ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Great hair dryer
I really like this hair dryer. It is lighter than my last dryer, and very easy to manage. I like the setting options: cool, warm, or hot; and low or high. I use the warm & high settings. I think it dries my hair a little bit faster than my last dryer, and my hair feels Great! No frizz, not fried, just smooth and shiny. My hair is fine, not thick or coarse, so maybe that makes a difference in my experience.

3-0 out of 5 stars Louder, Heavier, & Bigger than I thought it would be.
This dryer is nice, it gets hot and does the job. However it's much louder than I imagined, far from quiet. It's much bulkier and heavier than I would have prefered.

1-0 out of 5 stars DON'T BUY THIS DRYER!!!!
I am not sure if I got a dud one or not but my experience goes like this. For the first two months of owning this hair dryer, it did a fine job.Nothing out of the ordinary--dried my hair just fine. The last time I used it, I noticed the general smell of burning hair when I was done. The dryer did not feel overly hot so I wasn't sure what happend. The next thing I noticed was the floor of my bathroom. There was alot more hair on the floor than usual.Upon closer inspection, I felt sick to my stomach.I noticed that there were actual clumps of hair that had fallen out---including the root. They smelled like burning hair. There were sections that had 10 hairs clumped together by the burned root.I was scared.Needless to say, I am running out today to buy a new hairdryer.Because of the burning smell, I know the hairdryer is to blame rather than a medical condition or something else environmental.Do yourself a favor and purchase a different hair dryer. ... CAMBRIDGE SoundWorks Radio CD ? Black
Average Customer Review: 3.0 out of 5 stars
    Electronics

US | Canada | United Kingdom | Germany | France

    Editorial Review

At a suggested retail price $150 less than its nearest competitor, the Cambridge SoundWorks CD-740 is the hands-down choice to make if you're in the market for a full-sounding table-top compact CD/radio system. If you're looking for a top-of-the-line alarm clock to go along with the sound performance that the Cambridge 740 offers, well, that's a different story. But let's start with the good news, because it's very, very good news.

    Sound
At the heart of the Cambridge 740 is a pair of high-accuracy speakers and a large subwoofer that somehow fits inside the unit's compact case. As we tested the FM reception on a classical radio station, a passerby turned her head and remarked that she'd never actually "felt" the bass from such a small radio before. And it's true; pop in any CD that's heavy on the bass, and you will definitely feel it. Whether you're listening to classical, jazz or rock, this baby will fill your small space with large sound. (We even placed the unit on an outside balcony at medium volume, and a full block away Mile Davis came through nice and clear. It was truly impressive.) It's hard to imagine finding a compact component system that's anywhere near the Cambridge 740 in quality at anywhere near this price.

    Design
At about five inches high, fourteen inches wide, and eleven inches deep -- smaller than a breadbox! -- there's no question that the 740 is compact. It's a perfect size for a table top. But is it a perfect size for a night stand? For our taste it's too bulky to place beside the bed. On a related note, the very small buttons -- of which there are twenty-one on the face -- are very small and it's not exactly a cake walk to set the functions, especially as you're waking up or getting ready for sleep. Thankfully, though, the included remote simplifies these tasks enormously. And aesthetically -- again, it's all a matter of taste, and we'll leave it at that. Nevertheless, in this case the sound quality more than makes up for any shortcomings of design.

FeaturesThere's no denying that this baby is loaded with features, most of which seem to work flawlessly. We played factory CDs as well as home-burned CDs with MP3 files without a glitch. The 32-character display, which offers title/track information, was invaluable, especially when playing MP3 files of songs we'd never heard before. And while scanning the FM waves (superb radio reception, by the way!), we were excited to see the radio station information scrolling across the screen. Separate bass and treble controls, a conveniently placed headphone jack, a credit-card sized remote, and 16 station presets all conspire to bring a smile to any user's face. In another nice touch, front and rear auxiliary inputs are provided for external audio sources such as a portable MP3 player.

    Alarm Clock
Our only bone of contention with the 740 centered on the alarm clock. After nearly two hours of following the otherwise quite helpful user's guide, we gave up trying to get the alarm clock to do what we wanted with any kind of consistency. We were able to get every feature to work at least once -- we figured out the way to wake up to the alarm tone, to the radio, and to a specific CD track -- but try as we might, it was frustratingly difficult to repeat our efforts successfully. A related grumble is that the display's automatic dimmer function does not dim enough for anything resembling a sleeping level. And finally, in two separate, three-day tests, we synchronized the time display to our cell phone's time, and in each test the 740 had lost one to two minutes by the end of the third day. This was not a scientific test to be sure, but it convinced us that the money dropped on the Cambridge 740 -- which we would gladly drop -- would be spent on its incredible sound technology, not on its alarm clock functionality.

    Pros

    • Exceptional sound quality for a compact unit
    • $150 less than the nearest competitor with similar functionality
    • Programmable display shows radio station information, CD and MP3 text
    Cons
    • Alarm clock user interface and accuracy could be better
    • Not compact enough for the bedside
    • Blue LED display should offer greater dimming

2-0 out of 5 stars An overpriced clock radio but better than Bose...
...which isn't really saying much, when you consider how pathetic the five hundred dollar Bose Wave radio is.

People, it's not rocket science: if you want quality sound you, miniaturizing and cramming together all your components into one tiny little box is NEVER going to do the trick---don't fall for all the advertising snake oil about "revolutionary technology," "virtual surround sound," etc.

At the very least a compact stereo system like the one hundred eighty dollar Sony CMTHPX9 has *detachable* speakers so you can get proper stereo separation and proper speaker placement.Or the Sony MHC-GX450 for an extra twenty dollars has a detachable subwoofer as well, not the ludicrous what, 3-inch subwoofer this Cambridge radio has?Either of these would blow this thing clear out of the water!

Even better would be to browse jandr.com for something like a cheap receiver (Sherwood 7108, $130), cheap CD/DVD player (Toshiba 3960, $50), and speakers (Polk R15s, $100/pair) which would still cost less and would easily deliver five times better sound.

Ah, form factor---yes that's about the only thing that this Cambridge and that Bose Wave has going for it: I suppose if you live in a tiny five by ten foot closet (a NYC apartment perhaps?) it might be useful to have something this small.

Otherwise you are much better buying one of those compact stereos and a cheap clock radio for your bedside, which would probably cost you about half as much for far better sound quality!

3-0 out of 5 stars Great sound, fantastic features, almost perfect
I purchased this radio and exchanged it twice before finally returning the unit.

The first unit kept bad time (2-3 minutes a week) and had a display that wouldn't dim. The dimming was fixable without exchange, but the time remained an issue, so I exchanged it.

The second unit wouldn't dim at night and kept me up. The time was fine. The dimming was not reparable so I exchanged it. New unit (side by side with old) dimmed much more and was great in that respect.

The third unit kept horrible time, litteraly lost 1 minute or more a day. I reset the clock a number of times over a month and compared to the BBC time tone (which my watch was always in sync) and it was consistently off by more than 7 minutes a week. This unit was manufactured in August of 2004.

I returned it because, for me, it was a clock radio and the clock part was important. I couldn't figure out why it kept poorer time than my $15 timex wristwatch.

    Great features:
    - For the two alarms, the mode, volume, and stations could be set independently and these did not depend on what the radio was set to last. So you could go to sleep at a low volume radio and wake up to a higher volume CD or a higher volume radio set to a different station.
    - Great sound.
    - Plays MP3's, has AUX jack
    - Adjustable sleep timer

It is doubly dissapointing because this is so close to being perfect, but three strikes and they're out.

By the way, customer service was always excelent and they bent over backwards to help me even after they knew I was reuturing the unit in the end.

1-0 out of 5 stars The Emperor's New Clothes
After reading so many comments about how great the Cambridge 740 sounds, I bought one.Well....it sounds lousy.I was appalled by it's sonic inferiority. My twenty-five year old Advent radio still sounds much, much better. The 740 sounded lousy in the Cambridge store, but I chalked that up to poor store acoustics. When I got it home, it sounded just as lousy. Don't be conned by all the advertising and published hype; this thing reproduces music very poorly. This expensive boom-box is an insult to anyone who has the slightest appreciation for audio fidelity. Moreover, the FM reception is unbelievably poor.In San Francisco, it receives about four stations. Many major stations don't come in at all.......incredible! If this junk is all that Cambridge can come up with, I will not be surprised if they're gone in a few years. Bad, bad product. You've been warned. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Best I've ever had
I've been in the broadcasting business for over 15 years and these are the best headphones I've ever used.It took some convincing to invest in them, since I usually bought cheaper headphones. But the cheap ones last a few months, and the Sony MDR-V6s last years. You won't be sorry with this headphones!

5-0 out of 5 stars Great for the true music and entertainment fan.
These headphones are the best deal for the price I have found. Not only do they sound great when listening to my favorite cds they also strenghten the entertainment value and sound quality of my DVD and video game collection. I usually plug these into my tv and listen to cds through my DVD player and the sound quality is very solid. The bass is satisrying without being too deep and the treble is crisp and clear. These are my favorites.

3-0 out of 5 stars Sony MDR-V600 does not equal MDR-V6
I reckon about half of these reviews were meant for the MDR-V6, based people's description. The MDR-V6 is the one that is comparable to the mdr-7506, NOT the v600. If it werent for the blue "professional" sticker on the mdr-7506, most people would never know the difference between it and the v6.

And for the record the MDR-v600 is much bigger and bulkier than both the V6 and the mdr-7502. While it uses similar drivers, It has a huge earcup and large foam paddings that color the sound. Most noticeable is overbearing amount of bass this thing gives out, which drowns out the mids. This would account for some of muddiness that other reviewers have described. So how this headphone got to be called studio monitors is beyond me. This headphone is more like a pair of v6 that was modified to meet the mainstream demands of bassheads. Whreas v6 was half metal/half plastic, the v600 is all plastic.

If you want accurate sound, stick with the tried and true Sony models such as the v6 or 7502. ... Read more

Okay. To answer your question: you're wrong. Cheaper is usually NOT better and, in the case of surge protection, it almost NEVER is (but something tells me you knew that, right?) While this product is, well, okay -- for the price -- do yourself a favor and spend a few more bucks for something more reliable (like Belkin's SurgeMaster, for example).Of course, you could really lay out some cash on a decent back-up/protection unit (think a couple hundred) but, at forty or fifty bucks, the Belkin should do fine.

1-0 out of 5 stars SM-BB8S doesn't protect and customer service is worse
I purchased a SM-BB8S after a lighting strike took out my modem, thinking I was now protected. On Dec9th we had a power disruption and energy surplus which the SM-BB8s did not stop. This resulted in over $600.00 damage to my computer and monitor. What makes this worse is Recoton/Acoustic Research/Thomson Inc. have lagged in the customer service dept. I've made 7 phone calls to the 1-800 number and sent one fax as required in 6 weeks and have NO reply other then "we're sory sir, but the claim is now in the Thomson legal dept." (they will not give out any information as how to contact the legal dept either). No one has ever called me back, no one has ever gave me more information, and every dead line as to when I will recieve a call or answer to my warrenty claim has passed.

Find a company who backs their product up with a real warrenty, and who doesn't play games with thier customer service. This company doesn't deserve your money.

This modem is a piece of crap.I have comcast as my ISP and with this modem, I have to reset the modem at least once everyday.I used to lease a sb5100 , had no such problems.I wouldn't recommend this modem to anyonem, get a sb5100.

4-0 out of 5 stars if the lights are on, the internet works
I got the BEFCMU10 solely because of the promotion going on when I was ready to switch to HSI.I've used it with three operating systems--Windows ME, Windows XP, and Slackware (linux).Installation was perfect on both XP and Slackware.ME gave me a bit of trouble with the driver (this is usual for my ME, at least--that's why I run Slackware on that machine now), but it wasn't too bad.Just walked through the driver installation process a couple of times and then it took.I've used it with the USB connection the most, simply because that's the cable I had handy when I was setting it up, but I've recently hooked it up via Ethernet, and it works fine, too.I haven't noticed any difference in speeds either up or down since changing to Ethernet. The modem's been reliable--the only connection problems I've ever had were my ISP's fault, not the equipment's.

5-0 out of 5 stars A GREAT PRODUCT!
I have an RCA cable modem with RCN as my ISP.A great service which I highly recommend. Needing to setup wireless at home, I bought the Linksys G-Router after purchasing an hp laptop. I got it to work with no problem but then I experienced frequent bandwidth loss and constant connectivity issues with the other pc's on my network.I wrongly thought that it was the router.Fool that I was! After countless attempts at recycling the modem and WPA keys etc., I finally figured out that the modem could not support the wireless router. I also discovered the modem had a short, plus RCA no longer carried it and the thing was ugly, taking up space.

I've since gotten the Linksys Modem (BEFCMU10) and stacked it with the WRT54G router and it works fantastic!!!Be sure to call your ISP with the modem's MAC address and/or serial# to get online.YOU WON'T get connected otherwise. My ISP had me up and running within 5 minutes. Also some ISP's give you a discount if you supply your own modem.Check it out. ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars No Suction....Whats the point vacuuming?
I have owned my Dirt Devil Vision for 2 years. As of just recently I have had nothing but problems with this machine!Just today the suction hose which wraps completely around the unit decided it had enough of my crap! Figuratively! Now with alot of animals and 3 kids making constant messes I no longer have a vacuum! I have encountered the same dilemmas with it as the others who have written reviews (the messy canister, the vacuum tipping over and 3 belts breaking). For the price of this vacuum it should be able to at least do what they say its capable of doing!

4-0 out of 5 stars Clean up quick, mostly.
Overall, I love this vacuum. It works well and gets great suction.I have even used it with carpet cleaners (spray-on foams) and gotten better-than-hoped-for results.

As to filtration, it does great.I think that the air coming out the discharge is fresher than the air in the room.

    So why not five stars?

-Balance:This vacuum has a hose attachment with all kinds of extras that is supposed to be able to reach up to 16 feet.It has a little hook on the hose that you attach to the vacuum base while using the hose. The problem I have found is that if I step away from the base to strech the hose, the tension on the hose causes the vacuum to fall over.In order to use the hose, I have to keep one hand on the base.So much for reaching 16 feet!

-Durability:Granted, vacuums were not intended for use on paperclips and pennies. However, this is one place where a bag-style vacuum has the advantage. My (former, non-wife) roommate vacuumed one day when I wasn't home.He sucked up a penny, which whipped around in the plastic container and broke a hole in it.You couldn't use the vacuum because it just spewed dust into the air.Replacing it was pricy (I think it was around fifty, but my roommate paid for it).

    *****Final Thoughts*****
This vacuum works well, and I would buy it again if I needed a new one!

Don't expect to use the hose much.

If you have kids, plan on getting a bag vacuum, because there's too much chance of picking up something that will break your vacuum canister.

1-0 out of 5 stars Poor design poor Customer Service
While this vacuum may have adequate suction it, like most Dirt Devil uprights, is very poorly designed. The biggest issue is the design of the handheld hose; it comes out the top of the unit so the vacuum constantly falls over when you try to use it mine finally broke.Checkout the owners manual, they have some kludgey way to loop the hose down and hook it to the base, as if that is practical. The lock that holds the vacuum upright wore out twice in four years, the beater brush wore out, the attachments are cheaply made.It does not work on bare floors and cannot even pick up a small piece of gravel due to the design of the brush/pickup.I contacted Dirt Devil about my problems and they said "we don't deal with problems, your only recourse is where you bought it". You may want to check out Bissel (they are inexpensive and they can't be worse). ... Read more
