    Editorial Review

Portable and easy to install, this electric unit converts a bathtub into a whirlpool spa for heavenly relief from stress. Two powerful jets shoot air into the water, and a control dial permits a bather to vary the whirlpool action from a powerful stream to gentle bubbles. With an adjustable bracket, the unit fits on the rim of any standard-size bathtub; two large suction cups hold it securely in place. For safety, the unit comes with an ALCI (Appliance Leakage Circuit Interrupter) power pack that prevents the unit from operating under potentially dangerous conditions, such as being immersed in water for more than a few seconds. The unit's long power cord plugs into the ALCI power pack, and the power pack's long cord plugs into a wall socket. The whirlpool comes with a two-year warranty against defects. --Fred Brack ... 4-0 out of 5 stars Pretty good little spa
This little...spa wont replace an $[money] jacuzzi with 25 jets.Dont kid yourself. You've got 2 nozzles which can either shoot bubbly water or straight water. The bubbles are good, but I think my tub may be too small and poorly designed to have much use for the bubbles, but they are powerful enough to give a nice little massage to my legs. Also on about 60% of bathtub/shower combinations, you'll be mounting this little beauty on the side of your tub so yes, only one side of your body will get massaged at once... DUH!I dont like bubblemats because they blow cold air where cold air just shouldnt go.And you cant beat the price! The filter does tend to clog a lot though if you do what I do and shave your legs in the tub and use the jets to clean your razor(works really good for that!).Also the plug if you're not careful you'll trip its circuitbreaker and will be meandering about your bathroom nude wondering why your spa isnt working.I cant say anything bad about this little spa.Its powerful enough for my tub, it gives a nice light relaxing foot or leg massage if I position myself right, and its not terribly noisy like my previous bubblemat was (how relaxing is something that sounds like a jackhammer!)Just a nice delicate hum that wont overpower other sounds in your bathroom.

1-0 out of 5 stars Pathetic excuse for a jacuzzi
I am very disappointed with this product. The suction cups do not hold and the bubbling action is non-existent. You might as well break wind in the water and save yourself 40 bucks.DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT!!!!

3-0 out of 5 stars Okay for the money...
This is a somewhat better product than HoMedics Bath Spa Mat.Unfortunately, the water jet is not powerful enough.Even though it circulates enough water, but it's just no enough to be relaxing or have any kind of massage effect. One other thing, if you mount it on the side of your tub, you will get jet shoting at one side of your body, but have absolutely no affect on the other side.Perhaps, mounting at the end of the tub, where your feet are, might be a better idea. Also, for most of us that have a sliding door for the shower, this puppy is difficult to mount, it is not design with the consideration of sliding door guide rail. ... 4-0 out of 5 stars My Handy Dandy Spa Party Reference
I recently threw a Spa Bachelorette Party for a dear friend and made four recipes (Cleansing Oatmeal & Honey Paste, Pineapple & Olive Oil Mask, Lemon Mint Toner, Avocado Hand Rub) from this book.Though some ingredients were harder to find than others (such as lanolin) the benefits were amazing. We went out dancing after our pampering and even with all of the sweating, my skin still felt great! And the next day, after a night of partying, my husband commented that my skin had a nice glow:) I may just throw away my over the counter cleansers.

The Good:The recipes I used worked! I like the shape and the size of the book as it was compact and didn't get in the way of making recipes (though I had to keep the book open with a paperweight) or shopping for ingredients (imagine lugging a coffee sized book to the health food store!)

The Bad: Since I was preparing for a spa party, I wish that a "final servings yielded" were provided. Also, length of storage information would be very helpful.Lastly, I wish there were more spa cuisine recipes included, especially ones that use the same ingredients as the treatments! I ended up looking elsewhere for meal ideas to use my leftover food ingredients.

Lastly, keep in mind that this was my first home spa experience.I've never tried recipes from other home spa books, and I've yet to try the body and hair treatments from this book.

3-0 out of 5 stars a nice supplement
this book provides nice little things that you can do yourself when you have alot of time and no cash to spend on spa treatments. . .a nice holiday gift though. . .

3-0 out of 5 stars Useful information for home spa treatments
This book was useful in some ways, dissapointing in others. As a previous reviewer pointed out, many of the ingredients that the recipes called for were not common household items. However, the instructions in this book are clear and concise and I particularly liked the description of all those various aromatherpay oils and what they do.I think I was expecting this book to be a little larger in size, more like something nice I could stick out on my coffee table. It does have a very good variety of various treatments for different hair and skin types.I think something like this would appeal to someone who is more of a "do-it-yourself"-er.It is interesting for me to learn about what would go into a lotion, but hard to picture myself actually assembling all the ingredients to make all these things when I could buy the equivalent at the drugstore. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Fire from Lindholm
This set contains four records with two abridged live performances. I have as yet only listened to the performance from 1974. This is one of the first pirated records to appear with the Swedish dramatic soprano Berit Lindholm. Let us hope that recordings from the Ring conducted by Sir Colin Davis at Covent Garden will appear soon! Meanwhile this Tristan from Amsterdam 1974 fills the gap with a truly amazing dramatic force. You can feel the amazement and tension among the public, crying out their "bravos" at the end. This is Lindholm's evening and a great one ideed. Totally involved in her part she becomes Isolde and everything catch fire... No Wagnerian or other opera lover can be without these records. The first two CD's concentrates on the part of Isolde (1974).The performance from 1979 (not with Lindholm)concentrates on the tenor, Spas Wenkoff - more comments will follow when I have listened to that. For the moment, the 5 stars are for the 1974 recording. ... Read more

HoMedics BMAT-2 Bubble Spa Bath Mat Massager with Remote Control
Average Customer Review: 2.5 out of 5 stars
    Health and Beauty
    list price: $170.00

    Editorial Review

Fit this soft mat into any bathtub, run the flexible hose from the control unit into the water, and the tub instantly becomes a bubble massage spa. The 47-by-14-inch mat adheres firmly to the tub with suction cups and fills with air to cushion the body. The 8-foot hose, which also attaches to the tub with a suction cup, delivers bubbles on command. Using either the LED-illuminated touch pad on the control unit or the non-LED remote control, select the massage duration (15, 30, or 60 minutes), the massage strength (high, medium, or low), the bubble speed (high, medium, or low), and either steady bubbles or one of three variable bubble patterns. The water-resistant remote control operates with batteries (not included) and fits into a holder that adheres to wall or tub with a suction cup. The control unit's power cord measures 80 inches. The spa carries a two-year warranty against defects. --Fred Brack ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars I love mine!
I have no difficulty with the suction cups adhering to the tub and, in fact, when not in use, I use them to hang the mat up on the tile tub wall, rinse it down with the shower massage and let it drain off and then hange there for storage--The motor unit on mine is small enough that it stashes neatly behind the commode with the hose reaching into the tub, which is right beside it--With a good extention cord and the handy-dandy remote control, this storage method makes it so this appliance takes virtually no space at all in the bathroom and doesn't need to be gotten out and put away for use--Very convenient!!--

While it is somewhat noisy, I don't find it to be any moreso than the motor on any other kind of a bath massage, including the expensive jacuzzis--I like to sit in the tub and kind of blot-out the rest of the world, so I leave the room lights off and put on one of those small, battery-powered tap lights just around the corner from the tub so the light in the room is very soft and soothing and the noise from the motor unit masks any other household noises--Frankly, after a few minutes, it doesn't bother me at all--

Because the mat is pumping room air into the bath water, it does tend to cool off, but I start out with pretty hot water to begin with and it doesn't cool down too much unless I stay in the tub with it running for more than 20 minutes or so--

Frankly, my bubblespa is the most relaxing thing that I do for myself on a regular basis--Come to think of it, I think I'll go relax with it now!!

3-0 out of 5 stars Great for a bird bath.
I've had this spa mat for two years now and not only is it loud, but the bubbles are way too strong for relaxing (even on the low setting). Your limbs get knocked all over the place and, if you attempt to read a book with it on, it will certainly get wet. I was planning on returning it until I discovered my parrot absolutely loves it and constantly attempts to visit her 'friend' in the bathroom. Her favorite activity is to sit on my shoulder with hardly any water in the tub (since she's clumsy) and this thing going on full blast, sounds pretty fun right? So although I would probably only give it two stars, it gets an extra one just for the sheer bath-time listening pleasure it provides for birds. (If I may have seriously sold you on this for your parrot, make sure you get the one without heat, no reason to take the chance of Teflon on the poor creatures- mine is the older version). Also, the mat is hard to clean if it's not kept meticulously dry.

2-0 out of 5 stars Too loud and floated in tub rather than stuck to bottom
I bought this product because I love spas and I figured it was an affordable alternative. It worked for the most part, but it shot cold bubbles and did not stick to the bottom of my tub.It will only stick if you have an old timey porcelan tub, if there are any grooves to prevent you from slipping, it will not stick and will float to the top.I was trying to enjoy my spa experience, but had limbs everywhere trying to hold it down and meanwhile my water was getting cold.I did not think it was worth the money. It was a good idea, I just wish they could make it work better. ... Timex T600B CD Stereo Clock Radio with Nature Sounds (Black)
Average Customer Review: 2.5 out of 5 stars
    Electronics
    list price: $129.99
US | Canada | United Kingdom | Germany | France

    Editorial Review

Small yet robust, the Timex T600B is no ordinary clock radio. With a CDplayer, an 18-preset digital tuner, stereo speakers, four "nature" soundsamples, and three separate alarms, the T600B may cost more than the averageclock radio, but it still represents a solid value.

Short and stout with rounded sides and a contrasting silver-and-black body, theT600B looks a little intimidating. It has far more buttons than most clockradios, which we suspect may puzzle first-time users. Fortunately, many of thesecontrols are used for setup, while the most frequently used buttons are setapart and logically situated.

The Indiglo (blue) display shows time, date, radio frequency, CD track, andindicates which nature sound (ocean, brook, forest, or wind) is currentlyselected for the alarm. Setting the six AM and 12 FM presets is verystraightforward, and when powered up the T600B's last-station memoryautomatically returns to the station selected before the radio was switchedoff.

The sound of the T600B is quite good, but the close proximity of the twospeakers yields little stereo separation. And though it does deliver a full, clean sound, don't mistake this clock radio for a mini stereo system. Overdriveit, and the cabinet will start to buzz in protest. If you want to listen athigher levels, we'd suggest using the mini headphone jack or investing in a moremusic-oriented clock radio or shelf stereo.

All in all, the Timex T600B is a good value: it's small, sounds good, and ischock full of features. --Wayne Garcia

    Pros:

    • Very good sound, in moderation
    • 18 tuner presets
    • 3 alarms
    • Headphone jack
    Cons:
    • Faceplate is cluttered
    • Buzzes if overdriven

2-0 out of 5 stars Wish I hadn't bought it
There are WAY too many buttons, and it's way too easy to screw the thing up accidentally and oversleep because you shut off the alarm without realizing it. Plus, the time display is so big and so bright that I had to get used to it when I first bought it because the light made it difficult to fall asleep. I wish I hadn't bought it.

1-0 out of 5 stars can;t see the time
There isno way you should buy this as you can not see the time at night.

2-0 out of 5 stars Internals are too loud
Does what it says but the actual running noise "hum" is too loud, so loud in fact it will actually compete with soft CDs. I like a bit of Enya to wake me and I heard more of the unit than her mmmmming. Quite the duet.
The ocean waves and similar sounds are good however so it's nice for that. ... Read more
