Editorial Review

You'll be blown away by the light that comes from this little unit-—it's amazing. It provides a bright swath of light so much bigger than what we expected. Seven super-bright, 100,000-hour light-emitting diodes LEDs mean you'll never have to replace a bulb. We love its ergonomic shape and how it feels in hand. Even with its included batteries loaded, it weighs just six ounces. A helmet clamp is available to affix it to your headgear. We think this is the perfect light for camping, for police and fire professionals, electricians, plumbers (because it's waterproof!), and homeowners for when the power fails.--Kris Jensen-Van Heste ... 1-0 out of 5 stars Thought it was great, until it died
I was a huge fan of this flashlight, both because it was so bright, and because it used AA batteries, instead of the AAA that seem to be more common for LED flashlights these days, but can be harder to find when traveling in odd areas.

After having it around the house for several months, and recommending the brand to several people, I fully trusted the thing and took at as my only light on 5 week trip to rural Africa - and after just two weeks, it was dead.

The friend I was traveling with laughed, having warned me this would happen, as I stuttered in disbelief, and started a dissection using our kerosene lamp for light. Meanwhile, she sat reading a book on the other side of the hut with her nearly 2 year old LED Petzl headlamp.

Replacing the batteries, fiddling with the switch, nothing. Just dead.

Maybe it was just a fluke - or maybe they're meant for casual and not regular use. But, I've learned my lession - as of now, my loyalty is to Petzl when it comes to LED flashlights.

5-0 out of 5 stars Throw away your old flashlights!
I can't imagine why anyone would purchase an incadecent bulb flashlight after trying one of these. Compared to any other flashlight I've owned, the light is brighter and clearer than anything else. I'm thinking of buying the larger version of this flashlight in the future.

It sounds like a few people got defective units and wrote poor reviews, but I doubt very many of these are defective.

1-0 out of 5 stars What with all the hype about led flash lights.
Unless something is wrong with the one I bought from Costco, I am keeping my old one.I turned it on the fist time in my garage and thought to myself this couldn't be right, not from what I read about and expected.I checked to see if all the 7 leds are working and they seemed to be ok.I turned off the garage lights to to see how it work in the dark but was still surprised how dim it was. I compared my old traditional Ryovac with this light and the $8 Rayovac beat it by far in brighness, close up or from a distance, eventhough the leds produced whiter light.May be people bought these lights for the long hours of use and may be it needs a break-in period?Luckily I bought it from Costco and was able to return. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Worlds Best Crowbar
Being a manufacture and errector of timber frame building in the United Kingdom The SharkGrip Crowbar is the best i have used in the last 20 years. My current model is the 24inch version which is used daily to extract 4 inch nails from the timber frame buildings we are errecting. The pointed ends allow the bar to be driven into the timber around the nail head and a sharp pull on the lever and the nail is out. In do in this little damage is done to the timber and this can be undertaken in the tightest of corners. This is something that most other crowbars fail to do because of their shape and geometry.
The other use is as a lever the sharp flat end is ideal for slipping under panels to lift them.
I hope that if you purchase a bar you are as happy as my joiners are when the nick mine. ... Read more

The economical Bushnell 10x25 black compact PowerView FRP binoculars deliver 10x magnification and offer a field of view of 300 feet at 1,000 yards. They fit easily in your jacket pocket and weigh only 8.5 ounces. These binoculars are solid and well made--typical Bushnell quality--with black rubber armoring over metal construction. They feature a center focus system, so focusing is simple and fast. The focus knob moves smoothly with a certain amount of tension and didn't slip when we used it. For those who wear eyeglasses, the eyepieces are fitted with rubber roll-down eyecups, helping to bring your eyes closer to the lens. These compact binoculars are able performers in a number of indoor/outdoor settings--essentially anywhere compact size is advantageous. The box also includes a black carrying case, a thin neck strap, and a lens cloth. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars NICE SIZE FOR LADIES
These are just the right size for ladies, specially for distance viewing. My husband cant get on with them because with the small eyepieces he cant rest them against his brow to steady them - they float- and go out of focus. For us with smaller eyesockets they sit very nicely and the lenses are very clear. The clarity and detail being just as good as my bigger much more expensive pair. Very light and handy you can just keep them in your pocket .

2-0 out of 5 stars You get what you pay for
Difficult to focus even when brand new. Jostle it too much and you'll have to start squinting even more when you use them. In all honesty, however, I didn't expect much from a $17 pair of binoculars.

1-0 out of 5 stars i couldn't believe it
so there is was in the bushes about to flush out the prettiest quail you ever did see. then FLASH, BANG, BOOM, POW...the binoculars caught on fire. now all my friends call me that old ebonics thing called hotboy. ... Read more

Stay prepared and informed with the FR 200 from Grundig. If the power goes out and batteries aren't available, the FR 200 can function for up to an hour with only one minute of hand cranking. Its built-in generator means that even in the most desperate situations, you'll still have access to local news and information--as well as to news from around the world. The unit's four-band tuning receives AM, FM, SW1 (shortwave 1), and SW2 stations, and an included rechargeable battery pack provides reliable, renewable, internal power for everyday use.

The radio houses a 2.5-inch speaker. A .125-inch stereo headphone jack affords private listening, a built-in touch light comes in handy during lights-out emergencies, and you can dial in hard-to-tune stations with the unit's dedicated fine-tuning knob. A 4.5V DC jack allows an external power connection (power adapter not included).

A 360-degree telescope antenna provides the best radio signal for FM and SW, while a built-in AM antenna provides high sensitivity for AM reception. The FR 200 can run on three LR6 or AA batteries. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Broadcast Rx Only-OK quality
I'm a communications engineer & have designed radios This one is intended to be used for broadcast reception.Forget SSB or CW.It does drift a bit - but that is in part a result of trying to minimize power consumption (and cranking).I was impressed by the fact that the antenna is properly matched nearly everywhere in the SW band (as evidenced by the fact that touching the antenna does NOT increase signal volume. If you see that effect - the antenna is mismatched and your sensitivity is poor.Doubt me? connect an antenna 'matchbox' (impedance matcher) between an equivalent length of wire to the standard radio mounted antenna and such a radio - either use the ext antenna connections or collapse the stock antenna and use a clip. Now tune the matchbox for maximum background noise (indicating more RF is getting into the radio).Tune around and you'll then hear 3 times the number of signals that you heard with the standard radio mounted antenna. The ones you could hear before are now much louder too.A "Freeplay" radio is a typical example of this antenna matching design error. The Grundig is much smaller, lighter, runs (i believe) longer than the freeplay for an equiv amount of cranking, is half the price and more sensitive (on HF).(The Freeplay drifts too btw - i have 2 of them). If you want a no drift single sideband or CW radio get a AOR 3000.At $1000, it's out of the price range of the Grundig. It also doesn't have a crank. Why?the synthesized and microprocessed circuitry of the AOR draws WAY too much power - you'd need a treadmill, not a handcrank. The flashlight is handy, but not a substitute for a proper flashlight (torch). You can find the radio in the dark in a shelter..it's making noise. You can then find the flashlight..(it's built into the radio) - using it you can then find your 3 D cell Kleig light. This is a low price emerg radio built to fill a specific need - which imho it does quite well.. It is NOT the equiv of a $1000 - $3000 communications receiver.I own a couple of those too, being in the emergency comms/homeland defense business. They have their places too - but one has to consider what class of equipment one is dealing with - and for what it was designed.

5-0 out of 5 stars I want to make a correction!
I wish to correct an earlier statement about this product!I mistakenly suggested that this product was garbage, turns out that Radio Shack gave me the wrong AC Adapter plug not once but twice.

The problem has since been corrected and the radio works fine!I highly recommend this product and take back any earlier comment.

2-0 out of 5 stars Disappointed with performance
No, the FR200 is not an expensive radio, but I expected more from any product Grundig was willing to put its brand name on. I bought this radio to have with me when I was working in the yard, fishing, etc. The problem is that it drifts off frequency so badly and in such a short period of time that I have to keep it nearby to keep adjusting it. I guess there is a lot of truth to the adage that you get what you pay for. ... Read more

Editorial Review

The Wave is the flagship of the Leatherman line, and we would argue that it's the company's most versatile multitool to date. It comes loaded with 17 different tools, including everything from pliers to screwdrivers to wire cutters. We really like the Wave's quality construction, its four locking blades, and the fact that the user can get at the knife without having to open up the whole tool--a nice improvement over the original model. While nobody's going to replace a tool set or do major auto repairs with the Wave, it's absolutely invaluable for a wide range of quick, on-the-spot jobs. --Brian Trinen ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars for those who value effeciency, this is a MUST!
very durable, dependable, and worth its (light)weight in gold.

4-0 out of 5 stars Nice tool! Sheath not very "Deluxe".
The tool looks very useful and well made but the sheath looks like a piece of junk.

5-0 out of 5 stars Don't leave the bedroom without it
I have had the wave for years now, and I have finally worn it down to where I need to get a new one. This thing has been at my side and provided me with countless experiences of being able to fix something ON THE SPOT.The weight is not too heavy at all for me. The scissors work great (I have even cut stainless steel shim with them). The pliers have been used for numerous fixes and the jaws of mine have finally worn smooth. The wire cutters have worked great. The hard wire cutter has never failed me unless I am trying to cut steel cable (a difficult task for any pair of plier-like cutters), but even then I can still manage to do it.The screwdrives have been abused yet still function very well. The blades accept a good sharpening and last for a good while after sharpening. The file is bar-none the BEST file on any multi-tool I have ever seen, and is better than most dedicated files I have used. The diamond file is spectacular. The single-handed blade opening and single-handed plier opening are features I have come to depend on.This is just a great tool that allows me to GET MORE DONE!The leather sheath is also very rugged yet quickly became supple and remains a durable home for this tool.
No, it's not the perfect tool for any one specific task, but it is a very useful tool nonetheless and serves it's purpose without fail.I am amazed mine has lasted as long as it has considering how often I use it, which is pretty much every single day.If I am wearing pants or shorts with a belt, then I have my leatherman. The only nuisance is I have to remember to pack it in my luggage prior to flying!
Worth every penny, and then some. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Good To Know Just In Case...
This book was entertaining as well as highly informative. Going into details about zombie attacks and classifying them by degree and class of outbreak. There are details about what should be done and shouldn't be, the advantages and disadvantages of weapons and battle tactics(if necessary) the main goal is survival and unlike in the movies, these zombies are the result of a viral outbreak, not some magic spell or demonic possession, these are zombies that won't stop coming until either they are destroyed or you end up being zombie chow. This book was written with a seriousness that's almost comical but terrifying when you think about it. And with what's going on these days, a sudden zombie outbreak wouldn't surprise me in the least.

4-0 out of 5 stars Have you started fortifying your house yet?
Max Brooks, The Zombie Survival Guide: Complete Protection from the Living Dead (Three Rivers Press, 2003)

Face it, folks-the living dead are real. And it's not a question of if they will eventually attack the area in which you live, it's a question of when. The Zombie Survival Guide: Complete Protection from the Living Dead is a must-have book for, well, your protection from the living dead.

Divided into pieces on weaponry, armor, fortifying your living quarters, etc. The Zombie Survival Guide is a step-by-step instruction manual to prepare you for the inevitable. I mean, think about it. If you haven't read the book, and the living dead start shambling towards your house tomorrow, what are you going to do? Trust me, whatever you've just thought of has been covered in a movie somewhere, and the simple truth is, the person who did it in whatever movie it happened in ended up becoming zombie chow. You know that, right? So why not get the real scoop on how to defend yourself?

If you're not going to buy this one, you might as well pick up a copy of Derek Humphry's Final Exit; you're going to need it. *** ½

5-0 out of 5 stars Really good book
I thought it was really entertaining to read.I am a big zombie fan, especially of Resident Evil, and a guide on how to fight the zombie horde is a pretty good idea.I also enjoy the fact it was written by Mel Brooks's son, who has shown to me he is full of the same humor in his dad.I also enjoy the fact that he named the virus after a potato vine, I got a kick out of that. ...
