5-0 out of 5 stars Reliable and Accurate
I've owned a Garmin eMap since December 2000.I have used it on four continents (Asia, North America, South America, and Europe) and in some of the South Pacific islands.I only use the European and US MetroGuide CD sets relying on the built-in world map for the rest of the world.Obviously I can get great detail in a good part of Europe and in the US, with very general information in Canada, Mexico and the rest of the world.I use the eMap when walking about, in cars and trains. The accuracy of marking trail heads, rail stations, hotels and other points I may need help returning to is excellent even without the MetroGuides. The eMap has never failed, never malfunctioned and has always been accurate.

I understand the eMap is no longer being manufactured but some are still in the supply chain.I am purchasing eMap accessories (data cards, cords, map CDs, etc.) while still available as I intend to continue using the e-Map for years more.I wish all the electro-techi stuff I buy worked as well as eMap does.Top ratings from me on the eMap.

1-0 out of 5 stars Poor Receive
Lowrance has a better GPS engine, and do to the fact that Garmin seems to sell maps that are out of sight in cost I use the I-finder, these maps are on a web site for the down loading. I have ran Lowrance and Garmin Side by Side and find the Lowrance will out do the Garmin by about 25 percent. The buy in cost is an issue when you do not have extra money to spend.

5-0 out of 5 stars Best bang for the buck.
I've been using an eMap since July 2000. This is one of four GPS receivers I own. The eMap was designed to be an alternative to paper map and has some really useful features without the fluff. No barometers, fishing & hunting times, calenders, tide charts, etc.
The display is relatively large and easy to see in a car.
The overall size and shape of the unit is very handy
    It will store 50 routes.
Memory cards are available from 8mb to 128mb. I use a 64mb and it holds a bunch.
The external antenna port allows for use when the unit can't "see" the sky. GPS receivers need a pretty open view in all directions to get a good fix. There are times when an antenna makes a big difference with any GPS receiver used in a car.
This unit has waypoint averaging which allows for more accurate waypoint positioning, if you need it.
With Metroguide software installed, it has an option on the map screen called "SHOW NEXT STREET". This feature shows the next street on the map as you approach it. This little goodie is worth the price of admission.
The Trip computer function is great on a trip.
Sunrise & set, Moonrise & set as well as Moon phase are available for any location & date.
The base map data that is in the unit shows principal roads, rivers, lakes, cities and towns. This level of map info is probably enough for some users.
The latest Metroguide USA mapping software may not be perfect, but has been reviewed as the most up to date mapping software available for this type of receiver. All maps go out of date eventually and there are streets in my town that are not on the GPS. But this is supposed to be the most current right now. The new Metroguide has "auto-routing" and is easy to learn and use. We have have created routes on our computer and then "loaded" them into eMap. Loading the routes take seconds. We have done whole vacations this way, and it is pretty cool not to miss turns anymore.
With Metroguide you can look up addresses, intersections and a wide range of "Point of Interest". Eleven categories are in the Point of Interest menu. This is a very comprehensive search function.
There are other mapping software packages available, including Topographical, Roads & Recreation, but Metroguide has more features than the others.
Garmin has software updates available on their website for eMap & Mapsource Software. The current(12/02) version of eMap is 2.75 and 4.10 for Mapsource.
There are cigarette lighter cords and a couple of different mounting options available as well as a bunch of other accessories.
    On the downside
The unit is water resistant, not waterproof. (Don't drop it overboard)
The case is not as "armored" as some other Garmin units.
    The basemap is not upgradeable.
This GPS doesn't have WAAS. (I have WAAS in two other units and it isn't as wonderful as advertised. Standard GPS accuracy is plenty for general use.)

All in all, eMap has more going for it than anything else I've seen FOR THE MONEY. For me, it fulfills its intended role as an electronic map better than two more expensive units (Garmin Vista and GPSmap 168) I own. Highly recommended!! ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars I only wish it had more detail...
I find that reading Tom Brown books can be quite aggravating. He goes into a lot of spiritual mumbo jumbo and does not lay things out in a clear and sophisticated way. Also, the diagrams in his books are quite awful. His plant guides are a good start, but they have no good pictures and can be outdone by most other plant books. This is a good book to check out and read a bit to introduce yourself to concepts, but you should go to his school or find a teacher to really learn the stuff.I respect Tom Brown and I believe he is the leader of the "new" tracking society, but I just wish his guides weren't so pathetic.I really like John Young's instructions, he seems like a clearer speaker and educator.Tom Brown's books aren't quite that good, but he has built a fairly extensive base of books for the beginner to start the journey of tracking. The worst example of his instructions are on how to cook water; he seems to recommend killing a deer for its stomach.Just use a flippin' cookpot, man!And also ignore the part about making bows in this books, the Bowyers Bible series is the definitive source for that knowledge. If you just want a bunch of old man stories, by all means get this.

5-0 out of 5 stars Place to begin
This book can serve as a starting point to help learn about the essentials to survive with nature.
It is a realistic approach, with real skills.
Lots of ideas of ways to secure fire, shelter, water and food using your own wits and skills. I use it as reference.
Learning about the skills and knowledge is the first step before going out and doing it!

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent Book
This book is great. It is met to be a teaching guide, get it and do the exercises that are in the book and you will learn a lot. This book is loaded with information, I recommend all his books, get Tom Brown' Field Guide to Nature Observation with this one too. ... Read more

    Uniden BC245XLT Handheld Scanner

    list price: $249.99
US | Canada | United Kingdom | Germany | France

    Editorial Review

Uniden takes scanning to a new level with the hand-held Bearcat 245XLT. This powerful scanner is about the size of a cell phone and has a detachable antenna, making it great for travel and car use. Plus, the 245XLT can scan the standard 29 MHz to 956 MHz frequencies, now including Motorola and EDACS trunked system.

Uniden's integrated SmartScanner technology makes it easy to get the245XLT up and running. SmartScanner automatically scans the nearest 300 frequencies within a given zip code. To set this up, you need to connect the scanner to your PC using the included adapter and connect to the SmartScan database. However, because you are connecting to a 1-900 number, there is a 99-cent-per-minute charge for this service--so be careful how much time you spend downloading frequencies.

You can also track multiple trunked and conventional channels at the same time, scan trunked frequencies, and apply a five-second trunk delay so you can hear both sides of the conversation when the trunked frequencies change. --L.E. Klein ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars Do some research first before buying
I'm a newbie scanner and was looking for a good, all round scanner. I knew most of the bigger systems out there are using the "Trunk Tracking" technology, so decieded to buy a scanner that could track those systems (duh). After programming the freqs into the scanner banks (daunting at first but once you do the first couple it's pretty easy and quick) I was surprised by how 'quiet' certain airways were. After a little research I discovered that some of the larger agencies systems are actually DIGITAL, and this scanner can not listen into them. That was a little annoying. Uniden now have Digital scanners and Trunk Tracking III capability, so if your area is digital (check before you buy) then you might be better holding off for the newer generation scanner. Apart from that little snafu I am very happy with the product overall and have enjoyed several hours of listening to airport and other frequencies. Wish it could monitor FM and TV audio (I have a radio-reciever, yet can't listen to local radio broadcasts on it, seems a bit weird). There is a gap in coverage between 512 - 805 MHz for some reason, so I miss some airport tower chat. Not a huge deal. In summary, ignore some of the hype that it has Trunk Tracking II capabilities, if your area is digital, it makes no difference. I'll probably wait until the prices come down to a sensible level and get a digital & analog system. Happy Listening.

I have always had a curiosity about "scanners", but never quite curious enough to buy one.I received a rather generous gift certificate for Christmas this year and decided to get something I might not ordinarily buy.I chose this particular Uniden, Bearctcat, Scanner. As stated in another review, to the beginner, the "art of scanning", can seem a little overwhelming.Rest assured, any effort exerted in learning how to use this scanner will pay off with many hours of listening enjoyment. My Bearcat II has been rock solid thus far and is for all intents and purposes a quality, user- friendly product. The manual refers to "third party software" that allegedly allows you to program your scanner using your PC.This software is quite pricey though.I would recommend spending some time learning your new scanner and determine how much you care to invest in this hobby before spending another 40.00 to 70.00 on software. Some of my friends who initially scoffed at my scanner purchase were quite shocked by the amount of information available via the airwaves.Several have now purchased one.I live in a Major City and continue to be amazed by the well-choreographed"dance" between dispatcher and L.E.O.I worked for a very tight knit S.O. for well over a decade, and as a natural consequence, I understand the terminology. A novice will want to pull many of the codes from the Internet and either learn them or have them easily available for reference.I hope you enjoy yours as much as I enjoy mine!?

4-0 out of 5 stars Not Bad
Not bad, you can use it as hunting gadget, or if you are on a searching crew this will come in handy. Slip it into your eyes and your sight will increase greatly. Not bad for the price although it could be better. If you are an expert in hunting, or your out looking for something this is not the best option, but one of the bests. If you just like to go around able to see on dark this is more than enough. Hope you found this helpfull.

4-0 out of 5 stars A bit older model, not latest generation, but still ok.
This is an older, Russian-Made version of the US Military version. It is higher quality first generation night vision, but lacks the clarity of the new 2nd and 3rd generation units, but for it's price, is NOT a bad deal at all. For 3rd generation, be prepared to fork out 10 times this price.
I also suggest placing a piece of black electrical tape or something similar over the ir source since it is red and can be seen for some distance, and get the ramsey kit IR-1 which can be found here on Amazon. It requires a small 12 volt source, but be creative, I use one of those fanypack 12 volt kits that will power the IR-1 for a long time, and used 2-way adhesive squares to attach it to the IR Goggles frame. It is like having a huge invisible (to the naked eye), spotlight, and increases the range and visibility over 100 times than the internal visible light source.

    Hope this helps.

    Panasonic DVD-LV75 Portable DVD Player
Average Customer Review: 5.0 out of 5 stars
    Electronics

US | Canada | United Kingdom | Germany | France

    Editorial Review

With its sleek, lightweight design and impressive build quality, Panasonic's DVD-L75 portable DVD player belongs in first class. The 7-inch-diagonal LCD screen is capable of displaying a very good picture, and the player attaches to an extremely robust battery pack rated at up to four hours, according to Panasonic. The DVD-LV75 also has built-in Dolby Digital and DTS decoding and comes with a miniature remote control.

Without the battery pack, the DVD-LV75 measures a mere 1 inch thick. The rectangular screen lifts open with the slide of a switch, revealing an LCD panel flanked by two tiny speakers. As with all the other portable DVD players we've tested, however, the speakers are fairly inadequate. A good pair of headphones is definitely a worthwhile investment, since portable DVD players don't really lend themselves to an audience of more than one.

The silver top panel contains a somewhat sparse array of control buttons, including the one flaw we found with this player: an awkward, thumb-size navigation tool that pivots left and right, up and down. Fortunately, a cool, mini remote control is also included for easy, alternate access to the onscreen menus and audio and video parameters set-up.

Other top-panel controls enable you to activate the virtual surround sound mode, player menu, DVD menu, and display, which give you on, stop, and pause buttons, plus skip buttons, which double as fast-forward and reverse controls by holding them down. Overall, we found these primary function buttons to be rather unintuitive; when you hold down the skip buttons to go back or forward, it's difficult to stop the DVD on the scene you want. However, Panasonic does provide a nifty, speed-adjustable onscreen scroll icon, similar to a jog shuttle, that makes it very easy to locate a specific scene.

The top panel includes a monitor button that changes the screen aspect ratios from standard 4:3 to 16:9 widescreen or 4:3 letterbox. The DVD-LV75 also enables you to adjust both brightness and color to five different levels. Other players we've tested allow greater control over picture settings, such as sharpness, tint, and color. The DVD-LV75's inability to do so renders a picture that leans from one extreme to the other--from overly bright and red to dull and gray. With brightness and color set between 2 and 3, however, we found the picture to be clear, if a little subdued.

That said, the DVD-LV75 produces a remarkably satisfying picture even in a well lit room. On airplanes, with the lights dimmed, this player will earn bonus points for picture quality.

The model we tested had virtually no dead pixels or manufacturing anomalies. The off-axis viewing angle was good, though not quite as impressive as Sharp's 7-inch model. Flesh tones on the Panasonic were natural, if a little anemic. Grays were convincingly realistic but slightly on the blue side. Overall, we found the picture to be rather one-dimensional, demonstrating a fondness for greens, yellows, and brown, while revealing an inability to reproduce convincing skin tones. In terms of overall picture quality, on a scale of one to five--with the Sharp MovieGoer receiving a five, and Pioneer's 7-inch model getting a 2.5--we're inclined to give Panasonic's DVD-LV75 a four.

The battery pack is smaller than a DVD case and snaps into place with ease. We were able to watch an entire movie and The Eagles' Hell Freezes Over DVD without using the AC/DC adapter. Before it began to wane, a low-battery indicator appeared on the top-panel display. The built-in recharger takes about 4.5 hours to rejuice the lithium-ion battery. Overall, this is the most impressive battery combination we've seen among today's 7-inch portable DVD players. It's smaller, lighter, and more robust than others we've tested.

The diminutive DVD-LV75 is by far the most versatile portable player we've seen. It has built-in Dolby Digital and DTS decoders, so you can use it as a stand-alone player with your big-screen home theater system even if you don't own a receiver with built-in 5.1-channel processing. That's very cool. Since the DVD-LV75 also plays music CDs, you can use it as a portable or stand-alone CD player as well.

With its excellent design, flawless LCD panel, above average picture, and built-in digital audio decoders, we can safely declare that this is one of the best DVD players on the market. --Eric Gill

5-0 out of 5 stars WOW!!! BEST PURCHASE I HAVE EVER MADE!!!!
I just bought this thing from Amazon and all I can say is WOW!!!!

This is probably the best purchase I have ever made. This thing is everything I ever expected and more!! It's easy to use as well - even my wife can operate it!

I have to say, everyone out there who is thinking of buying this, stop thinking. I bought it and I am extremely happy with it the moment I powered this thing on. YOU ABSOLUTELY POSITIVELY CANNOT GO WRONG WITH THIS PURCHASE! I GUARANTEE IT!!!

2-0 out of 5 stars Disappointed
After reading the reviews and doing my own research on the LV75, I thought i was in for a good buy considering the price.
All went well the first two weeks until the player started hanging and failing to read disks.I had only watched around six DVD's and had not even charged the battery once since i was running it through the mains.
It would literaly say reading and would not pick up the disk for up to half an hour when i eventualy tried to turn it off and it would not even do that, it just hung. I thought perhaps it would just be a once off failure but then it started happening regularly, so i took it back to Panasonic and am currently waiting for a decision regarding an exchange.
I must say for the first six DVD's I was able to watch, it was brilliant!!, Maybe i just bought a Dud, lets see if Panasonic comes through or not!!

5-0 out of 5 stars No regrets.

Bottom line. I went shopping for one of these for about a month before I finally got the LV-75 and as soon as I got it, I had to really see if all the stuff I read on this board had any validity. Here are my results.

    1) BATTERY TIME
2 tests. Fully charged overnight each time, brightness set to "0" (goes from -5 to 5), using headphones ONLY:
    Test 1 --> 4h:55min + 18 seconds
    Test 2 --> 4h:50min + 44 seconds

(each test had about 5 min worth of fast-forwarding, change out disks.etc...Have yet to test the entire time with speakers on and I'm guessing that these results would drop dramatically.)

    2) PICTURE QUALITY
(Using about 8 different movies, being viewed from 3 feet away) Sharpness: Over-all, pretty good. Could clearly see pixels but stopped noticing them after about 10 mins. Doesn't match my regular flatscreen but hey, I can't really take a 27' Sony VEGA on a flight so I'm not complaining.
Color reproduction: Trying out all the color settings, I found that I couldn't get truly good skin reproduction without over bleeding the screen. Cooler colors such as blues and greens came out better than my regular TV. I also checked for broken pixels and didn't find one. Overall, the picture is above average to very good.

    3) SOUND
Best ever micro speakers I've ever heard were from my Thinkpad. Bass was non-existent but overall sound was great. The LV75 comes very close to that performance. The area where the LV75 blows away my Thinkpad is that it decodes 5.1 DTS and mixes it into my 2 channel headphones. Even though it's two channels, it still sounds awesome compared to regular 5.1 digital surround. (Try watching Gladiator DTS/ES which decodes 6 channels)

    4) EQUIPMENT
If you were thinking about getting this player instead of a regular rack player, think again. I use an optical out on my regular DVD and expected to just plug my Toslink into the LV75. I was rejected! You need to buy a Miniplug-to-Toslink cable that is not provided to get the optical feed. If you still want 5.1 digital surround, you need to buy 2 more Miniplug-to-RCA cables (they provide you with one, which alone will give you 2 channel stereo). The S-video works, but I don't really use it so I don't know if it will give you 5.1, but if it does, you won't have to go shopping again.

    5) OVERHEATING
The unit does get very hot when you are using it without the battery. (the battery sits on the bottom and insulates the heat from your lap!) With the battery, non-existent. The battery on mine NEVER got warm enough to even notice. I watched half of Almost Famous laying down in bed with the unit sitting on my bare chest and I didn't feel a thing.

    6) ACTUAL SIZE
The pictures show you this thin little unit, when folded, will be about an inch thick. This is without the battery. With the battery, it gets about a pound heavier and 1.5" (I know that it isn't much, but considering it was just an inch before, that's a 50% increase).

    7) EXTRA BATTERIES
I have yet been able to locate on my manual where shows me how to order extra batteries, I can't really say, but I [found it] on the panasonic website [...]

    OVERALL VERDICT
Not regretting my purchase in the slightest. This is one of the coolest things I've bought, ever... and it makes me smile just looking at it.

Last suggestions: Buy the 7 inch instead of the 5. Get a good pair of headphones.

The biggest thing on your mind while watching this unit is TIME--> how much of it you have left. [...] I on last biz trip to NY, I was sitting in a rear exit row with about 3' of leg room in front of me with my LV-75 sitting on my lap... and everytime someone passed me to use the bathroom, all I could feel were the "jealous eyes."I don't have to say that this thing cuts flight times in half.

-----> If you can't afford it, don't buy it because you won't use it often, but if you travel... don't leave home without it. ... Read more

    Editorial Review

Do you know anyone who hasn't seen this movie? A box-office smash when released in 1993, this spectacular update of the popular 1960s TV series stars Harrison Ford as a surgeon wrongly accused of the murder of his wife.He escapes from a prison transport bus (in one of the most spectacular stunt-action sequences ever filmed) and embarks on a frantic quest for the true killer's identity, while a tenacious U.S. marshal (Tommy Lee Jones, in an Oscar-winning role) remains hot on his trail. Director Andrew Davis hit the big time with this expert display of polished style and escalating suspense, but it's the antagonistic chemistry between Jones and Ford that keeps this thriller cooking to the very end. In roles that seem custom-fit to their screen personas, the two stars maintain a sharply human focus to the grand-scale manhunt, and the intelligent screenplay never resorts to convenient escapes or narrative shortcuts. Equally effective as a thriller and a character study, this is a Hollywood blockbuster that truly deserves its ongoing popularity. --Jeff Shannon ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars The Fugitive (Special Edition DVD)
One of the best movies of the 90's and of all-time!

Harrison Ford and Tommy Lee Jones give the best performances of their careers!Breathtaking action scenes and an excellent story line make The Fugitive (Special Edition) a must have for your collection!

5-0 out of 5 stars On The Edge Of Your Seat Suspense
Andrew Davis' excellent adaptation of the 1960s mini-series of the same name in which a wrongly accused man becomes both a fugitive from justice and an avenger for the murder of his wife by the one-armed man.

Harrison Ford is Dr. Richard Kimble, a doctor in Chicago wrongfully found guilty of killing his wife.No one believes his claim of a one-armed man and he escapes hoping to later prove his innocence by finding this unique killer.Tommy Lee Jones plays the equally determined U.S. Marshall Sam Gerard who, although he sympathizes with Kimble, is not about to let someone escape under his watch.

The film is a series of non-stop action sequences keeping the audience in awe and in suspense.Excellent direction and impeccable acting makes this film a treasure to own in your collection. Both Ford and Jones did an outstanding job in this film and the action sequences are brilliant.Don't let this fast-paced suspense thriller escape your DVD player!

5-0 out of 5 stars Awesome good fun
Unlike the spinoff of U.S Marshal's the fugitive manages to enthrall us without seeming old or even having a plot being redone. Tommy Lee Jones and Harrison Ford are so good in their respective parts that they have cheering for both sides as the film progresses.

Definate Popcorn movie and anything else you feel compelled to eat while watching this.

    Enjoy. ... Read more

    Editorial Review

Johnny Cash had been breaking new ground for a decade when At Folsom Prison suddenly made the world at large take notice. The interaction of a volatile prison population starved for entertainment and a desperately on-form Johnny Cash was electrifying. His somber machismo finally found a home. The songs, which included every prison song Cash knew ("I Got Stripes," "The Wall," "25 Minutes to Go," "Cocaine Blues," plus his own "Folsom Prison Blues") were tailored to galvanize the crowd. This set is all about atmosphere. Live at the Grand Ole Opry this ain't. The 1999 version drops the San Quentin portion of the original CD reissue, instead adding three cuts to complete the full and uncensored Folsom show. --Colin Escott ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars The Voice of God
When I hear Cash, I think that must be what God sounds like. From the second he comes on stage and says, "Hello, I'm Johnny Cash," you think you are listening to a higher power.Cash sounds like he is a Giant on this CD.He picked a great song selection, playing tracks that match the venue, and not just playing his hit songs.Except track 12, which is kind of hurting. He has every prisoner in the palm of his hand, and truely sounds like he is one of them.Along with "Cash at S.Q. Prison," i would say that this is the greatest live album of all time.

    5-0 out of 5 stars A music milestone..period
Someone once noted that had Cash told the prisoners to revolt...so tightly was the inmate audience in his sway...the guards wouldn't stand a chance. Cash and the band lay into these songs as though the sheer energy of the performance could shatter those Folsom prison walls.

Maybe it didn't happen physically, but emotionally, it did. Cash used the scrapes he'd had occasionally with the law to connect with the inmates...he was "one of them".

    HIGHLIGHTS:
This album is so perfectly attuned to the prisoner's experience (songs about loneliness, sorrow over the mistakes that have have put him in jail, missing loved ones, plans to break free) that singling out specific tunes for accolades seems a downright cynical act. Perhaps the highest praise I can offer is that "Joe Bean" (a 20 year old man who admits he's murdered people but feels wronged because the one he's been sentenced to death for isn't one he committed) is one of the best tunes included here...and it wasn't deemed good enough at the time to even be ON the original album. That's the level of quality you're talking about here. (Imagine if "She's Leaving Home" was an outtake from "Sgt. Pepper" for an analogy.)

    LOWS:
The only really low spot for me is "Flushed from the Bathroom of your Heart" (with a willfully awful lyric filled with terrible metaphors) but it's surrounded by material so strong, I end up forgiving Cash for its inclusion. I'm sure he used it because it would help give the prisoners a laugh (which it did) but I can't say it does that for me. Still, the material surrounding it is so strong, I'll forgive Cash for the minor misstep.

    BOTTOM LINE:
This is a gripping hour. With the opening notes of "Folsom Prison Blues" You feel the way it must feel to be locked away and forgotten by society, listening as the train rolls by your cell window...knowing that they "keep on movin'" while you stay and rot. Cash takes you on a rollercoaster ride from those pits of despair all the way through to the inner freedom found only in the "Greystone Chapel" (that song penned by an actual Folsom inmate). You even file out the "side door" along with the prisoners themselves at the end. EVERY music listener should own this.

5-0 out of 5 stars incredible!
the level of intensity in this cd is just monumental.Cash's deep baritone is the best element of the music, making it connect with the listener in a deep way.My favorite song is "greystone chapel," deep and hopeful and probably the best representation of what this cd is all about. This is Cash's defining moment arguably, and is an essential in any collection, especially for fans of country music.Even if you have an aversion to country music you should check this out; it is so much better and really raw and rocking compared to modern day country (which is a joke)! ... Editorial Review

The propane Coleman party grill is easy to carry, easy to assemble, and most importantly, easy to use. If you're searching for a reliable, portable grill for tailgate parties, fishing trips, or quick backyard barbecues, don't overlook this Coleman. Besides grilling burgers, the Coleman party grill is also great for boiling: simply remove the nonstick grill and place your pot of water (or soup or veggies) on the grate to boil. Then replace the grill to prepare burgers, chicken, or even salmon. A small section of the grill is solid and flat for use as a griddle: cook morning eggs or thin slices of meat such as bacon or fish. The cooking speed is greatest in the center of the grill and slower toward the edges.

Detailed instructions are included, but the whole grill can be assembled in less than 10 minutes, and no tools are required. Connecting the propane cylinder (sold separately) is simple: remove the plastic cap from the top of the cylinder, and screw the cylinder into the regulator. To prepare a feast, fill the steel bowl with water, open the burner valve, push a button, and a small spark will ignite the burner. Adjust the button for desired heat. Every part of the Coleman party grill is dishwasher-safe except the burner assembly, and a blue plastic lid can be used to steady your grill on soft surfaces like sand and also protects your grill while on the road. Our only suggestion is this: once you get the grill in place, leave it there--the removable legs can fall out if you're moving the grill from place to place. Limited warranty. --Rhonda Langdon ... 2-0 out of 5 stars not bad as a portable stove
I found the grill top to be a waste of time, too hot in the middle and too cold on the edges. As a stove top with a pot or a pan this can't be beat.It heats up easy and quick.Overall, not bad for camping or fishing, but it has limited uses.

4-0 out of 5 stars Handy Dandy
I bought this grill for my brother who travels about alot and camps usually out of the back of his truck.. He likes unusual things and this fit the bill.He did loose his brats once, they rolled off. Fortunately, he was at home in his drive way at the time!! He really likes this grill for it's packability and ease of use and clean up.

4-0 out of 5 stars Grill or Griddle??
According to the folder you can use it either as an open grill or with the upper griddle. You don't really need the griddle most of the time and you're better off with just the open grill (It's also easier to clean up afterwards.) However, you should definitely use the water pan for a better heat distribution and again-easier to clean. The griddle is nice if want to do eggs, bacon, fish, etc. but it should be considered as an accessory and not part of the main deal. So if you're travelling-leave the griddle at home-it's much lighter and easier. But it's still there if you need it and could come in handy (some of the time). ... Read more
