4-0 out of 5 stars Good for the price
Works great to play MP3s from the computer to the stereo if the A/V line is plugged directly into the stereo. Not so great if you try to use the FM transmission on a boombox or radio.

5-0 out of 5 stars sweetsoundlink
just got this little toy and it performs exactly as advertised. it takes about 3 minutes to set up and then you are listening to music from your computer.sound quality is good;at least as good as fm ,maybe better. probably not good enough for a serious audiophile. sound is best when receiver is plugged into stereo receiver rather than on fm broadcast. this is a quick, simple and inexpensive($40.00)way to get that music out of your computer and put some serious wattage behind it.

1-0 out of 5 stars This thing Sucks
As my title states, this thing REALLY sucks. I tried every channel, and pressed scan..and everything..and it wouldn't lock on to the signal. Even when it was 5 feet away in the same room. The only thing it would pick up was a bunch of junk, and other peoples phone conversations.

And what did come through was all distorted...

Summary: NEVER buy this...in fact..call up US Robotics and ask them why they made such a horrible product. I bought this because i've had good experiences with USR before....oh well.
Piece of junk. ... Read more

Zojirushi NS-JCC18 Neuro Fuzzy 10-Cup Rice Cooker & Warmer
Average Customer Review: 5.0 out of 5 stars
Kitchen
list price: $239.99
US | Canada | United Kingdom | Germany | France

Editorial Review

The first electric rice cookers seemed miraculous--perfect rice in minutes with a minimum of fuss. Now, happily, the second generation is here. Equipped with a micro-computerized fuzzy logic temperature control system, Zojirushi's new rice cooker not only knows when rice is done, but cooks to different levels of doneness as well. Want softer rice for making croquettes or harder rice for fried rice? No problem. This 10-cup cooker also has controls for brown rice, white rice, porridge, or grits. You can even make one-dish meals like vegetable rice or jambalaya--the recipes are included. Best of all, the cooker keeps rice warm for a long time--up to 8 hours--without drying out. To save time, you can use the Quick Cook option. The nonstick inner cooking pan conveniently lifts out for adding ingredients, and the electric cord is retractable into the base. A large, easy-to-read LCD clock displays the current time as well as the time to completion so you always know when the rice will be done. --Marianne Painter ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Versatile for soft rices and meals, not for sticky rice
I actually have two of the Zojirushi Neuro Fuzzy rice cookers, including this 10-cup one (for family size and bulk meals) and the smaller 3-cup for cooking plain white rice for 1-4 people. Like the other reviews, this rice cooker makes long- and medium- grain rices perfectly. This includes arborio, jasmine, etc.

Some caveats to mention that were not in the other reviews:

- While there are many styles of making congee (rice porridge, jook, etc.,) this rice cooker makes the rice expand to soak up the water so that the result is not soupy, but rather has the consistency of say, grits. It doesn't make the rice creamy the way some restaurants do by adding starch. I personally like soupy and creamy styles. This one is somewhere in between.

- I tried cooking sticky rice, which is used in lotus leaf rice (zhong) or "lo mei gei." In order for this to work, the sweet rice grains must be soaked for several hours before cooking. This can be achieved by setting a timed cook, for example, putting the rice and water in the morning to be done cooking by evening. When I attempted to cook the sticky rice straight up without soaking first, I found that the center was still in kernels while the rice sticking to the edge were correctly cooked to a sticky consistency. (Even if you attempt to cycle through two or three times, this isn't going to work.) Also, I don't recommend cooking more than three cups of sticky rice at any given time. (I had tried 6 cups. It was a disastrous mess.)

Perhaps another reviewer can give better tips on cooking sticky rice in these rice cookers other than pre-soaking the rice.

- Last caveat: Keeping the rice pot in warming mode for more than an hour after cooking congee can erode some of the inner pot's non-stick finish on the bottom of the pot, but not much.

Just thought I would add some realities after I've had my rice cooker for two or three years. It really is a great rice cooker and I don't regret having purchased both sizes of them.

5-0 out of 5 stars A fun purchase and healthly too
If you look around you can find this great product at steep discounts. The 10 cup cooker is a time saver because one or two day old rice tastes just fine. My big surprise was how much I enjoy eating steel cut oatmeal. Much different then the quick Quaker oats. I followed one reviewer's suggestion and tried Stensels rice out of Louisana. The white popcorn rice is delightful. You can set the unit up to make your oatmeal the night before. The oatmeal will boil over [through the top vent] unless stirred during cooking, but it is easy to clean up. You will eat healthier food with this appliance.

5-0 out of 5 stars Absolutely the best!
A friend of mine got the Zojirushi rice cooker and highly recommended it to me.I bought one and LOVE it!It makes rice perfectly every time and is extremely easy to use.You can set it to cook the rice to be ready exactly when you want it to, it's easy to clean (I love anything that can go in the dishwasher!) and easy to store.I've since bought another one for another friend for Christmas, I would highly recommend this rice cooker to anyone.None of the others come close in quality! ... 4-0 out of 5 stars Works great with my Grundig
I'm not sure why this didn't work on the earlier reviewer's Grundig. I attached it to the antenna on my Grundig pocket radio and had great results, really strengthened the signal. This is pretty clearly a generic antenna that would work on most if not all radios. I'm very pleased with its performance. My only complaint is that the spool is cheap and difficult to rewind.

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent For Improving Weak Signals
This antenna is great for improving weak shortwave signals. It can make a faint signal listenable. As an example, listening to VOA on 17895 kHz from Botswana, with only my Grundig radio's whip antenna, I could not make much out. But with the ANT-60 the signal improved remarkably and I could copy enough to write a reception report, and received a QSL card from VOA verifying I'd heard their Botswana transmitter.
It will *not* do much to improve a fairly good signal, but definitely improves weaker ones. I recommend this antenna to anyone who wants to enhance their listening on portable shortwave radios.

1-0 out of 5 stars Grundig Radios Beware!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I purchased this for my Grundig shortwave radio, the antenna did virtually nothing on improving my (shortwave) reception. I'm assuming this product is for Sangean radios only. ... Read more

Editorial Review

Newly simplified for automotive applications, Garmin's portable StreetPilot 2610 features both a touchscreen and an alphanumeric remote control so you'll always have easy access to automatic route calculations, helpful turn-by-turn directions, and guiding voice prompts. The 2610 offers a color display, built-in maps, and everything you need to download additional map detail. It offers more precise location finding because of its WAAS technology, a feature the original StreetPilot and the StreetPilot III lacked.

All the travel information you need, right on your dash.
With its built-in photo sensor, the StreetPilot 2610's bright display automatically adjusts to outside light conditions. The unit is powered through either its external speaker (which comes with a handy 12/24-volt adapter cable) or its dedicated AC power adapter; both are supplied.

The unit's built-in routable basemap covers North and South America and contains a wealth of practical and nuanced data, including state and country boundaries, lakes, rivers, streams, airports, cities, towns, coastlines, state and interstate highways, local thoroughfares, secondary roads within metro areas, and interstate exit information for services such as gas, food, and lodging.

The 2610 accepts downloadable map detail from Garmin's PC-based MapSource City Navigator CD-ROM (included), which provides street-level detail, addresses, and listings of nearby restaurants, hotels, ATMs, and other attractions. (This feature requires a CompactFlash card, and a 128 MB CF card is included; you must first downloaded MapSource data in order to find points of interest and addresses.)

Hungry? Find out what's available around the bend.
The StreetPilot's integrated dash-mounting system fosters easy adjustment and quick release. The unit comes with a built-in patch antenna and an MCX-type connector for attachment to an optional external GPS antenna.

Garmin makes accessories to help you integrate your GPS unit with your life and your priorities. Keep it at the ready while protecting it from knocks and bumps with a carrying case that has space for your hookup cable and remote control. In the car, you'll appreciate the mounting options and clear reception afforded by the magnetic/suction-mount antenna that'll give you a better signal than if you just place your unit on the dash. Using your system in more than one vehicle? Garmin's dashmount is just the ticket, providing one temporary and one permanent adhesive mounting disc so you can move the unit between your cars.

What's in the Box
The StreetPilot 2610, the MapSource City Navigator 6 CD-ROM (full U.S. plus select Canadian coverage; unlock included), a 128 MB CompactFlash memory card, an integrated dash mount, a portable beanbag mount (friction mount), an external speaker with a 12/24-volt adapter cable, an AC power adapter, a PC/USB interface cable, an alphanumeric remote control, an owner's manual, a quick-reference guide, and a setup guide. ... 4-0 out of 5 stars GPS is good but strange things have been happening at Amazon
First of all the GPS is good. But strange things have been happening at Amazon.I wonder if any of you guys have the same experience.I have a habbit to place items of interest into the save-for-later shopping cart. That way I can easily add it to cart if and when I do decide to buy it, and it makes it easy to monitor the price. But in the last few months, after I placed an item into the save-for-later cart, next time I looked at it, the price of the item had been jacked up by 20-30%.I was really puzzled about the fact that they decided to raise the price after I expressed my interest. And this has happened at least 4 or 5 times in the last few months. It happened to some of the expensive items like this GPS, a Tag watch as well as a couple of inexpensive items.Of course, I didn't buy any of them with price increase. Then I would watch in amazement as the price slows come down as the days go by, eventually down to the same price as when I first placed it into cart.Is this a new marketing strategy at Amazon or am I being too cynical?

5-0 out of 5 stars Nice little Gadget
I purchased this GPS about 3-4 months ago and I am really pleased with it. It comes with all the stuff you need to get started. Installation was a breeze and in no time I was surfing around unknown towns without fear of getting lost. Upgraded to latest version of maps from the Garmin website and they are pretty good. Off course there are few glitches here and there but that true for any map. Overall accuracy is great though. All you might need extra is a bigger CF which is cheap these days. I have my state and neighbouring states in the 128 MB one which comes with the package and have not felt the need yet to get a bigger one. Maybe cross country drivers need it but for most people 128 MB CF is enough. I like this unit better than the 2620 even though 2620 is the later one. Both of these are essentially the same unit except 2620 comes with whole USA and Canada maps preloaded but is more expensive. I don't think this justifies the price difference between these 2 units. Overall I am a happy customer who loves this little gadget..

5-0 out of 5 stars A gas saver!!!!
I purchased this unit 5 months ago, and I am still very happy I did.
The computer interface was easy to navigate for the initial setup.Setting up waypoints and routes was fun, and all the addresses for my friends around this great country of ours are programmed, as well as routes from "home" to each.I was able to load all the maps around all the pre-selcted routes in a 250MB card. This feature is useful if you don't want to use up all the memory space with entire states, unless it's your home state, or the ones you visit the most.Either way, the preloaded maps are adequate for when you stray from the beaten path.As I enjoy exploring new towns, I can search for addresses, by zooming and pointing in the map (with the touchscreen interface, like a PDA), or by searching the internal database of points of interest by proximity. I'm able to sit in my car and look at what's around:restaurants, hotels, points of interest, museums, hospitals, etc.
I have no problems with the accuracy of positioning. The unit's WAAS is awesome, and it has never let me down.I am a music lover, and sometimes I can't hear the voice instructions.I keep the volume medium low, otherwise, it's annoying. You can push the "speak button" if you missed the last instructions, and you can see the distance to the next turn at any time on regular map view.I have learned to glance at the screen from time to time. The screen displays the name of the street for the next turn long before the voice prompt. This makes up for any short-fuzed announcement in busy streets without having to cut-in at the last minute. It also has a numerical view screen, which allows the unit to act almost like a digital speedometer.I find it fun, but since it takes a second or two to process the information, it seems to have a small mph discrepancy (2-5 mph under normal driving circumstances).
The biggest advantage I found with owning this unit is the tremendous amount of gasoline I have saved by quickly navigating around my own town after relocating.I enter the address of my destination, and shortly thereafter, I'm there! When I first moved here, I called my post office for direcctions to my nearest office.I made the 30 minute drive several times, until the Garmin maps revealed that there was one within 5 minutes from my house. It has a different zip code, which is why I was not informed initially.Tha't just an example of the utility of this small unit.
I don't leave it in the car, since it would be the only thing worth stealing from it!, so I bought a camera case that fits perfectly for only $8-10 at the electronics store.I leave the cables and beanbag stowed in a compartment in the car.
What I would like to see improved:wireless computer interface (it already has IR for the remote).A bigger included card (even if only 256MB).A sexy male voice option. :)
Even after my purchase, I have continued to explore what's out there, and i have not found a better option than this. It's amazing how much time and gas a person with poor sense of orientation like me can spend. This also makes a great gift for our real estate friends, and other roaming professionals.
As for me:I never leave home without it!. ... Read more
